Defense Office

Viper nodded, catching the glint in the Headmistress's eye. "I'll take that bet." she said with a challenging smile.

"Well, I hope you both know that you have both forfeited your baby-sitting rights." Eglantine joked, eye flashing with feigned anger. "The corrupt thoughts you two have! How did you ever become teachers?"

Viper mock-gaped. "Those aren't corrupt thoughts, they're facts! On my life, Dawlish is gay! Would you like me to call him in and ask him?"

She paused looking at Edwin who looked confused at the chatter surrounding him. "And as for the lost babysitting rights, I thank you. It's lovely to know that my veins are safe from toddler puncture wounds. Honestly, the kids got about two, three teeth and he still manages to nick my vein!"

"Please do not!" Eglantine quickly assured her. "I believe you and do not need Mr. Dawlish's confirmation." Still shaking her head, Eglantine turned for the door. "Facts indeed..."

Kiara laughed.

"It is called gossip Eglantine, and neither of us were teacher's to begin with remember? old habits die hard"

Viper smiled at Eglantine's response. "I'm glad of that. Truth be told, Dawlish isn't too fond of me..."

"I can see why..." Eglantine muttered, casting a disapproving look in both of the other women's direction. "Gossip is never constructive..."

Viper shook her head. "I'm not fond of gossip either. I loathe it. However, what I know about the aurors and ministry people are facts. Things that are proven. Gossip is just random things people make up on a whim because their bored with their own lives. There's a difference."

Kiara looked at Viper curiously.

"How would you know so much the people my department anyway?

Viper shrugged. "Aurors are quite awful at whispering. Not to mention the fact that I'm not blind. I've seen how Dawlish looks at Shacklebolt! And I've seen Lavender Brown and Ron Weasly together at leaky Cauldron! I've even seen Luna Lovegood exiting Harry Potter's office looking very desheveled!" Viper nodded with a slight smirk.

Eglantine shook her head. Part of gossip was listening and she was not about to partake in it.

"Enjoy your spoils." Eglantine remarked, taking Edwin to go eat his lunch.

Kiara sat in the defence office with a hundred essays to grade.

"They arn't bad..... not great either though" she said as she wrote another "A" on the paper.

There was a firm knock on the door.

Placing the quill down Kiara turned to the door.

"Come in it is unlocked"

A teenaged boy of 16 walked into the office. "Hello Headmistress," he said politely. "I'm Nicolas Casillas, I believe my uncle sent you an owl considering my transfer to Hogwarts."

Kiara nodded,

"Yes, I see you are settling right in, congratuations on making Gryffindor. Was there something you wanted to see me about?"

"Yes... ((I am a vampire! haha no I'm just kidding.)) I was wondering, what kinds of pets can we have exactly?" Nick hinted that he had a very unsual pet under his sleeve.

Kiara raised her eye brow "that all depends on what the pet is Mr. Casillas"

"I've a salamander," and as he said it, it came out from his sleeve. "But I don't think it should be a problem... however, I do have something else."

"It's an...." Nick hesitated before actually saying what it was. He didn't exactly adverstise it to the general public but he figured he could trust the Headmistress. "It's an Aethonon."

Kiara looked up in interest.

"A winged horse? really? Very interesting. It is male or female"

"She's female. Her name is Persephone." Nick said smiling.

Kiara smiled, she had read some of the legends of the greek goddess and how she became queen of the underworld.

"It is a lovely name, well I don't any problem in why she can't remain here at hogwarts. Do you alrealy have a spot for her in the stable?"

Nick's face broke into a genuine smile of happiness when the Headmistress gave the okay. Then he frowned slightly, "We have stables?"

Kiara nodded "Students usually don't go to them, as to most students the stables are empty... Thestrals"

But she didn't miss his frown.

"Does she not like stables, if not we can work something out... Hmm you wouldn't happen to be related to Diana Casillas would you?"
