The Great Hall

Professor DeLanquar sat at her usual place at the Head Table, carefully watching her Gryffindors as they ate their meal. She had no idea where her son, Edwin was, but figured he was close by. She did not have the energy to chase him constantly.

A smile crossed her face as she finally spotted the energetic three year old weaving his way through the tables. Gryffindor appeared to be his destination.

"Jwuic pwes!" Edwin demanded, climbing up beside the nearest Gryffindor.

Mary watched as a three year old boy came running past the table, and chuckled. Aw! That's so cute! she looked back at her plate of food. her stomach started to growl. Gee, I'm hungrier than I thought. She then took a bite out of her food.

Delilah came threw the doors of the great hall dramtically, "Oh my look at all the delicious food here!" she smiled sitting down eating like a young lady. Her mother taught her well. She saw a 3 year old boy and rolled her eyes

Oh how i hate kids she thought.

Edwin poked the girl again, despite knowing it was bad manners to do so. "Cwan I wav jwuic pweas?" he half asked half demanded. His aunt Esis would have given it to him by now... and would Kiara and Viper.

"Oh." Mary said, smiling at the little boy. "Of course!" She went for a cup sitting near the edge of the table and handed it to him. "There you go."

Edwin took the cup, giving her his most "dashing" smile. A little ham, he loved attention.
"I'm Edwin!" he stated, propping himself up on the table and sipping the juice. "Wha your nwame?"

"Why, hello, Edwin." she said, smiling at him. "I'm Mary."

Edwin set the juice cup down and reached around it for a roll, knocking the cup over with his elbow. He watched both amused and horrified as it ran down the table to pour into the nice girl's lap.
"Oopsie."

Mary was ready to scream, but she quickly held her composure as the juice dripped on her lap. "It's okay." She told Edwin, as she grabbed a napkin and wiped up the spill. she then pulled out her wand and used a spell to clean up the juice that spilled all over her.

Edwin giggled. "Thwat wa funny." he laughed, smiling at Mary. He liked her. Not only did she not blow up at him for the juice but she had also simply cleaned it up.

"Indeed it was." Mary replied, smiling at Edwin. "Would you like more juice?" she asked him.

Edwin nodded. "Yws pweas." he rubbed his elbow with his hand, seeing it was red from knocking against the cup. His mama would kiss it better if she wasn't busy, but he decided he was a big enough boy to not need a kiss.
"Wha awe you in?" he asked, meaning both house and grade. She looked like a happy Gryffindor, he thought, not understanding the different colours.

"Oh." Mary said. "I'm a sixth year Gryffindor." She answered, assuming that's what he meant. she poured juice into his cup, and gave it to him.

"Danke!" he smiled, taking the cup, hoping not to spill it on her this time. "I'm thwee!" His chest went out with pride and he looked serious. After all, being three was terribly large for any toddler. He had his own dog and Mama had even said he may get his bed soon, instead of the crib.

Mary smiled, giving him an amazed look. "Three?! Wow! You're on your way to becoming an adult, you must be really happy about that."

Edwin beamed. Finally someone who understood his joy.
"Yeah! And I'm gowa be a Switherin."

Mary was a little surprised by this answer. She was so used to kids from her own area, growing up saying the last house they wanted to be in was Slytherin that it made it somewhat of a shock. Of course, she didn't mind Slytherins at all, but the bias was there in other people.
She smiled at the boy politely, hiding her surprise. "Is that so?" she said. "Well, I'm sure you'll make a great student, here."

"Yeah, Mama wa is Switherin." he stated proudly, which wasn't true, but made sense to him. After all, Professor DeLanquar had not attended Hogwarts at all, though if she had, being a Rosier, she would have been placed in Slytherin. The young mind of a three year old could not understand all of that though and he said the easiest thing.

"Aw." She said, smiling at him. "Well I hope you get your wish, Edwin."

"Howatio saw "if ya wis uwon a swtar, mwak..." he trailed off, forgetting the rest. "Swonthing."

Mary laughed. "Anything your heart desires will come to you?" She responded. Her grandparents were muggles, so every time she and her brother, Billie would go over their house, they would always pass the time by watching what muggles call "movies" in the grandparents' cupboard, which consisted mostly of Disney movies, like "Pinocchio", "Mary Poppins", "Little Mermaid", "Lion King", and pretty much anything else branded with that name. So, naturally, she would know the quote.

"Yeah!" he smiled, not exactly sure what Mary had said, but liking the sound of it. "Wik Pinwocio he gwot ta be a weal boy and I'w gwet to bwe Slwirthin. Bwut Mama swaid I cwan kep my pwup." the subject change escaped his notice... It suddenly became more important to talk about his puppy, Toliver, than his desire to be in Slytherin like his Aunt Viper.

"Aw, that's good to hear!" Mary said. "What's your puppy's name?"

"Towiver. He gowa be weally big!" Edwin assured Mary. Toliver, being a St. Bernard puppy had the potential to become quite large...which was the main reason his mama wasn't sure about keeping it.

"I'm sure he will be." Mary said, smiling. "And I'm sure you'll take good care of it." She told him. "I have a pet of my own, actually. He's a cat named Pfieffer."
