"Horatio, could you leave for a moment..." Eglantine muttered. Horatio slipped his pipe into his mouth, sighing.
"Of course, sweetbriar." he stated, rising from his chair and taking his plate with him.

As soon as the door closed behind Horatio, Eglantine laid back on the couch, her eyes closing.
"Edwin is not my son, Kiara and we both know that. I want you to be my heir, not just for the money or the estate. If anything were to happen to me, you would be able to take care of him. Legally you would be my daughter...and no one would think twice about an older sibling taking custody of her younger brother..."

She coughed harshly.

Kiara was in shock for a moment, her Eglantines heir? I was the last thing she would have epected her to say. Not that it didn't feel honoring to be made a member of Eglantine's family.

At Eglantine's cough Kiara rose and conjured a goblet of water before sitting next to her.

"Here, this might help, and Eglantine I would be honoured" she said.

Eglantine took the goblet. "As would I, Kiara. Thank you." She sipped the water, but soon handed it back, covering her mouth with her hand. Her hands shook violently and a small rivet of blood dribbled down her chin.

Kiara's eyes widened "Not again" she whispered, as she conjured a cloth and handed it to Eglantine as well as summoning several potion.

"Horatio! hurry back in here for heavens sake!" she said loudly as she took out her wand to try and deterine what was wrong with Eglantine exactly.

"Eglantine if you can answer me where does it hurt? has this happened recently?" Kiara questioned.

Horatio hurried in, having heard Kiara call. Seeing the blood on Eglantine's chin, he quickly pulled out his wand.
"What happened?" he asked, a slight note of panic in his voice. He noted with barely contained horror that the blood had already begun to stain Eglantine's pale robes.

"I'm sorry..." Eglantine gasped, it was obviously hard for her to breathe as she was now gasping for every breath. "I tried...to walk... and fell."

Horatio cursed in Gaelic. "She must have rebroken her ribs, Kiara. Try to make her comfortable, I'll go get a few more potions." he ran from the room and flooed to his chambers via the fireplace.

Not wanting to move her to much Kiara used her magic to gently lay Eglantine on her side, carefully to avoid forcing her to move her ribs.

"Really Eglantine you must stop trying to walk by your self for the time being. Of coure you are going to fall, thats why I offered to help but I nor Horatio can help if you don't say something" she said worriedly.

"You worse then I am, you know that right?"

Kiara summond a potion that was her emergancy life line on full moons that helped with getting oxygen in the blood with minamal amount of breathing. It was temporary but it would last afew minutes at least.

"Here this will help you breathe easier" she said as she brought the vile to Eglantines lips.

Eglantine coughed several times, a hacking cough that brought up more blood and a made it harder for her to breathe.

She attempted to take the potion, but the coughing interfered. "Edwin...promise?" she muttered, her dark green eyes gazing up at Kiara.

"I promise Eglantine, but don't start talking like that, you will be fine" she said though worry shone in her eyes.

Getting up her hurriedly grabed a muggle first aid kit from her shelf.

Pulling out a needle she filled the needle with the potion. It was the only thing she could think off to help Eglantine now.

"Hurry up Horatio" she thought as she brought the needle to Eglantines arm where she would inject the much needed potion.

"Es ist mehr..."((there is more)) Eglantine gasped. "Mon père est mort." ((My father died)) She seemed oblivious to the fact that she was switching between languages.
"He seeks me out, Kiara!" there was an heightened note of fear in her voice.

Kiara looked at Eglantine in worry as she injected the potion into Eglantine's blood stream.

"Who is Eglantine" she asked as she wipped the blood off Eglantin's face.

Fear entered her eyes at what Eglantine ment.

"Actually tell me after you we get you stabised alright you need all the breathe you can get" kiara breathed.

"Richard's killer..." Eglantine muttered, her breathing becoming less laboured. "An auror...McConn."

Kiara froze "W..what?..... Eglantine? what do you mean?" she refused to believe it could have been Ciaran.

"what is going on Eglantine?" she asked although she wasn't she wanted to know the answer.

Eglantine opened her mouth to respond, but her eyes rolled back and she became unconscious, her body going limp.

Horatio rushed back into the room by means of the fireplace and handed Kiara two potions, while he poured the first one down her throat, gently rubbing the sides of her neck to make sure it went down.

"Kiara, did she say anything else? Are you all right?"

Kiara looked at Eglantine fearfully for a second all colour stripped from her face, fear of what she could have meant about Richerds killer, and for her current health.

"I am not sure Horatio she couldn't complete her sentence's it... it dosen't make sense... I..I"

Taking a deep breath ignoring slight tightening she asked "Will she be alright?"

Horatio nodded, concerned at how pale Kiara had gotten. "Yes, if it's just her ribs. But she seemed agitated... has been ever since the day she got that letter..."

He patted her hand as he took the other two potions to give to Eglantine. "Don't worry so."

Kiara looked up at the mention of a letter "Letter? what latter? did she say what it said? Where is it?" Kiara questioned rapidly she need to know what the letter said hoping it would shed some light on what Eglantine said.

For she didn't like what it sounded like, not one bit, she needed to make sence of it all.

"I have no idea where it is." Horatio responded. "She didn't say what it said or where she put it. "Why?"

Kiara bit her lip, a nervous habit now as she looked at Eglantine, "She said afew phrases in a different language I didn't understand and then as she said someone was seeking her out. The she mentioned Richard's killer... Then... then next name she said I refuse to believe is what she really ment... she said it was a Auror...McConn." she whispered the last part faintly.

"I refuse to believe it was him, I need to find out what she really meant, I won't jump to conclusions, not on this.... I need to make sence of this" she said.

"Ciaran, impossible!" Horatio exclaimed, turning to stare at Eglantine. "But you're right, we shouldn't jump to conclusions." he looked beyond worried.

Kiara nodded and looked slightly relived that Horatio was on the same page she was. "When did things get so complicated Horatio? When someone could just say what they meant? and not keep so many secerets" she said as she held on to Eglantines hand.

Horatio sighed, leaning back in a chair, placing his pipe into his mouth.
"I have no idea... I thought at first she was just a professor with poor fortune and poorer health. Then I uncover that she is in fact one of the leading witches of our day and that she has delved deeper in the dark arts than I ever did... and now... I am left wondering if we will learn anything else shockingly new. Eglantine Rosier-DeLanquar is not a woman for the faint of heart."

Kiara nodded suddenly looking tired again, though for a completely different reason this time.

"I know, I learned long ago never to underestemate her, but I fear she has more on her shoulders then I do, much more....."

She sighed as she stood up vanishing the needle putting away the first aid kit.

"I wish I knew what she meant though, I know Ciaran couldn'r have been one of the aurors that were a part of the purging... I doesn't make sence what roll would he a play in this? why did she mention him?" she asked more to herself as she paced around the room.

"Maybe she meant he knew about it..." Horatio mused. The very idea that his nephew could possibly have been involved in the murder of Eglantine's husband was nerve shattering.

"Perhaps we should ask him about it...subtly of course..."

Kiara sighed, how does someone ask about something like this subtly?
"I suppose... I wouldn't know where to start though" she said.

Looking at Eglantine she sighed.

"We should put her in to my bed, she may find the bed more comforatble" sugested Kiara.

"Then I'll fire call Ciaran...."

"Okay." Horatio nodded. "I'll go with you to speak with Ciaran if you wish... consider me moral support..." he smiled.
