The Third Floor Coriddor

"You are not a fool." she assured her, softly. "Just misguided. Just by saying you think it is foolish to mock love, you have made wonderful progress toward understanding it."

((I have to go. I've got school tomorrow and an early class. Good night!))

((Okay...sleep well))

Viper wiped the tears and straightened herself out. When she judged herself to look half as decent, she turned to face Eglantine.

"No professor. I am a fool. I'm tormenting myself by understanding something I can never have." her voice broke.

Pressing her lips together as she felt more tears start to come down she made her excuses. "Good night Professor," she whispered as she fled to her chambers in a blurry haze.

Eglantine said nothing as she watched Professor Viper hurry down the corridor. For a moment she thought about going after her, but decided it would be best to let her be alone. Sighing deeply, the Head of Gryffindor walked past the deactivated boggart without looking at it and descended the steps.

Kiara walked down the corridor, hoping to find an empty class room where dueling training could be held.

Then she heard a voice behind her a voice she hadn't head in six years.

"How could you do something so foolish Kia? How could you?"

Kiara spun around, her breath hitched in her throat.

"Danny?" she whispered.

"You evil witch, it is all your fault she is dead, you killed her. How could have killed a little baby girl?"

Yelled the man name Danny, he was tall and relatively good looking.

Kiara backed up against the wall of the corridor, pure fear in her eyes.

"I...I didn't....." kiara whispered.

"Don't lie to me, if it weren't for you she would still be alive!!"

Tears filled Kiara's eyes "No...."

"I was all yout fault admit!! You killed our baby girl!!"

Kiara sank to the floor no longer able to hold the tears back.

"No....I... didn't,,,,know I....I"

Ana kept reading, wandering aimlessly, waiting for somewhere less crowded where she could read. Well, read in peace.
This third-floor corridor seemed empty enough.
Ana wandered around the corner, and stopped. Something, maybe an instinct, was telling her something was wrong. She slipped the book back into her bag, pulled out her wand and peered around the corner.
The Headmistress ws slumped against the wall, sobbing.
A tall man was standing over her, yelling angrily. Ana took a step forward, unsure. Was he a Death Eater? A sharp crack snapped her mind into action.
A snarling dog, huge and slobbering, blood running from it's jaw gazed at her.
"No..."
Ana dropped her wand. "Not now...Not again..." She turned and ran, her bag falling to the floor.
A barking sounded as the beast followed. "Ana!"
Had she yelled? She wasn't sure... A yell burst through her mental barriers and forced her to stop. It's a boggart, a boggart! Ana listen-
Darien? Ana was hit by a feeling of deja vu.
The voice sighed. You bring this on yourself, Imperio!
She was floating, her body turning. She wasn't in control. Don't fight, turn around. Turn around, little sis, turn around.
Now laugh.A huge burst of laughter erupted from her mouth, as she fell to her knees howling with laughter. The dog visibly flinched, as though wounded. It turned, as the laughter echoed around it, turned tail and ran, switching forms and becoming a small raven, a finger, a rain droplet...
It vanished around the corner, and Darien was gone, the curse lifted. She would make him pay for that... Imperio! Of all the-
Her mind was racing. Where was the Headmistress?
Ana turned and started to run again. But this time she had a destination. She was going to get rid of that Boggart once and for all.
((To the library!))

Kiara vanished behind a corner when Miss Vaight faced her boggart.

"No..no Not again, I can't go through this again... not here of all places"

After Miss Vaight laughed the boggart away Kiara left for the grounds she needed to clear her thoughts.

Ana dropped her bag by the entrance to the corridor, safely tucked behind a suit of armour, grasped her wand and practised under her breath.
"Riddikulus..."
A small puff of smoke emerged from the tip of her wand. Was it meant to do that?
Ana heard a sound from further down the corridor. She forced herself to take deep breaths, fighting to keep the memories from her head. Sure enough, the huge dog appeared, teeth bared, growling ferociously. Ana swallowed, trying not to give into the fear. What was the incantation?
"Ri-ridikulus!"
There was a crack and the dog fell backwards. But it wasn't enough. The dog stood up once more and began to lope towards her.
"Ridikulus!Ri-" The dog crashed into her wand arm, knocking the wooden weapon into a corner. ((Can Boggarts actually touch people? I'm not sure...))
Ana fell, hitting her shoulder on the cold floor.
FLASHBACK
The dog leapt over the wall, to where a young girl sat, her brother hanging out of a tree nearby. It was foaming at the mouth, blood dripping from it's jaws and onto the grass. It was huge and brown, bones showing through the sinewy skin. The boy in the tree turned and saw it.
"Ana! Behind you!"
She spun around, facing the dog, only a metre away. It growled, barked and lunged at her. Ana ran. She charged through the grass, tripping on roots and looked over her shoulder. It was gone.
She hit something hard and heard a yell. "Ana! Watch out!" She screamed and fell backwards, her head thudding down onto the soft earth. The animal sniffed the air, barked and rose, lunging for her. Ana screamed and closed her eyes. There was a human yell, and an animal howl.
Then the pain.
It bit into her with a thousand knives and her eyes flew open with shock.
"No!" Darien flung himself forwards, crashing into the beast with light shining from him. "Darien!" She couldn't help him, her vision was fading... The two tumbled to the ground and her brother was thrown into a tree, the light fading... "Darien..."
The animal was knocked backwards, bleeding from the shoulder. It towered over her, blocking out the sun. She held up a hand and a small light erupted from the palm, knocking the beast backwards. But it flickered, the light vanishing with conscious thought. She was bleeding. She heard Darien yell something and saw a glowing light hit the animal, hard. She could hear Darien was by her side, yelling to someone... She couldn't see...
Her father's voice was loud, a soothing hand touched hers, her wounds stopped bleeding... But she was fading...
END FLASHBACK
Ana's eyes snapped open, tears streaming down her face as she yelled in fury.
"RIDIKULUS!" The animal shrank and changed form, running back down the hall. She couldn't move. Her head ached and her shoulder was bleeding. She touched the back of her head and felt something wet and sticky.
She was fading...A voice cried out, memories flooded her, and she fell.

Kiara took a breath she needed to face it and get it over with.

Rounding the corner she gasped as she saw Ana Vaight out cold on the floor.

"Oh no....."

She ran up to Miss Vaights still form, and noted her head wound she quickly cast a healing spell on it.

"how could you Kia?"

Kiara froze but didn't turn around as she levitated Miss Vaight with a flick of her wand.

Ignoring what the boggarts said Kiara brought Miss Vaight to the entrence of the third floor and set her down.

"Rennervate"

Ana was floating, voices buzzing in her ears... Her eyes opening, of their own accord.
That Boggart!
She sat up, wincing as her shoulder burned.
The memories resurfaced and she couldn't see...She couldn't think...
The darkness reclaimed her...

Finn Flitwick opened the door to the third floor corridor, having heard noises as he was passing. He saw Kiara and the wounded Ana. "What happened?" he asked, pulling out his wand as his eyes glanced left and right for suspicious movements.

Kiara sighed.

"A boggart, she must have come back after I left. She hit her head, I healed it but guess she is still in shock"

She said as she healed the wound on the Ana's shoulder.

"First year students shouldn't be going against Boggarts," Finn replied, his stance relaxing a little. "Should I capture the little bugger while you bring the student to the Hospital Wing?"

Kiara nodded she highly she doubted she could take another round with her boggart, so she had no objection.

"Yes, be my guest that boggart has caused enough problems"

((Ana and Kiara are in the hospital wing))

Finn nodded back before he slowly started walking down the shady corridor. It wasn't long before he heard a pair of footstep other then his own echo through the corridor. As he rounded a corner, Finn came face to face with a young woman with shoulder length blond hair. She stared back at him with disappointed grey eyes.

"Tsk..." Finn made an annoyed sound before he flicked his wand at the Boggart, hitting it with a special spell that would stun it for a brief moment. He then conjured himself a trunk and banished it at the Boggart, forcing it inside. With a final flick of his wand, the trunk's locks closed with several clicks.

Ana glared at her elder brother. The Boggart was gone, but the corridor was still deserted, which suited this family discussion perfectly.
"Why did you take my owl?"
Darien closed his eyes for an instant. "Why would I take your owl?"
Ana glared more fiercely, putting her hands on her hips. "Well who else would dare to use my owl? Who else would be stupid enough to send it to a pupil in the Great hall, WHILE I'M THERE?!"
"Okay, I might have borrowed your owl but-"
"Why were you sending a letter to a Gryffindor?! Have you not realised that Gryffindors and Slytherins don't get on well?"
Darien was annoyed. "Of course I know that, I just don't happen to think it's right!"
"What? You would prefer to befriend mudbloods and idiots? Are you trying to destroy the family?"
"No- Of course I don't want to befriend filthy mudbloods...But some Gryffindors are pure or half blood-"
Ana was shocked. "What's happened to you? Listen to yourself! You sound like a bloody Hufflepuff! Where's my brother gone? The brother who stuck up for me, who upheld the honour of our family?"
Darien's shoulders slumped. He'd become weak. He was ashamed. "I-I didn't-"
Ana noticed his shame. "Darien..." Her voice was quieter, more affectionate. "I know you're still sad about all that happened at Durmstrang... and about Jake, but you have to get over it. We're Vaights, remember? And we are expected to act like them."
Darien nodded and stood up straight, eyes burning with renewed Slytherin darkness. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me...And I don't intend to let it happen again."
Ana smiled. "That's my brother. See you in the common room."
Darien waved to his sister then started to walk aimlessly. He needed to think. He'd become weak and pathetic. That needed to be dealt with. He was a Vaight for Merlin's sake. It was time to start acting like one...at least in public.

Nicolas walked up the stairs to the third floor. How stupid was his cousin? To date that... that... idiot?

Darien stormed up some staris, not noticing where he was going.
Bloody pony boy...
He didn't even get to pound him. He looked up and stopped dead.
"Casillas..."

Nicolas looked up as his name was mentioned. "Vaight."

"Where's Diana?"

"Stay away from my cousin!" Nicolas said. "You and her cannot be together."

Darien snorted.
"Oh yes, because I really care what you think." He flicked his wand into his hand.
"And I will be together with your cousin, whether you like it or not."

"You should care what I think," Nicolas said confidently. "Because if I tell Diana to break it off with you, she would."

Darien flinched inwardly, but remained outwardly confident.
"Why do I doubt that? Maybe it's because this information is coming from a guy with a pony!"
