The Great Hall

"But he is not Tom Riddle." Eglantine protested. "He has been altered by Excessum."

Kiara shrugged "Maybe, but it did nothing to his blood and DNA, which is why we need the idenitity potion"

Viper paused for a moment, smiling softly as she noticed how Eglantine was handling the infant. The woman may not have had any children of her own, but she certainly was gifted with them. Noticing how the two women were now staring expectantly at her. Breaking her gaze she turned to them and showed them the black dragonskin portfolio with her family crest and initals engraved in silver.

"Novus vita. My own creation! Like the polyjuice potion, it requires another's essence. It is designed to target the drinker's DNA, changing and morphing it to match the added essence or essences in our case. The potion's base is already brewed, lacking only a few more ingredients and, of course, the essences." she met Eglantine's gaze. "I leave this decision in your hands, Professor."

"I will do it." Eglantine whispered.

Viper nodded. "Shall he have only your DNA or your husband's as well?"

"Just mine." Eglantine muttered. "My husband's body was cremated and I do not have any DNA of his."

Viper raised an eyebrow. She had expected Eglantine to jump at the chance to have a child represent both her and her late husband. "If you're sure...however, anything you have of his would suffice. An article of clothing, jewelry..." Viper didn't want to put any pressure on Eglantine. She merely wanted to ensure that she was aware of all the options, for the potion would be very difficult to reverse should she change her mind."

"You do not understand, Professor." She replied. "I have nothing of his." Eglantine smiled sadly as Edwin stuffed another piece of muffin into his mouth.

Viper nodded in understanding. "I see..." a thought struck her as a solution to her problem but she was not sure the Professor would approve. Biting her lip she ventured. "But would you want to? If the opportunity ever presented itself?"

"That depends on what you have in mind..." Eglantine stated carefully. Edwin reached for her cup and as she attempted to catch his hand, ironically she tipped the cup over resulting in cold water spilling all over Eglantine's plate and lap. Edwin giggled in delight over the unexpected shower, as Eglantine groaned.

Viper fought a laugh as she waved her hand, drying Eglantine immediately. She paused for a moment contemplating how to delicately present the situation, a light blush splashing her pale cheeks. "Well, assuming you and your husband were...very much married....it is possible that," Viper sighed at the awkwardness. This wasn't quite a conversation she enjoyed having.

"It's possible that because you were a married witch, your DNA may contain traces of his." she bit her lip, hoping that Professor Delanquar would not find her next question far too inappropriate, not to mention personal. "Did you and your husband ever try conceiving? Because then the chances of you carrying traces of his DNA would be increased."

Eglantine paled greatly, the mirth in her eyes from the spill dimming. "Um..." she stammered. "I miscarried once." the answer was the best one she could come up with on such a personal question.

Viper's eyes widened slightly at Eglantine's confession. At the look on the older woman's face, Viper immeidately filled with guilt at causing Eglantine to react in this matter. "I see...well then it is very likely that the potion will work for both of you."

She bit her lip even harder, feeling more awful by the minute. Her nails had dug into her hands, drawing quite a bit of blood, although Viper did not notice. She sighed. "I'm sorry, Professor. It was far too personal of a question, especially considering our relationship. I had absolutely no right to ask that of you. Please forgive me."

Eglantine nodded, feeding Edwin the last of the muffin. "Of course. You were only trying to help. I suppose I'm just tired." she offered Viper a sincere smile.
"Would you mind passing the juice?"

Viper nodded, smiling slightly. "Of course, Professor." she turned to reach for the juice when she realized that there were four juices beside her: pumpkin, orange, grape, and apple. "Which one?" she asked, looking to Eglantine.

"Apple is probably best." Eglantine replied, wiping crumbs from Edwin's mouth. "I named him Edwin Richard. Do you like the name?" she asked, lifting an eyebrow.

Viper nodded, smiling softly as she poured the apple juice into a conjured sippy cup, handing it to Eglantine. "It's lovely. After your husband?"

She nodded. "My husband's name was Richard and his father's name was Edwin. It seemed appropriate."

"It is. Very much so. " Viper smiled. But then remembering the reason she was even there, she sprung back into action. "We haven't much time." she said hastily, rising from her chair. "Whore-mione will be here with her minions soon." she paused when she realized what words slipped from her mouth, wondering if children Edwin's age picked up on words easily, for she had a feeling Eglantine wouldn't be too pleased if her child's first few words were nasty ones like 'whore' on account of Viper's inability ro conceal her disdain of a certain witch.

"Of course." Eglantine set Edwin on the floor, and hastened to rise from her chair. "Shall we go to my chambers or yours?" Edwin lifted his arms to be picked up, but she took his hand instead.

"My chambers. I already have the potion set up." Viper said as she lead the way to her chambers.

Eglantine followed Viper out of the Great Hall, leading a happy toddler beside her.

As Viper and Eglantine left to complete the potion, Kiara sighed,

"I guess I have the wonderful job of holding Hermione Granger and the others back until it is finished"

((lol, I thought you were going to come along too...did you want to be Hermione?))

(( Yeah I guess, beside not really much for Kiara to do with the idenitity potion thing anyway, other then watch. Besides it will be fun playing some one Viper really hates))
