Lessons and Homework

The buzzing drowned out nearly everything. It was getting louder. But he heard her.
He suddenly realised what a strange conversation it would be for Viper to listen to.
He also realised that she'd probably know about his wolf side if he didn't focus on staying human.
His concentration had gone.
He swore.
But all that came out was a growl.

"Darien, no!" Diana screamed.

The wolf opened it's eyes, the room seeming taller and more alien. The moving furniture, buzzing magic and furious Professor were taken in a glance.
The wolf bared it's teeth and growled.
It heard a scream and turned, sniffing at the air.
Diana.
Darien the wolf recognised her, as though part of his pack and leapt between her and Viper, in a protective stance.
His dark eyes glared fiercely at Viper, daring her to attack.
A small human part of his mind swore.

"Darien," Diana fell on the floor. "Darien, don't do this, she's a Professor. You might get expelled if this goes any further. Darien please... "

Casey walked up to the door when she heard Diana yell.

"No..."

Pushing the potions lab door opened Casey ran inside to see wolf form Darien growling threateningly at Professor Viper.

Casey ran in front of Viper.

"Darien No.. concentrate, regain control..."

(lol, lustre!)

Viper glared at the wolf in front of her. with her wand drawn, pushing Ms.Silvertongue out of the way.

"You dare attack me? After breaking into my classroom to snog? I'm warning you now, Mr.Vaight. I am not a Professor by choice, thereforre should this go any fruther I shall not respond as a merciful Professor to a student." Viper warned her wand held steady, daring him to attack.

Casey not expecting the push from Viper, fell to the floor.

Wincing in pain slightly from the impact.

Darien growled, but managed to regain some control, changing his vocal chords back to human. His party trick.
"Magic...didn't mean to...your fault..." Then his mind flickered and he howled, breaking an empty bottle nearby.
The buzzing in his ears receded slightly as Viper's wand absorbed some of it. The air was less full of uncontrollable noise.
The human part of Darien fought back slightly, pushing it's way further to the surface.
Have to control self... Cannot attack Viper... Have to think... Diana... Casey... Control...
His thought was fleeting and fragmented.
He needed to snap out of it!
Now!

Seeing Darien try to fight to regain his mind Casey got up.

"Let go" she said in wolf language so only the wolf part of Darien could understand her .

"Diana isn't in any danger, no one will harm her or you if you back down. It is alright let go"

Darien heard and understood.
He growled. "My pack...I protect my pack."
His wolf instinct was to protect, words weren't important to him. He growled more deeply, baring his teeth as he glared up at Viper.
"My pack..."

((He's speaking wolf here.^))

Casey knew convincing the wolf form of Darien not to attack Viper would be futile, he saw Professor Viper as a threat to the well being of his family and the instinct to protect was strong one. There would be no talking him out of it. She douted Viper Would be so easily convinced either, but she could try, buy some time.

Turning to Viper she said.

"Professor he sees you as a threat, a danger to his pack, back down and he will regain control"

"Darien," Diana whispered softly. "Darien, she's not going to hurt us. It's just detention. I get into detention all the time..."


(lol. yeah I think I'm pretty useless here.)

Viper raised an eye brow. "Yes, sure, I'll back down...then have him feast on my vital organs..." Still, despite herself, Viper backed down, lowering her wand slowly, but using her other hand within her robes to unclasp a sleeping potion.

The minute she lowered her wand, she pulled out the sleeping potion and doused it all over the Slytherin.

Darien leapt backwards, snarling.
Sleeping potion...Oh gods... the human part of him muttered, before collapsing into sleep.
The wolf howled, eyes glinting brightly as the human part of him was fully covered for the first time.
The wolf leant forwards, poised to spring, growling fiercely. The black eyes flickered from side to side, before the animal leapt, soaring through the air effortlessly. His claws made a clinking noise as he landed on a desk, kicking a cauldron towards Viper.
Darien?
There was no reply to Ana's thoughts.
No...

Ana began to run.

"Darien?" Diana echoed Ana's words. She didn't exactly know what had happened but she sensed something was off.

Darien's human part began to jerk awake, adrenelin racing through his system.
Ana? Merlin- What the...
He noticed he was preparing to spring, and Viper had lowered her wand, doubtless expecting him to collapse and fall asleep.
He already had... his brain raced into overdrive.
Fight, fight...
He couldn't stop himself...
He prepared to leap.

((And cue awful cheesy bit.))

((Ready!))

"Darien!" Diana got up hesitantly from where she was to appoarch Darien. She was afraid and she didn't really know what to do but she was more afraid of what would happen to him if any of this got any further. She could bare to lose him... "Darien please."

Darien's head flicked in her direction, then back to the threat.
He growled, while his human mind fought more strongly.
Must stop...
But the wolf would not.
With one more howl, he leapt into the air, heading for Viper, claws and teeth at the ready.

"No"

Casey leaped forward intending to intercept Darien.

But Diana was already a step a head of the Hufflepuff. She put herself inbetween Professor Viper and Darien. And by doing so, become Darien's target.

Darien's human brain registered Diana, even more quickly than his wolf self did.
No!
His mind fought back with a pure bolt, sending adrenelin through his system.
He twisted in mid-air, changing the trajectory of his leap.
He landed on his hands and knees, in a crouch on the cold potion lab floor.
He gingerly opened his eyes, noticed Diana was still alive and well and nearly cried with joy.
"Diana..."
He leapt to his feet and pulled her into a hug.
"I'd never hurt you...Never."
"I love you." He muttered into her hair.

((SO CHEESY LOL!*hysterical laughter*))

Diana braced herself for the impact. She didn't, rather couldn't close her eyes. She was afraid but she wasn't if that made any sense. She held a breath as she saw Darien transform back to his normal self and hugged her.

It was all too fast that Diana barely registered it. What brought her to reality was what Darien had said. "Oh Darien." Diana hugged him back. "I love you, too."

((omg, I couldn't write that with a straight face))

((Love is in the air))

Casey sighed relief when Darien snapped out of it and smiled when she saw the love birds.

"Diana you saved the day"

Darien smiled, but was pulled back to reality by a sudden jolt of fear.
Viper was going to kill him...
He slowly glanced at the potions mistress, awkward and filled with dread.

Diana felt Darien's fear and squeezed his hand. "We're in this together." She whispered so only he could hear.
