My Office

Kiara smiled as she stepped into her office, she had decided not to change the way the room was originaly layout by the late Albus Dumbledore. She was appearently the youngest Headmaster Hogwarts had had for atleast 400 years, and it was the portrait of Severus Snape that made the comment she would probably turn it into a girly parlor room.

She glanced up at the former Slytherin headmaster who as usual was glaring daggers at her.

Kiara rolled her eyes " Sev don't you have anything better to do? Like sleeping or something? That is what all the other portraits do in here"

Snape's Portrait snarled at her, "I will when you stop calling me Sev"

Kiara smirked and replied "Well we seem to have a problem don't we, cause I won't stop calling you sev until you stop glaring at me"

Professor DeLanquar stood in front of the stone gargoyle that guarded the Headmistress's office. Feeling slight daft for not know what to do to enter the office, she merely stood there. Her cane tapped softly against the cold stone beneath it and her green eyes scanned the door.

Being a very patient woman, Eglantine could have stood there for all eternity. But she had more important things to do than hope the Headmistress opened the door. Sighing with defeat, she turned and began to make her way down the hallway.

Kiara turned towards the door to her office, getting the feeling that Eglantine was near.

"Ah of course, it's that spell Dumbledore used so he knew when someone was standing outside the office"

After a minute she felt the feeling go away.

"Oh stupid me...Of course she doesn't know the password"

Quickly getting up she ran outside, making the stupid Gargoyle move out of the way.

"Hey, Eglantine... you could have just told the stupid gargoyle to move out of the way you know. It will usually let Professor's in without a password unless I say otherwise" she called out as she glared at the gargoyle.

Eglantine turned slowly when she heard the Headmistress call for her and made her way back to the door.

"I did not know that. But I remember it in the future." she said simply, her pale cheeks tinted pink with embarrassment. She did not add that she had no idea that the gargoyle could move.
"Headmistress, I wanted to speak to you about something."

Kiara smiled

"Yes, yes of course, come on in. It would be nice to talk to someone beside Sev for a change... You'll see what it mean, and you can call me Kiara if you want" said Kiara as she lead the back in the office.

Eglantine followed the Headmistress into the office. "Thank you, Headmistress."
She was impressed by the grandeur of the office and noted that it looked the same as it had when she had visited once, many years ago. The portraits lining the walls almost escaped her attention until she noticed Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. Curtseying slightly, she bade them a good day, before returning her attention to the Headmistress.

Kiara sighed.

She could handle students calling her Headmistress, but her staff? it just felt weird. Especially when the person calling her that was 20 years her senior.

"Oh well.. we'll work on that later" Kiara thought to her self.

"Have a seat, Professor DeLanquar" said Kiara as she waved her wand, making a comfortable chair appear in front her desk.

"What can I do you for?" she asked.

Eglantine seated herself in the chair and offered a small smile to the Headmistress.

"I wanted to ask you about Hogwarts' Muggle Studies. You will be continuing them from prior years?" Her eyebrows raised as she asked the question and her cane was set against the chair.

Kiara nodded.

"Of course, the class hasn't been dropped if that is what you're asking. But we are short on staff, No one to teach it, I have no time, with getting the school up and running again, teaching Defense and Charms. I must say I was relieved when you and Professor Viper applied for the Transfiguration and Potions positons. I didn't know how I was going to get around to everything."

Kiara stopped and raised an eyebrow as she looked at Eglantine "Why do you ask?"

Eglantine listened intently to the Headmistress, her hands folded neatly on her lap.

"I have a small amount of experience with muggles. And I thought it would be important to ensure that the students knew something about them. Curiosity, if you will."

Kiara nodded.

"I understand, hmm maybe I will take the position, after everything is smoothed out around here, if I can't find anyone else to take the position that is. I certainly know a fair share about muggles, my Mother made sure of that. Did you know I have my Muggle high school diploma? My mother made me go to summer school during my summer holiday from Hogwarts. I guess she didn't want me to forget where I came from... Anyway don't worry, all the Hogwarts classes will start sometime It all depends when the Professors can be found. Was there anything else you wanted to talk about?" Kiara asked?

Eglantine's eyes widened as she would have never guessed that the Headmistress was muggle-born.
"Oh, no!" she responded hastily. " I have already wasted far too much of your time, Headmistress. Forgive me for giving you more to worry about. I was careless." She rose from the chair, feeling awkward and more than a little ashamed with herself. The woman had many important responsibilities and here she was adding to them with her ridiculous thoughts.

"I bid you a good day and a pleasant afternoon." She finished, retrieving her cane and all but running for the door.

Kiara had stared in shock as the normally calm Transfiguration Professor all but ran out of her office.

"I... what was that all about? Did I say something wrong?" she asked herself.

"You probably offended her" came the surly response of Severus Snape.

"No one asked you Sev, I should go and talk to her though, What did she mean wasting my time? I Would hardly classify the want to educate students a wast of time" she said as she quickly got up and ran out of her office hoping to find where Eglantine went.

Kiara made her way back to her office, much slower this time.

Shooting a glare at the Gargoyal was all it to took for the stupid thing to move out of the way.

Once back inside she streched and looked at some of the papers on her desk. One of them was a resume of sorts from Professor Viper.

Her eyes grew wider and wider as she read it.

"Wow this girl is good"

Hearing a humph from a certain portriat she smirked.

"This one could even give you a run for your money in potion making Sev"

Kiara spent hour or so on doing the final paper work for her two newly hired professors, then she had to owl them to the ministry to make it offical. One of the last bits of paper work was the bank information for Gringotts, so her new employee's could be payed.

"And it needs the vault and accont numbers from each of them.... great. Guess I will have to go and find them, hopefully there are still in Professor Vipers office" she said getting up and taking the two paper with her..

((To Professor Vipers Office))

A letter flew into the office guided by several complexly woven charms and laid itself on the Headmistress's desk where it could be plainly seen. It was a crimson envelope, muggle styled, with cream coloured spirals in each corner.

The word "Headmistress" was written in an elegant thin handwriting across the middle of the envelope in silver ink.

Kiara sighed as she walked back into her office.

"Jeez what a day, It is not even dinner time yet and I am already tiered"

"Harder then you thought it would be is it?" came the condensending voice of Severus Snape.

"Hey I can handle the work and the teaching, but I had no idea how hard it would be to deal with these Professors"

She stopped and looked at Sev.

"And one of them is entierly to much like you, I swear she is your female reincarnate"

Snape smirked.

"Good at least i don't have to here about that Hufflepuff idiot, who called himself a potion master again".

Kiara rolled her eyes and mouthed "Slytherins".

Looking over at her desk she saw an envelope with Headmistress on it.

"hmm who could this be from?" she said as she opened it.

The paper inside was fine and thin with an embossed letterhead of lavender and sky blue.

In the same handwriting as the single word began a simple paragraph of small words.

"Headmistress,

I must apologize for the way I acted earlier in your office. You must be in a quandary about that.

To explain my conduct and assure you of my sanity, I have written this letter as I find writing easier than speaking.

I came to your office to volunteer my services. You were/are without a Muggle studies professor and I would be willing to take the position until it can be filled more suitably.

As to my conduct, I am afraid that my years amongst muggles has made me wary and I try my best to be thoughtful of others.

P.S. I do not think that Professor Viper and I will get along very well as she is most difficult. If this proves too tedious, I will tender my resignation."

Kiara sighed once again.

"Well why didn't she just say she would take the Muggle studies position in the first place?" she said as she took out a quill and began writing a reply back.

When she was done she flicked her wand whatched as flew out of her office.

A folded piece of paper flew into the office and set down in front of the Headmistress, unfolding.

"Headmistress,

Thank you for allowing me to take the position. I will attempt to be cordial to Professor Viper.
The reason for my inability to talk to you in very simple. The last Headmistress I was under attacked me both verbally and physically when I said anything that displeased her.

Kiara read through the letter quickly.

"Wow what hasn't this woman been through?" Kiara mumbled to her self as she wrote a quick relpy back and flicked it away.

"Now what am i going to do with Professor Viper?" Kiara thought to herself as she fiddled with her quill.

After kiara returned to her office she saw a letter laying on her desk. After reading she took a deep breath, she only hoped this went better then the last time she tried to explain what happed to someone.

Professor DeLanquar made her way to the door guarded by the gargoyle and rather timidly swatted it with her cane. To her immense relief, it jumped aside and she made her way into the Headmistress's office.

"Good evening."

Kiara stood against her desk as Professor DeLanquar walked inside.

"Good evening... Umm I want to apologize for earlier in the great hall, I had no right to snap at you. It was just an automatic reasponse I give when someone questions me about it. The last time I tried to explaine this it didn't go over very well"

Eglantine sat down in front of the desk and nodded understandingly.
"I will not interrupt you." She said, hoping to come across as encouraging.

Kiara took a deep breath to calm her nerves,the last thing she needed now was another attack.

"It happened almost a year ago, My squad was called to a muggle city to remove a disturbance. That disturbance the ministry so called it was actaully a full grown angry werewolf....(This is where everyone assumes I was bitten and don't stay long enought to help me explaine further.) We were there for hours, most of the night in fact untill we were finally out of the city and near the out skirts. Then a car came up the road and the werewolf went wild again. It went in to a rage, probably because the car was silver. Needing to protect the people in the car I magically locked the cars doors knowing if they paniced and ran the werewolf would get them for sure. What I didn't know there there was a little girl in the back seat, so small I couldn't see her through the car window. I guess the werewolf smelled her fear and broke the back seat window......"

Kiara tighend her fists as she relived the moment in her mind.

"That was the worst moment of my life when I saw that little girl run from the car. I locked eyes with werewolf for a spit second and I knew what he was going to do. After that is mostly a blur, according to the others in my squad they said I apperated between the werewolf and the girl. The werewolf was shocked by my sudden apperence stopped in his tracks growled and clawed me over before I even knew what I had done. It is hard to imagine what would have happened if the sun hadn't risen when it did. Causing the werewolf to turn back into a human."

She paused again taking a breath.

"I was rushed to St. Mungo’s practically dead, the werewolves claws ran deep leaving my lungs punctured and many of my ribs broken, If it weren't for Saturn's tears I would probably be dead. But not even her tears could undo all the damage to my lungs that night. A small bit of the werewolves dna was left inside me, not enough to infect me with the virus but enough to effect the healing process. So with every full moon I can hardly breathe, but near the days of new moon i am practically normal. That is why dueling sessions will be every month during the begining of the new moon cycle"

Smiling over at Eglantine "that is my story"
