Lessons and Assignments

Raven turned her head towards the door seeing Taylor standing in front of it making a fool out of himself. She laughed when he was walking towards her. Raven looked up and said, "the ceiling that's what's up" she looked at him on the ground.

Raven burst out laughing, "You dork get up." She helped him up and put his chair correctly and shook her head, "You're one weird friend."

Taylor laughed with his best friend Raven, "Yeah, but I'm YOU'RE weird friend," he said squirming in his chair, he couldn't wait for the class to start. "This class is my favorite class its so easy!" he smiled looking straight ahead.

Becca and Delilah walked in the room laughing with each other and noticed that the class was practically empty. Becca gave a loud digh when she saw the two Slytherins sitting next to each other "come on Delilah lets go here."

Becca sat down away from the 2 Slytherins with Delilah next to her telling her not to mess with either of them unless she was next to the infirmary.

Raven gave an evil glare at Becca remembering the previous day of what happened. She hugged Taylor's arm knowing everything is going to be OK with him around her.

Cosette walked in the classroom shyly seeing she wasn't all that late. She walked towards her sister Delilah and sat next to her, "hello Delilah," she smiled and saw her sister's friend next to her, "nice to meet you, my name is Cosette," she introduced herself to the Hufflepuff girl.

Becca looked away at Raven and smiled at Cosette "hi Cosette, I'm Becca, how are you?" she smiled kindly and friendly.

Delilah laughed, "Cosette I'm glad your making friends with the right people! Becca loves fashion so we can help you!" She smiled excetidly.

Cosette smiled at the cheerful Hufflepuff, "I'm fine, and yourself?" she used all her manners that her mother and father taught her not trying to be rude, but when her sister said something about fashion Cosette rolled her eyes and getting up, "I do not enjoy fashion," she said trying not to be rude.

She walked up to the snickering Slytherins and smiled, "Hi, do you mind if I can hang out with you?"

Taylor looked at the Ravenclaw and gave a brutal look, "And why should we allow you to sit with us?" he asked harshly not giving a care to the young Ravenclaw. "Why won't you sit next to your little friends over there? You look perfect with them." He wrapped a arm around Raven.

Cosette's eyes dropped down to the floor and was saddened about the Slytherin's answer.

Raven felt bad for her, being inside the infirmary with Cosette for only a few minutes really makes a difference. "Taylor she can sit with us," she smiled removing his arm around her and grabbing a seat for her friend, "your a really nice person Cosette, really nice people deserve to sit next to us." She smiled at her new friend and didn't care what Taylor says.

Cosette smiled sitting down next to Raven, "thank you Raven, whenever you need help for anything please just ask."

"O.k thanks Cosette."

"You're welcome."

Becca looked at Raven in disgrace, she let Cosette be friends with her but not herself? Delilah was also in rage she couldn't be friends with Raven but why could her own sister be friends with Raven? It made no sence to either of them.

Tommy sat in his chair, working on the assignment the class had been given. Occasionally his eyes would drift to the students around him... but they always returned to his work. After all, he didn't have many friends and doubted they would want to befriend him...

Raven turned around to Becca and gave her a evil smile practically laughing and tormenting her. She turned around and was talking to Taylor and Cosette.

Delilah had her jaw dropped, her own twin sister just walked off on he like that. She felt hurt and dissapointed.

"Don't worry about them, we have each other," Becca tried to comfort Delilah.
"Your right," Delilah replied back.

Raven turned to them and gave a little smirk stealing their friend away from them. She turned around and talked with her 2 friends, Taylor and Cosette, and waited for the teacher to start class. She already had her Parchment paper, quill, and ink out ready for class.

Moondarious stumbles into the class room out of breath asking, "What...class is... this." After catching his breath he realizes that he is not only late but he is interrupting class.

Raven turned toward the door looking at the Gryffindor, "Its DADA, and your not late, class hasn't even begun," Raven scowled turning back to Taylor and Cosette.

Taylor looked at the first year Gryffindor and snickered, "He looks lst and dumb, huh Raven?" he whispered to Raven. He was excited to see how he can mess with the Gruffindor

Raven gave a small snicker as well watching the breathless Gryffindor.

Malcolm walked into the room, and sat at his desk. He prepared his quill, put in his books in order, and sat quietly waiting for his teacher to start class.

Sevastyan watched as more students filed into the classroom. Once it seemed like the entire class was assembled, the Russian wizard stood to address the class. This lesson would be somewhat different than the last one. Firstly, the Dementor mannequin was no longer gliding around the room. Secondly, portraits of wizards and witches in combat, and the effects of different spells used on the human body - a select few of them none too pleasant - lined the walls. The Russian called class to attention with a loud series of fireworks from his wand.

"Today, ve vill be covering Curses. Who, for five House points, can tell me vot the difference is betveen a curse... and a jinx?" Sevastyan addressed and then asked.

Raven rose her hand nice and high knowing the answer to the question. Once she was called she answered to the question, "A curse is something really bad and its effects normally last quite a long time. A Jinx, however, lasts a small amount of time," she answered confidently, hoping it was the right answer.

"That is vone vay to put it, vith some of them, as some jinxes do vear off vith time," Sevastyan nodded in Raven's direction. "Five points to Slytherin.

"Jinxes - also sometimes known as hexes - are very similar to curses in that they create a negative effect, or even damage, upon the target. Curses are also rather more powverful than jinxes, for they require a lot more on the caster's part in terms of intention.

"Is the use of a jinx, in your opinion, a defensive or offensive tactic? Or can they be used as both?" he asked the assembled students. Some of them, he knew, were part of the Dueling Club.

Delilah rose her hand to be called then answered, "I believe they can be both, deffensive and offensive" she gussed.

Sevastyan nodded, pleased with that answer for he as well believed jinxes to have both qualities for defense and offense. "Very good; five points to Gryffindor.

"Some people believe that jinxes and counter-jinxes are no vorse than curses, being given a different category to make them more acceptable... such as Vilbert Slinkhard in his book 'Defensive Magical Theory.' This is not so: jinxes are very much an integral part of defensive magic, even ven vone's defense reqvires you to go on the offensive.

"I am going to assume you have all at vone point performed 'Locomotor Mortis' - the Leg-Locker Curse. Who vould like to share their opinions as to vy this particular piece of magic is termed a curse and not a jinx?"

Becca rose her hand and smiled, "Because in the leg-locker curse you can still move about, you might not be able to walk but it is possible to hop around."

Sevastyan nodded and replied, "Not only that, but to reverse its effects vone needs to know the counter-curse. Jinxes usually vear off or halt after a time. Five points to Hufflepuff.

"Who here can tell me vot they know about the Unforgivable Curses - how many are there, and vy they are 'unforgivable'?"
