The Common Room

Lycoris blinked, stared at Diana, and looked promptly terrified. "Um, nothing, nothing! Please don't kill me! Murder is... wrong? I'm too young to dieee!"

Helena laughed. "Don't worry Lycoris, Diana's a Prefect, she can't kill anyone or else her precious Prefect badge will be taken away."

"You're just jealous." Diana said childishly.

"Of not being able to have some fun?" Helena said. "Thanks but... no thanks."

"Hey I have some fun!" Diana defended.

"Yes, coz' everyone's idea of fun is watching you PDAing with that Slytherin." Helena retorted.

Zabby had been watching with a small smile on her face. It was like watching her and her cousin fight. It was funny. "Well, sounds like Quiddich is out of the question, so what do we want to do. I'm ignoring homework for once." She pulled her blonde hair off her neck. "And I'm feeling random."

"Let's go explore the Castle," Helena suggested standing up. "Oh! Let's go to the Kitchens."

Zabby grinned. "Sure! Lead the way!"

Haydon stepped into the common room just as Zabby had gone up to her dorm, nose in a book. He sank into one of the chairs. Zabby was his sister and he couldn't do anything about it. He wanted to go up and tell her...

But...He had promised their mother that he wouldn't. She would find out when the time wad right. Zabby was a smart girl, she'd figure it out.

"Come on Zabby," Diana said stepping out of the Dormitories. "Oh hello there." Diana noticed Haydon.

Haydon's head shot up. Speak of the devil and she shall appear. "Oh, hi..."

"Diana! Wait up!" Zabby said, running down the stairs.

Haydon stood up. "Zabrina!" he said, still in shock. "How are you?"

Zabby looked at him. There was something familiar about him... "Haydon, right? And it's Zabby. It's Zabrina to people I don't like."

Diana grinned. "Can I call you Brina?"

Zabby shrugged. "It's no worse than Zabs the Spaz."

Haydon laughed. That sounded just like his mom. "Zabby it is then. I'm Haydon. Hay isn't acceptable. It makes me sound like food for a horse."

Zabby laughed. "Nice..."

"What about Hade?" Diana said. She didn't know what was wrong with her, she sounded giddy.

Zabby grinned. "Yes...Hade works."

Haydon sighed. There was no way he gettinh out of it, was he?

"What about Hades? You know as in the Greek god." Diana suggested.

Hadon looked at her. "The Greek god of death? I'll think on it."

Zabby grinned evilly. "So, Hades, what are you up to?"

Haydon shrugged. "Nothing. Thinkin of my mother. She's a nurse at St. Mungos and she doesn't know if she can afford to keep me here for two more years."

And it was the truth. They were practially on a fixed income with limited resorces. "Unlike my sister..." he thought.

Diana's joking stanced changed to concern. "That's terrible. You know, I think you can apply for a Scholarship here if your short on money."

Zabby frowned. There was something too familiar about him... "I know there is. Are you going to apply?"

Haydon nodded. "Most likely. Mum wants me to get the best education I can."

Professor DeLanquar entered the Gryffindor common room, the last white and orange kitten purring in a content ball in her hands. Of course with her wheelchair hovering along, she could carry her gently on her lap.

Noticing a frowning Gryffindor, a Miss Gallagher, if her memory served her, she decided to approach her with the kitten.
"Excuse me, Miss Gallagher." she stated softly.

Zabby turned around. "Professor DeLanquar! What are you doing here," she asked, coming over. She noticed the kitten. "Oh! It's so cute! Boy or girl?" she asked.

"It is a girl." Eglantine replied, stroking the kitten's tiny head. "Would you like her?" she asked, offering the yawning kitten to the girl.

Zabby held her hands out like a little girl at Christmas. "Oh, Professor, really?" She took the offered kitten. "She's so pretty! Does she have a name?" Zabby asked excitedly, sitting at the professor's feet, petting the purring little ball of fur.

Diana smiled. "She is so cute."

Suddenly there was a hiss in the corner of the room. Diana laughed. "I don't think Cassie likes her much though."

Haydon stood in the back of the group. He knew the professor, but not personally. "She is cute, Zabby," he said, coming to sit beside his sister.

Zabby smiled brightly at the young man. "Thanks, Hades!" she said, nudging him in the side.

He grinned back, "Fine, Zabs the Spaz."

She punched him lightly. "Hades."
