The Great Hall

"Wa Piffer mean?" Edwin asked, curious about the name. "I gota a cwat too. Her nwame is Lwenty." Of course said cat did not need to be explained... as it was in actually his mother. There was a "real" cat as well, but it did its best to stay out of the boy's loving grip.

((It's actually pronounced Feiffer. the P's silent. You know, like Michelle Pfeiffer. That was for some reason the first name that popped in my head that sounded like a good name for a cat. Guess it's because she played catwoman in a Batman movie? Actually, I just realized that. lol.))

"Oh, Well, in German, it means 'Whistle'. I named him that because I always felt that when cats make sounds, it sometimes sounds like a whistle." She told Edwin. when he told her about his cat, she smiled. "Aw, that's cute! How many pets do you own?"

((nods, I know. Edwin likes playing with things that sound funny. =) Lovely name btw))

Edwin wrinkled his nose. "Ich kann nicht pfeifen"(I can't whistle) he murmured, obviously sadden by the revealing fact. "Ich möchte..." (I want to) he added, reverting to German, since his mama expected it when she gave him a German word.

"Wow." Mary said, impressed by the boy's knowledge in language. "You know German?"

Edwin nodded, smiling proudly. "Ja. An Fwench two, mama sways I have to sway em when I'm bad." he smiled angelically, as if the times of being bad were slim and none.

Slipping into the Great Hall, Tommy sat at the Hufflepuff table and began to fill up his plate. He was starving and only had so much time before he had to rush to class. Feeling bored, he poked at his eggs.

Alexandria walked in the Great Hall and smiled while walking slowly to the slytherin table picking up food little at a time. She then picked up her fork and knife and eating like a polite lady like she was raised.

Diana was eating her breakfast peacefully when suddenly the post arrived.

"About time," Nicolas said looking up. "I'm craving chocolate."

Diana rolled her eyes. That's when she noticed a letter addressed to her from her Grandfather. She saw Artemis fly to Nicolas and delivered a similar letter, along with the usual weekly chocolates from home.

She had a feeling, this was not going to be good.

A sharp cry reached Darien's ears and he glanced up in time for a letter to hit him in the face.

Graham the eagle soared on past, seeming to be grinning.

Flushing furiously, Darien glanced at the writing on the letter. What the hell? His father never wrote to him...Sighing, he cut open the letter and began to read.

"...Sh!t."

Her letter was as cordial as can be, with no hint of warmth anywhere. It just stated the facts. A newspaper article had more emotion. Well it seemed as if Ferderico was still angry with her.

However, Diana soon forgot how the letter was written, when what was written started to process.

She looked quickly up at Nicolas. His face was stoic, but his hand was shaking more violently by the second.

"What's up?" Helena said looking at the two Casillas.

She was ignored. "Nick?" Diana said softly.

Nicolas stood up wordlessly and headed out.

"Whoa, Mister..." Helena said bewildered. "What's up with him?" She asked Diana.

"Sorry Hel, I'll explain later." Diana said hastily before heading out after Nicolas.

Darien glanced across at Diana...Where was she?

He noticed her and Nick leaving, and without thinking he stuffed the letter into his pocket and started to follow.

Despite the almost victorious tone of the letter, he couldn't see there was anything to be overly thrilled about. And if Diana was worried...he had to see her.

Even if he hated Nick's guts.

((Different time line))

Alex entered the Great Hall alone and sat down away from everyone. She was waiting for Raven, her friend, and while she was she took a sip of pumpkin juice and relaxed in the noisy hall.

Raven walked up to Alex with Joan and sat down across from Alex. "Hey Alex, sorry for being late...I was side tracked," Raven explained looking at Joan as she sat down as well.

Raven took a bite of soup and not really satisfied with it. She then took a sip of pumpkin juice and thought it was good enough.

Joan just sat down quietly looking down.

Alex looked at the 1st year Ravenclaw, they were in the same grade but Alex was obviously older.

"What is a Ravenclaw doing here?" she asked looking at the new girl with disgust.

Raven looked at Alex then darted her eyes to Joan. She was looking down.

"Her name is Joan she came up to me earlier today in the library, she's my friend," Raven said taking another bite of her unsatisfying soup.

Alex made a face and drank some more of her pumpkin juice. She then set her goblet down and continued to talk as if Joan wasn't there, "so anyways Raven, I saw you getting attacked by dementors how terrifying good thing you know that patronus spell."

Raven couldn't believe she was hanging out with a bunch of 1st years, she wished there were more 7th year Slytherin's around.

"Yeah it was so frightening," Raven said sarcastically. "Hey Joan, you alright?" she asked.

Joan looked up. "Yeah im alright." she answered.

Raven didn't say anything else. She pushed her food away and took out her notes once again to study for her N.E.W.Ts potion class.

Joan sighed. "Look if I can't hang out with Slytherins i'll just go." Joan said.

Raven looked back up at Joan, "I don't mind you here, so stay if you like." Raven said and continued studying. She was just going to ignore Alex anyways even if Joan was there or not.

"What are you studying?" Joan asked.

Raven looked up at Joan and replied, "My N.E.W.Ts for Potions." She shuffled through some papers then wrote down some quick notes to summon up what the notes were saying. Then went back to reading the notes.

Alex watched Raven shuffling through her notes and writing down everything. She became bored easily, "That sucks you have to go through with NEWTs," she said.
