The Park

Kiara laughed lightly at Tav's question, she wasn't even sure if Sevastyan ever went to McDonalds before, as it was a muggle fast food restaurant not exactly many Pureblood wizards went to.

"Where do you get these questions?" Kiara asked Tav amused but then waited for Sevastyan to enter.

Sevastyan glanced to Kiara in response to her inquiry to Tav. Personally he wondered the same thing, though didn't really mind. He knew from a certain degree of experience that children always had questions of some sort to ask, naturally being rather inquisitive.

"Umm... I am not vone hundred percent certain, Tavish," Sevastyan replied with astonishing honesty. "Who is MacDonalds?" he asked, gray eyes hopping between Tav and Kiara as he awaited an answer to his own inquiry.

"But vot of you, Tavish? Vhere might you be from?" the Russian asked the youngster good-naturedly.


((LOL - I just had the mental image of Tav and Sevastyan at a McDonald's! XD))

Tav smiled. "From my head. Where else would I get them?" he stated, innocence shining brightly in his eyes. "McDonalds is a restaurant, Mr. Sevastyan. Fast food, burgers and french fries."

"I'm from Northern Scotland. But I don't got an accent, cause I lived in America too. My dad moved back here when my mum died."

Kiara chucked at Sevastyans and Tav's responses.

"Yes Sevastyan McDonalds is a Muggle restaurant" she said with a laugh.

Kiara blinked at the news at the Tav and Ciaran living in a America, she hadn't known that although it did make sense with why Tav didn't have his fathers accent.

At the information provided about McDonalds, Sevastyan considered it for a moment before nodding his comprehension. "I am not sure if ve have vone of those... but Russia is a pretty big country and not even I have seen it all," he admitted.

Almost all of his attention focused on Tav, for the better to hear his tale. "I am sorry to hear about your mother..." Sevastyan offered in a gesture of courtesy. Though Sevastyan didn't know the woman in question, it didn't change the fact that he offered his condolences anyway. "Ameri-ka is indeed an interesting country... as are most others if vone gives them a chance," he supplied, not wanting to seem to pry into the child's life by asking where he lived and such. Those questions could be asked later.

"Yeah, America is cool. They've got all the stars and Toys R Us." Tav announced as if that was America's finest feature... "My dad likes here better though. Especially since he's gonna marry Kiara."

Kiara eyes widened at Tav's anoucement and blushed as she turned to face Sevastyan for his reaction to his statment.

Sevastyan couldn't help but laugh slightly at Tav's assessment of America. It didn't surprise him that toys and movies were the two immediate things on the child's mind. Such was the way of youth.

When talk turned to the boy's father, Sevastyan's first assumption was that the man's name would be revealed. However... the name wasn't needed the moment Tav had finished his sentence. Immediately, Sevastyan's eyes widened but instead of allowing Tav to see his surprise he looked to Kiara.

He looked rather quite a lot like a deer caught in headlights.

Ciaran McConn, hmm? Sevastyan mused, though his expression was far from being quite as calm as the thought. He was personally thankful now that he'd had his staff on hand: the Russian could lean on it a bit as he stood there in a crouch upon hearing such news. However, the only indication he made that he was leaning on it consisted of a tightening of his grip on the wooden object.

"I-is that so?" Sevastyan queried, trying to sound pleasantly unconcerned as he readjusted his gaze to Tav. To the experienced in dealing with the Russian, however, it would be obvious that unconcerned was not his usual reaction, and nor was it now. A million notions filtered through his head, trying to assimilate this new piece of information into what he already knew and suspected.

"I don't think I've met your dad yet. Vot is he like?" the Russian asked, genuinely curious and still remaining friendly. All reservations about the mysteriously elusive man were locked away in a vault at the back of his mind for a later date.

Kiara swallowed and looked slightly worried over at Sevastyan's reaction, she hoped he wouldn't over reacat.... it was her hope that things working out between her and Ciaran. Now for Tav's sake she prayed it did.

She would feel extememly conflicted if Sevastyan over reacted it once tav was no longer in their presents. She loved Ciaran yes, but she also loved Sevasyan as the brother she never had. It would sadded her greatly if Sevastyan didn't approve, she wouldn't know what to do.

"Ciaran the next chance I get I am draging you to meet everyone" she thought, as she bit her lip.

The worried look never really left her face as Sevastyan queation Tav about is father.

"You feeling all right?" Tav asked, noticing how the man's eyes widened. "Yeah." he continued.

"My dad's a great guy. He's an auror and is really good at just about everything."

Kiara smiled at Tav's answer.

"That he is Tav" she she said as she ruffled his red hair. She looked over at Sevastyan.

"You really should meet him Sevastyan, he is very nice" she said with worried look on her face form his reaction.

It wasn't like they were getting married tomorrow, probably wouldn't be for a while, as she needed to talk to C iaran about a few things.

Kiara laughed sliently to her self "Poor Ciaran..... I talk about marriage with his son before him... hope he doesn't mind"

Then she turned her attention back to Sevastyan, his reaction still cocerned her, but could she really blame him?... no she couldn't.

Kiara's worry was not lost on him... Sevastyan was personally quite worried as well.

"Yes, I... I am fine, Tavish," Sevastyan replied and shifted his weight. "I slightly lost my footing," he explained the reaction away, leaning more now on his staff to demonstrate the case in point. It wasn't a whole truth, but it was truth enough.

Auror... well, that leant toward some credentials, the Russian supposed.

As far as skill went, well: Sevastyan decided to wait and see for himself when he met Ciaran.

At least Kiara and Tav got on well, he mused...

Sevastyan considered Kiara's supplemental comment, then nodded noncommittally. He still couldn't help but cram his worry into a little mental box, though: pleasantness could just be a cover ... Sevastyan himself had used it during his own Dark days. Just because he was an auror didn't mean Ciaran couldn't be... influenced.

Perhaps Sevastyan was being too analytical...

"I vould very much like to meet him," Sevastyan confirmed to both, his voice light and cheerful even though the cheer did not entirely reach his eyes. It was sort of there, but not fully.

Tav smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. You'd like him. He's been to Russia, you know. And he likes voka and says the Russian people are always hospitable."

Kiara smiled at Tav's statment and turned her gaze to Sevastyan and mouthed.

"I told him nothing"

Sevastyan couldn't prevent the grin that sprawled about his lips, between Kiara's silent statement and Tav's comments. He was surprised to hear that Ciaran had been to Russia. "I vos not avare of that," he remarked lightly. "Did you go vith him to Russia?"

It seemed pretty obvious that Sevastyan enjoyed Tavish's company, though had clearly not been around children so young very often. But all in all he felt he was doing well.

Tav shook his head. "That was before I was born. He went there cause of his work."

((Different timeline then above, couple hours after her meeting with Commander Kevin Marley))

Kiara placed along the frosty park ground, she had just come back from her meeting with the "Commander" of the "special forces" at the ministry. It was hardly a pleasant meeting. He was always interfering with her life, and it drove her up the wall. First he wanted her to break the heart of one of the most gental, kind hearted men she had ever known, then when she refused to that he threatened the safety of a 8 year old boy.. the son of the man she refused to hurt.

She sighed, "What am I going to do? I can't let Tav be put in danger, it is out of the question. But I can't bare to hurt Ciaran that way either" she said staring at the ring on her finger.

Leaning against a tree she hit her fists into is trunk in fustration, "Why is my family so messed up?" she asked seemingly to herself as she thought back to the meeting that ended rather badly, for both of them.

((flashback to other half of meeting))

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't Kill you right now" Kiara snapped.

Kevin smirked, though he couldn't hid the nervousness at being at the other end Kiara's wand. "Because my dear Headmistress, I am the only thing keeping your Purger firends in line, and I know secrets about you that you don't even know" he said.

"Oh I hightly doubt that" Kiara said, her wand still pointed at Kevins face.

Kevin smirked "Just keep thinking that deary, the shock on your face with be priceless" with that said he changed shapes and turned into a komono dragon.

He wipped his tail at her causeing Kiara to back off. Once he was free of her spell he turned back into human.

"Think about it Kiara dear, I can be a powerful ally if you let me" she said.

Kiara shook her head, "There is nothing to think about, if haveing you as an ally means hurting the ones I love then forget it!"

Kevin shrugged, "It is your choice then" he said as she turned around to leave. "I would keep a close eye in the little Tavish McConn if I were you"

Not moments after he said it, Kiara wand wipped out and a curse fired his way, it hit his arm an there was audible crack before he apperated away.

((End flash back))

"Why do all the people I love always end up in mortal danger, why? first purgers.... now my own Uncle" Kiara whispered had she looked her know bleeding knuckles from hiting the trees frost covered bark.

A small black cat approached Kiara and rubbed her head up against her arm.
"Meow." she purred, laying down. Blue eyes looked up at the Headmistress and a white tail flicked back and forth across the leaves nearby. The black cat appeared to be in need of companionship.

Kiara looked down at the black cat curiously.

"And where did you come from Kitty?" she asked as she knelt down and gently scratched the cat behind the ear.

The black cat continued to purr, her eyes closing. Her head lifted as Kiara's scratched her ears and and she rolled over onto her back. A terrible scar reached from the cat's neck to mid-belly.

Kiara gasped lightly when she saw then scar, though she contined to pet the cat.

"How did you get that hmm? your such a sweet thing who would darn hurt you?" she asked though she knew she wouldn't get answer it felt good to talk.

The cat meowed as if in agreement with Kiara and stretched, rolling over so that she laid on her side. Blue eyes sought out Kiara's and blinked in the sunlight. The tail continued to sweep at the leaves.

Kiara managed to smile as she petted the cat.

"I suppose I know how you feel... I have been there myself once...." she said.

"My my you are such a sweety... you sure you don't have firend some where?" she asked.

"Are you hungry?"

Continuing to purr, the cat ignored the question. Although cats may understand human language, they rarely show evidence of it. However her head did lift slightly at the question, and she was fairly thin...

Kiara gave a small smile and went through her bag and pulled out a tuna sandwich. Unwrapping it she used her finger to scrap the tuna off the bread.

"it is all I have for now, but if you want to come back with me I am sure we can find something more for you" she said holding out her finger that still had fish on it.
