The Edges of the Lake (Northside)

Diana raised an eye brow. "What have you been watching?"

"Nothing!" He sighed. "Alright, maybe a little bit of Shaun of the Dead...But only once I swear!"

Diana couldn't help but giggle. But then stop shortly as she remembered Nick's Dad was injuried.

Darien noticed Diana's giggle cut short.

"...I'm sure he'll pull through." He attempted to console her.

"I hope so." Diana said seriously. "I don't think Nick could..." She stopped herself.

"He'll make it, he has to." Diana said determined.

Darien awkwardly pulled her into a one-armed hug.

"From what I know of him, he won't go down without a fight." He attempted a smile. "I'm sure he'll pull through."

"Thanks Darien." Diana said letting herself to be hugged. "Thanks for... just thanks."

Darien kissed the top of her head. "S'Fine."

Diana kissed him on the cheek. Then gave him another kiss on the lips.

Darien kissed her back gently.

"So I'm guessing I should stay out of Nick's way for a while?"

"Yes, please." Diana begged. "I don't want either of you getting hurt."

Darien pouted. "Are you suggesting he could defeat me?"

"I'm not saying anything." Diana said holding his hand. "I'm just saying that I would be very upset if either of you get hurt."

Darien sighed. "Alright, I'll steer clear of Nick."

"And if he does start a fight with you." Diana said. "Can you please, at least, try to deflect him?"

Darien sighed. "I can try. Can't promise I'll succeed though."

"Try real hard then." Diana said finally. "I don't think a fight between a Vaight and a Casillas would be particularly productive."

Darien nodded. "I guess."

"Don't you want to stop this stupid non-sense?" Diana asked. "People are getting hurt uselessly."

Darien shrugged. "There's nothing I can do."

Diana inhaled. "Yeah, right."

"Do you want to head back to the Castle now? It's a little chilly."

Darien nodded. "Sure."

He started walked back up the slope, pausing to glance back at Diana.

Diana stood up and started retreating back to the castle as well.

Diana headed to the Lake softly humming to herself. She hadn't been there in awhile and she did love the water. It was summer soon, and the normally icy weather was growing warmer each day.

Darien's bored expression flickered into a glimmer of recognition at the sight of a familiar figure meandering near the lake.

With perhaps a couple of stumbling footsteps, he slid down the rock hill (not that it was really large enough to merit such a title) and recovered his dignity, or attempted to, by a gentle jog along smooth, well-worn paths free from sprinklings of broken ankles.

"Hello there!" A grin broke across his face, rather like the slight waves swiping at the sandy edges of the lake, and he sped across to Diana's side like a devoted puppy. Not too far from the truth, he supposed.
