Lessons and Assignments

Horatio ignored the situation but rose from his chair in case it got out of hand. He was a firm believer in allowing arguments to proceed as long as they did not bother anyone save the two involved with the verbal assault. And as for a tickling charm...well, he had done worse in his youth.

"Miss and Mr. Avalon, your turn and then we will dismiss the class."

Nicolas laughed out loud but managed to cast the counter charm at the same time. "Sorry Professor, it's just that bear! It's so funny!" Nicolas lied.

Nicolas figured Darien might have had the shielding charm on himself, however, the shielding charm did little to protect him from Alec, the Salamander. Nicolas took him out of his pocket and unknownst to Darien, crawl to the direction Darien's robes. When the fabric made contact with the Salamander, it caught fire. Happily, Alec when back to his Master.

Darien glaced down and hissed in annoyance.
A salamander...
He kicked out at the creature, sending it flying across the room.
He extinguished the flames and watched the path of the salamander across the room with his eyes.

((Hey, Darien has serious Animal Rights violations!))

"Alec!" Nicolas said casting a leviation charm at the Salamander right before he hit the ground. He summond it back to him. And put Alec safely back his pocket. Darien Vaight will pay for that later.

((lol...indeed he has. Bad Darien! *slaps him on wrist* ))

Darien sniggered and turned back to the front, wondering why the professor hadn't done anything.
He must have noticed the spell war... and even if he didn't, a salamander flying across the classroom was a smidge easier to see...

Horatio sighed as he watched the salamander take flight. He wandlessly cast a charm to catch the creature, but it proved unnecessary as its owner levitated it back.
"Mr.Vaight, try to be more congenial toward Mr. Casillas' pet salamander." he stated, lowly so that only the student was addressing could hear him.

Darien's eyes narrowed. "Yes sir." His tone was expressionless.
"Merlin...it's only a bloody salamander..." he muttered to himself, already beginning to plot revenge on Nick.
Where was Ana's cunning scheme-making when he needed it?

Nicolas' intial anger was replaced with hidden excitment. His revenge on Darien Vaight will happen... soon.

(Insert evil laugh here)

Darien rolled his eyes at Nick.
"Give it up Gryffie...We both know only Slytherins can really own the evil look."

Horatio was in high spirits as he began his class for the day. They were going to have a "pop quiz" and he could not wait to pass out the lollies and have them guess the flavour. Of course this had nothing to do with the class, but he did not mind. After the candies were passed out he would begin his lesson... but for now, sweets were better than history.

Max walked into his next class. where he saw Professor Horatio standing there. "Hello, professor." Max said. walking over.

Horatio nodded to the first year, smiling. "Hello." Noticing the class was assembling, he began to pass out the lollies.

"Before we begin... let us have a 'pop quiz'." The board behind him lit up with charmed and dancing mice. "Okay, anyone want to take a shot at what flavour your lolly is?"

Since the candy was charmed to be the child's favourite... it was more of a game than anything else. Sticking one the hard candies into his own mouth, he looked for a volunteer.

Max raised his hand excitedly. "Ooh! I do!" whenever candy was involved, Max would always jump for one.

Horatio chuckled, glad to see his class was happy with the "quiz".
"All right, Mr. Pearson." he called. "What flavour is yours?"

Max put the lolly in his mouth. It tasted really good. tasted almost like... "Chocolate and peanut butter." he responded.

Horatio's smile grew larger. "Wonderful! Sounds like you have great taste. Mine own...is." he twirled it around in his mouth. "Hot chocolate and marshmallows." Deciding his flavour was a good idea, he summoned a house elf.

"It's a cold day... would you bring us all some piping hot chocolate?" he asked the bouncy house elf. Due to the holiday spirit, his own idea, the elves had Santa's helper's hats on.

The house elf nodded happily and disappeared with a pop.

"Now as we await our drinks, who can tell me who was the Head of Hogwarts before Albus Dumbledore?"

Max raised his hand, slowly. he wasn't completely sure if he would give the right answer.

"Yes, Mr. Pearson?" he called, glad the young man might have the answer.

"Was it Armando Dippet?" Max asked.

Horatio nodded. "Very good. Five points to Gryffindor!" he cheered. At that moment the house elf returned with a large tray loaded heavily with hot chocolate. Thanking it, Horatio passed them out to each student with a flick of his wand.

"Now, we'll begin at the founding of Hogwarts and tiptoe our way to the present. For starters does anyone know about what year this school was founded? Extra credit if you can also name one of the founders."

Max looked around. nobody seemed to be raising their hand. he sighed. he hated being the only person answering right now. Max slowly raised his hand anyway.

"Yes, Mr. Pearson." Horatio stated, waiting for the answer.

Delilah and Becca came in the classroom quiet late without relising it. When they arrived they saw the classroom and the teacher teaching them.

"We missed some of the class!!!!???" Delilah whispered loudly to Becca.
"I thought we were early!" Becca explained quietly looking at her muggle watch, "I must have set the time wrong."

They smiled at professor, "were sorry professor for disrupting your class," Becca apoligized and sat down at a desk with Delilah taking out their quill and parchment ready to learn.

"Godric Gryffindor was one of the founders, and I believe it was founded around 1000 ad, but I'm not sure." Max responded. he hoped he was close to the right year.

Horatio nodded to the two late students, passing them each a lolly and a cup of hot chocolate. "No trouble at all, Miss Diggory." he smiled.

"And yes, very good Mr. Pearson, five points to Gryffindor. Although 900 is a closer year... we shall not worry about silly things like one number." he chuckled. "The other three founders were, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclass and... who knows the final?" he asked, glancing especially at the Slytherins side of the class.
