Viper's Office

Kiara bit her lip wondering if she had the right to say, but it would make things easier if Viper could just give the potion to Casey.

"It is for Miss. Casey Silvertounge, though i must ask you not to let the whole school know please. I think she wants it to remain as confidential as possible"

Viper raised an eyebrow in suprise. "The young Hufflepuff? I never would have expected that. No wonder she gave that much effort into solving my riddle..." she paused deep in thought. "Well, in that case, Kiara. I will have to say no. I will not brew her Wolfsbane Potions."

Kiara sighed and coughed, now was not the time for an attack.

Taking a slow breath she asked.

"Why.. not? It is a part of the requierment for students with the virus to be under the Wolfsbane infuense.... for everyones safety"

Viper leaned further back against her desk. "No, Kiara. My decision stands firm. I will not brew the potion for Ms. Silvertongue. However," she paused to smile gently. "I will gladly teach Ms.Silvertongue how to brew her own potions."

Kiara smiled.

"Thank you Viper, I am sure she will thankfull.. I take it she answer the riddle correctly then?"

Viper nodded, glancing at the stack of papers where the pupil's answers to the riddle lay, the young Hufflepuff's on the top. "Yes, she was one of the few to even attempt to solve the riddle, bringing my class size up to.." she paused for dramatic effect "Five!"

Kiara laughed.

"Thats it? oh dear.... No wonder I got a whole bunch of glares in defense when I told them I wouldn't tell them the answer"

Viper laughed. "Merlin, and the parents are even worse. I've had about two dozen howlers sent to me claiming that I am depriving their children of their educational rights!" Viper sighed. "I'll probably take them all in in the end. Five children total?" Viper scoffed. "I suppose I'll just have the first official homework assignment be a contract for their parents acknowledging the fact that I refuse to take responsibility for their child's foolish mistakes."

Kiara nodded

"It is in your right, potion making can be very dangerous if the maker doesn't know what they are doing. I seem to remember a couple cauldrons blowing during my time in hogwarts. Very messy indeed"

Viper laughed as she reminesced of her student days. "I know. I was one them. I blew up the dungeons in my fifth year and turned my partner blue for a few months." seeing the Headmistress's slightly alarmed look, she hastily added. "On purpose of course." She shrugged. "I hated Porterman. The bloody Hufflepuff couldn't tell a bezoar from a cauldron!"

Kiara laughed.

"And I suppose that is supposed to make my feel better? Oh well I will take what i can get. Anyway I thank you for helping Miss. Silvertounge Viper I am sure she will appreciate it"

Viper nodded. "No, it was supposed to make you laugh and show you that I do, in fact, have a sense of humor. Perhaps a macabre one, but a sense of humor nonetheless. Anyway, Perhaps Ms.Silvertongue will redeem her House. She does have great potential."

Kiara nodded.

"I believe she will, she is a hard working girl, I will tell her you offer, she will probably contact you soon"

Viper smiled. "My office will be open."

"Anyway I must be going, I Will send Miss. Silvertounge your way. I will see you later Viper"

Casey nervous;y knocked on Professor Vipers door, and fiddled with her robes. It was no secret that the Sytherin Head of House had a issue with Hufflepuffs.

"But she is willing to teach me, she can't be that bad" Casey mumbled to her self

Viper paused in her ingredients inventory as she heard a knock at the door. "That must be Ms.Silvertongue."

"Enter!" Viper called out.

Casey pushed the door opened and walked inside trying her hardest to hide her nervousness making sure her eyes remaind off the floor. Which was something she tended to do while nervous.


"Professor Viper, the Headmistress said you are willing to teach me how to make the Wolfsbane Potion.

When can we start?"

Viper smiled gently at the young Hufflepuff's nervousness. "Anytime you are ready. Is now a good time?"

Casey nodded her head, " Now is perfect, I am finished other classes for the day and besides the full moon isn't far away so it is now or never"

Viper nodded. Waving her hand, she conjured a miniature binder where she had made a book of Wolfsbane's Potion book complete with the ingredients and pictures, directions on how to make it, and tips on how to brew the potion easier.

She led the student over to a corner of her office that had a cauldron brewing and potion ingredients around it. Seeing Casey's curious look, she explained. "You see, Ms.Silvertongue, the right way to learn potions is to attempt to brew it yourself so that you may realize your mistakes and promptly correct them. I will be standing here and monitoring you closely, so there is no need to fear any accidents. Are you ready to attempt making it now or would you prefer a later time?"

Casey glanced over the ingrediants, they all looked familar, when she was younger her mother let her watch as she prepared the potion, but her mother wasn't a patient women when it came to explaining how to make it. So she was never actually told her what the ingrediants were or how to do things.

But with a book with instructions and the professor to watch her every move Casey felt she just might be able to do it.

"I will try now if that is alright"

Reading through the instructions first and making sure she knew where and what all the ingrediants were she got to work.

She moved slowly at first sometimes double or triple checking the book to make sure she was doing it right.

She did however stop when one of the cutting tools she was using started to burn her skin.

Gasping she dropped it.

Reflexively, Viper waved her wand, preventing the knife from hitting the floor.

"Are you alright?" Viper asked examining the Hufflepuff's hand, healing the irritation with a quick charm. "You're not allergic to anything, are you? Nickle, Silver...?"

Casey nodded, looking awfully embaressed as she dug through her robes and pulled out her gloves.

" Werewolves are highly allergic to silver Professor, sorry I forgot to put my gloves on." she said as she pulled the black gloves over she hands.

"I am alright, May I continue?'

Viper sighed in relief. "It's quite alright Ms.Silvertongue. This is, after all, a learning procedure. Please, do proceed."
