My Office

He entered, obviously overjoyed and bowed lowly. Pipe in his pocket, Horatio beamed at Kiara before leaping into his request.

"I had a marvelous idea while speaking to Michael Blackwood. You've seen him I'm sure, wonderful young man, Hufflepuff, Fifth year, wears a fang earring in his ear and adores music. Anyway, I had an idea to start a student music club! Any student who plays an instrument or sings would be welcome to join. We would have band and maybe a choir. Food, drink, games and at the end of every week a party! I thought it would be a wonderful way for students to continue their musical dreams." His eyebrows could not have risen any higher if someone had attached strings to them and them lifted.

"What do you think?" he asked, a look of pure glee on his face. "Oh yes, and whatever expenses we have I will pay for from my vault. Trust me I need a way to get rid of a few galleons. And the club would be called Phoenix Edge."

Kiara smiled at Horatio "By all means it is a wonderful idea, there are quit a few musical talents around the school and on staff if there is anyway I can help with it just say so. Oh and by the way I love the name"

"That was Mr. Blackwood's idea, the name. He really is very creative." Horatio turned three cartwheels around the room, yahooing when Kiara finished saying it was a wonderful idea.

"I'll begin work on it right away!" he shouted, running for the door. "Thank you, Kiara!"

Kiara smiled "Your very welcome Horatio" she said with a laugh.

Eglantine and a middle aged man, maybe about 40, approached the office door. Knocking softly, Eglantine waited for Kiara to open it and admit them.

Kiara waved her hand at the knock at the door opening it.

"Come on it is opened" she said.

The man allowed Eglantine to enter before him and then closed the door behind him with an obviously careful hand.

"Kiara, this is Ciaran McConn, Professor McKevin's nephew." Eglantine introduced, gesturing toward the man. Ciaran smiled broadly. He was tall, but slim, a man with a grace that made his willowy frame manly. With shoulder length red hair that curled slightly and bright blue eyes, he was obviously a Scott. His robes were sky blue and form fitting, and went well with his happy face and pleasant smile.

"A pleasure to be meeting you, Kiara Headmistress." he greeted, bobbing his head in polite nod.

Kiara nodded back," A pleasure to meet you as well Mr McConn is there anything Is can help you with?" she asked curiously.

Eglantine nodded. "Mr. McConn is visiting his uncle and wanted to be sure it was well with you." Ciaran nodded.

"Wouldn't wanting your being upset about me visiting me uncle." he stated with a thick Scottish accent.

Kiara smiled "Of course it is alright, why would I be upset? Welcome to Hogwarts Mr McConn, I hope you have a good visit with your uncle" she said as she offered her hand to shake.

"Thank ya." Ciaran smiled. Unknown to him, Eglantine cast a quick translation charm on him, as if anticipating that he was about to fall into Gaelic. "I hope to enjoy my visit with my great uncle. It has been a few years."

Suddenly there was a crashing sound in the hallway outside the office and both Ciaran and Eglantine turned quickly to see what had caused the problem.

Kiara moved quickly toward the door and waved it opened, "What on earth was that?" she asked as she looked out side the door.

Suddenly a large dog bounded into the office, knocking Kiara over as he hit into her. Growling deeply, the dog set its jaws only centimeters from Kiara's neck.

Eglantine gasped, but appeared to have frozen, pale and wide eyed. Pulling his wand from his pocket, Ciaran rushed forward and stupified the dog before it could bite the Headmistress. With another flick of his wand, he moved the huge dog off of her and then offered his hand to pull her from the floor.

"You wouldn't be hurt would you lassie?" he asked, concerned but not overly so.

Kiara's heart was pounding with andrealin.

"I am a little shaken up but other wise unhurt" she said as she accepted the hand up. She still alttle shaky.

"I thank you for your help Mr. McConn" she said sinerely.

"I have no Idea how a wild dog got in the school, Oh I hope it didn't attack a student" she said worriedly.

Eglantine transfigured the dog into a spoon and levitated it into her pocket. "Mr. McConn thank you very much for helping her." she gasped, checking to be certain Kiara was indeed unharmed.

Ciaran stepped back to allow Eglantine to assist Kiara but stayed close by in case he was needed for anything. "That be good news, lassie. Professor, you may be wanting me to look at the dog. I am an auror after all." Eglantine shook her head.

"Oh no, that is not needed. I will dispose of it properly." She raised a hand to her head. "I really am not feeling the best though. Why don't you two get better acquainted?" Without waiting for either of them to respond she hovered out of the room and closed the door.

"That was close, Horatio." she muttered as soon as the door was closed. Setting the spoon on the floor she watched as it morphed back into the fun-loving professor.
"Close, but it worked, my dear. Operation Cupid is a go!"

Kiara looked at Eglantine at she left with a confused expression on her face. "Alright.. that was wierd" she said.

Looking over at Ciaran she said "Thank you for your help again, that could been bad" she said. (yeah right)

"So you are a auror?" she asked with interest.

Ciaran nodded, looking after the closed door. "Yes, I am auror." he nodded again. "And you are the Headmistress of Hogwarts. I wouldn't be wrong in believing you were on the upper shelf." He smiled, good-naturally. "What's it like?"

Kiara laughed "Interesting, it is never boring, although I do miss my old job auror as well. Has anything Changed in the feild since I left a year ago? Still taking care of dark lord wannabees?" she asked.

Ciaran chuckled, although his laughter was carefully reigned in. Obviously he was a very polite man who strives to come across as careful and gentlemanly.
"Very little has changed." he nodded. "The occasional bad witch, but mainly the... You were an auror? Blimey! I never met you!" he exclaimed.

Kiara laughed again finding the way he said the last part funny "I haven't been active in the field for a while, I was formerly captain of a team at the ministry"

"Aye, that makes good sense." he nodded. "Northern team, secret work is what I do, lassie. Course, its tough on me lad, but he be wanting to be an auror as well when hes grown." He folded his hands. "You've got children?" he asked.

Kiara bit her lip but didn't take a offence, he didn't know. " Umm no, not anymore anyway" she said softly.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been asking that." he stated gravely.

Kiara shook her head "No, no, it's okay it is a perfectly normal question. You couldn't have known. What about you? any children? family?"

"Aye, I've got a good lad, Tavish. But I call him Tav. Me wife died when the lad was a wee bairn. She got the pox and there was nothing the good mediwitch could do. Her name was Meagan." His blue eyes saddened slightly, but the smile remained on his face.
