Kiara sighed

"I know that Viper, but merpeople are rather obessed with there dead royalty. They will declare war on Hogwarts if you don't give it back. They will harpoon students, kidnap who ever comes near the shore... All sorts of things until they get the heart back"

Viper glared. "Well they should kidnap anyone who comes to shore. I swear, the students are like eels, snogging everywhere!"

Kiara rolled her eyes

"Viper when I say kidnap I mean drown, they will grab anyone drag them down in to the water and not let them go. If they go that far I will be forced to make sure they can't get to shore, and I rather not cast that certain spell"

Viper stared at the headmistress, frowning. "Alright, Headmistress, clearly we are on different pages. This," she held up the heart. "is a miracle in a jar." Those, "She pointed outside the windows where a few students were playing around down below. "Are headaches that breath and never go away!"

Viper pouted. She wasn't accustomed to not getting what she wanted. A childhood at Viper Manor had her well educated in that field. "Headmistress, I nearly died getting that bloody heart. It can enhance everything! I refuse to give it up!" she exclaimed clutching it tightly to her chest.

Kiara look at Viper and shook her head.

"We are not only on different pages but in a different book entirely. My first and foremost reasponabily is to the school and the safety of it's student you should know that by know. Viper if there was a way for you to keep the heart and aplease the merpeople I would do it. I know how much that would mean to potion making. But as it stands you need to give it back to them"

Viper sighed. "Why can't we just cast wards around the lake? That would solve all of our problems! The eel-like students, the Mer-People...at least until they get a new king or queen. By then they could care less what body organ I nicked."

Kiara sighed she had been thinking of making a that temporary solution, but not perminate.

"You would be amazed on how long mer-people can hold a grouge for. I accidently burned one of their princess with fire in my 5th year, I was dodge there harpoons up until the day I graduated, to this day I won't go near the lake. Wards will make a good temporary fix. But we need to come up with something else in the mean time"

Said Kiara as she whipped out her wand and started to draw runes that would shield the lake.

Viper thought for a moment. "They'd expect me to place the heart directly back where I found it. After I return it, they'd leave the tomb in peace. Perhaps I may be able to mimick the heart..." she said eying the golden jar in her hand with interest.

"How good of a copy can you make?" asked Kiara as she finsihed the ward for the lake and waved her wand out side.

A golden shield became visable around waters.

"That should keep them busy or a bit"

Viper opened the jar and peeked inside. "A decent one, I suppose."

"Good, but we will need a way for you to actually put the heart back and get out without them killing you. With how angry they are they are bound to shoot you on site, or try to drown you"

Viper thought for a moment before smiling. "I think this falls under the duty of the Headmistress!" she said, getting up to leave.

"Oh yeah thanks Viper you have been so much help" said Kiara her voice dripping with sarcasim.

Viper smiled sweetly as she ran away exited. "Diplomacy falls under the job description, love."

Kiara grownd again,

"Last I checked.... it your fault this happened in the first place!!" she yelled as she ran after Vipers retreating form.

Viper ran faster and faster as Kiara began to chase her. "No, it was Peeve's fault for telling me. And Peeves is your responsibility!" She laughed slightly, imagining what Eglantine in all her propriety would say if she saw this.

"Peeves? Peeves? what the heck were thinking listening to Peeves, first years don't even listen to him anymore! and Why did you have to hand me though water demons? You know I HATE water!"

"Peeves wasn't lying though! There really was a heart up for grabs. And as for the water...good luck!"

Kiara stopped chasing but yelled out "Brat!"

Viper gaped and clutched her chest in mock pain. "That hurt, Kiara. Right here." until she burst out laughing.

Darien sniggered. It was always fun watching Professors argue.
But this was the best fight over a dead merman's heart he'd ever seen.

Kiara blushed, she had almost forgotten the student were there.

"Sorry about that, she knows how much I hate getting wet and in order to talk to merpeople you have to get in the water with them"

Water...
He grinned. "I love water. Do you speak mermish then?" He rolled his eyes. "Mother wanted me to learn...but I wasn't keen. Ana's the scholar in the family anyway."

"I am able to speak it, not Very well though. As for why I hate water I am magiclly bonded to a pheonix, a bird of fire. Because of it I have a resistence to fire and heat but I can't stand being cold"

Casey stepped forward.

"I am able to speak it fluently headmistress, perhaps I could be of some assistence"
