(LOL Darien)

Diana sighed she couldn't take this anymore, "Come on, let's go..."

Helena let Diana pull her away but not before she casting a tripping hex on Celina just for sport.

((lol...It was a pivotal moment in his life...when he discovered he had issues. And it's fun mocking him.))

Celina walked further along the row and tripped. "Aah! Sacre-"

Without thinking, Darien lunged forwards and caught her, just before her head hit the floor, at the end of the aisle. ((So Diana can see lol))

"-Bleu..." Celina finished, beaming at Darien.

Feeling awkward, Darien hastily helped her to her feet and stood up himself, brushing his uniform down. He didn't look in the direction of the retreating Gryffindors, and part of him wished he hadn't caught Celina...

There was a rather sharp intake of breath on Diana's part as she saw the whole thing. It was a good thing Darien didn't look at her direction has try as she could, she couldn't keep the hurt away from her face, nor the tears pricking in her eyes. Wordlessly she turned on her heel and walked away.

Helena cursed inwardly as her plan did a major backfire. She threw a confudo at Darien as she turned to follow Diana out.

Darien felt completely confused and fell over.

"Dari?"

Darien shook his head to clear it. "I'm okay..." He stood up.

Kiara browsed through the books on the shelevs hoping to get enspired for a new topic for her Advanced Spells class.

She also she was was making sure she had the spell right for she was casting on
Horatio's present.

"Ah, thats interesting" she mumbed she nose in the dusty old book.

Abraxas Magnus strolled through the shelves of many dusty tomes. He was pretty sure a few of the texts were in need of replacing with "modern" advances, but said advances would never see the light of day so long as the discoveries were made by the members of his research group. Silence was the unspoken key to an equally unspoken lock, if you will.

He always loved the smell of books. It didn't matter if they were old or new...

Today's topic of interest was: Potions, and his own subject of arithmancy, though his reasons for combining the two were purely his own. The elderly wizard had three rather large books in his arms as he rounded the corner...

... and accidentally - not to mention literally - 'ran into' a fellow bibliophile. Or, at least that's what he assumed. "Oh dear... terribly sorry, my young friend..." Abraxas offered to the person he'd bumped into. A muttered spell caused any and all books that had landed on their feet to be gently lifted and pushed to the side.

There was nothing worse than having a large, heavy book landing on one's foot...

To say she was momentarily surprised to bump into another body.

"Oh dear... terribly sorry, my young friend..."

"Oh! No harm done, no worries, I had my nose in book. Wasn't looking watching what I was doing" she said she with a smiles and sommoning her spell book back into her arms.

She then recognised the man infront of her, it was the new Arithmancy Professor.

"Ah Professor Magnus, I don't believe we have offically meet yet. I am Kiara the Headmistress here at Hogwarts" she said holding her hand out to shake.

"I confess so too were my eyes preoccupied. Why, I've not seen this castle in a good... well, for a terribly long count of years," Abraxas replied and, with a wave of his hand, spelled the books to levitate beside him.

A pair of graying, nearly white eyebrows rose when he realized he'd just bumped into none other than the Headmistress of the school.

"Kiara... no, I don't believe we've had the chance to meet yet, either," the old man replied, elderly eyes attempting to memorize her face. "And a pleasure it is to make your acquaintance now! I sincerely appreciate the chance to teach here at my old alma mater!" Abraxas added. Noticing a hand had been offered in greeting, the wizard offered a gentle handshake or two before slowly bowing and placing a very light kiss upon the top of her hand. It was a common gesture throughout a majority of his one-hundred and ten years...

Kiara smiled "It a Pleasure to meet you as well Professor" she said with a chuckle. The older professors always had a charm, or manerisim she liked.

"I am glad you are enjoying your self back at Hogwarts." she said with a nod.

"So were you looking at anything in particular, here in this section of the library?" Kiara asked curious, wondering what the older wizard would be intrested in other then the class he was teaching.

"Anything I could help with?" she offered.

"Oh, I have a plethora of different hobbies, milady. Some wise, and others rather foolish," Abraxas replied with a chuckle. "It just so happens that the restricted section was my favorite part of this library as a youth. Of course, why wouldn't it be? It was restricted, and therefore was I believe what is termed these days as a 'hot spot' - am I correct? Or are the youngsters these days using some other jargon?" A congenial laugh left him.

"At the moment I have... several little projects in mind. Research, as it were. Medical... alchemical... and simply potioneering. Numerical enigmas of the magical world is another topic... Muggles certainly do have rather dizzy ideals about numbers, I find," Abraxas vaguely revealed, though nothing too much. A small part on each of those topics pertained to research he was doing back with his group. But, if need be, he could find something not-so-secret, such as an entirely different conundrum... It wasn't that he didn't like or trust the Headmistress - that wasn't it at all! Rather it was the voluntary yet unspoken code of silence, ironic as that circumstance probably sounded to those not involved, that prevented him from saying too much.

"I do hope it would not be impolite of me... to ask of you the same questions?"

Kiara laughed in amusement, "There is always a sense of enthrallment going somewhere one knows on is not supposed to be, any place that has Restricted, Forbidden, or Secret in the name you can be sure someone has explored every knock and cranny of it " she paused to laugh. "This was a favorite spot of mine as well, though now a days it is the forbidden forest that students seem to gravitate to. I still say if it was called the boring forest, no one would go in it" she said.

Kiara nodded with a smile, the was a certain something about the newest professor that seemed familiar. Like the same feeling of the day she met Horatio.

"Oh Not at all Professor, I was actually looking up a spell I plan to use to in a Christmas present for a close friend of mine" she said flipping the book she had been reading before their meeting.

Advanced Protection Enchantments~ Expert Level By Rigel Morally

The book contained many powerful spells for protecting items, the reason for it being in the restricted section.. most spells required a great deal of magical energy. Only 7th years with written permission for her could even open this book.

"Most of my presents are custom enchantments hobby of mine, it is good practice though hmm?" she said cheerfully.

She looked at the older Professor trying to get a feel for what she could whip up for him. Something she guessed was quite a challenge, as the older man obviously had quite a bit of magic knowledge himself.

"Ah yes... not quite as guarded, and perhaps even more dangerous than the knowledge found here," Abraxas nodded his understanding with a slight chuckle. He couldn't help but laugh at the Headmistress's suggestion. "Not even that would have kept me away as a youth: I'd be curious as to what made it boring... Intriguing how intense a curiosity can be, hm?"

"A creative soul is always a delight to encounter," the old wizard remarked and noted the book Kiara was flipping through. However, he didn't say much else so as not to interrupt. Instead, he placed his own tomes on a nearby table and took a seat in the accompanying chair. While Kiara was busy the aged wizard also took up interest in one of his tomes, which was written entirely in Greek.

At her question, he nodded and smiled pleasantly. "Not only that, but such a gift often implies that it comes straight from the heart - for it is the thought behind it that counts," Abraxas replied just as cheerfully. "I haven't the need or urge to go Christmas shopping in a long, long time... perhaps that will change this year."

After a moment of flipping through the book, Abraxas sighed and closed the book. "Well, this one's a lost cause: all the workings of interest call for some part of the Wylavoct... probably one of the most elusive damn creatures apart from the ones gifted with invisibility. Wylavoct salts... Melasonite... and Pyrithesium. And not a singe one with a more commonplace substitute!" he commented, though didn't exactly specify in any way whether he was just talking to himself - and rather audibly at that - or if he were addressing Kiara.


((Okay... hope the creature doesn't sound too dorky, lol. Wylavoct is to be pronounced wih-LAHV-ahkt, just so you know.))

Kiara smiled and agreed with the older professor, "That it is Professor, I got in to a number situation because curiousity" she said as if remembering a few.

"I haven't the need or urge to go Christmas shopping in a long, long time... perhaps that will change this year."

Kiara smiled, she hadn't needed to go present shopping in ages, well sinse she had been married. "Ah yes, this is the first time in a few years since have needed to good present hunting as well." she said.

Kiara listened to Abraxas as he explained his missing ingrediant problem. Then a light bulb seemed to turn on above her head. "there is an Idea" she thought.

"I am sorry you are having trouble, professor.. If there is anyway I can help let me know" she said with smile.

Abraxas chuckled at Kiara's agreement. In his mode of thinking, there were probably quite a few adults that had gotten into 'situations' as Kiara put it in their youth due to curiosity. He certainly counted himself as one of them!

Salt-and-pepper eyebrows rose to hear that Kiara was in the same situation. "I see. Am I correct in assuming the previous owner of the ring on your finger has something to do with this need?" he said, asking his question in as wry and hopefully un-prying a way as possible. Abraxas's only intention was to bring the fact that he noticed her ring into attention.

At her offer, the wizened wizard couldn't help but return the smile. "It is no urgent matter... and that is most generous of you, milady," he sighed. "However, I doubt the world has seen a wylavoct in quite a few years. I will likely just have to make do with a different method, I suppose." Abraxas levitated the tome back to the shelf from where he'd gotten it.

"An exciting but time-consuming dilemma... inventing a new path to a common goal. But who am I to be complaining about time, right?" A small chuckle left the old man's lips at the slight overtone of age humor. After all, for all anyone but the other centurians knew, Abraxas had only just begun on this endeavor.

Kiara's smile widened slightly as she glanced at her ring, "Yes, just engaged earlier this month' she said with a smile.

Kiara nodded as he explained about the wylavoct problem, "Ah I see... but my offer still stands should you change your mind" she said with a nod.

Her eyes perked in curiousity, "A different method? what are you trying to do may I ask?" she asked.

She nodded with a laugh, "A new path..... yes those type of projects always take a long time hmm? There are a few friends of mine you who could assit with a project like that. Professor McKevin, from what I know he has done quiet a bit of research, and Professor Delanquar is no sloach either" she said.

Abraxas, too, widened his smile. "Magnificent! Congratulations, milady," he exclaimed, offering a moderate bow from his seat.

"And again I thank you for your generosity. But I would not trouble you in attempting to find a magical creature that might well be extinct by now... despite how many volcanoes and lava tubes there are. I always acquired my wylavoct ingredients directly from an apothecary, though I have read a great deal about how to come by the ingredients oneself."

A kind of chuckled hum left Abraxas at her curiosity and questions. "As I said, I have various little projects in mind along the area of research. Most of them, however, are medical in nature," he explained vaguely.

The elderly wizard nodded with a slight smile at Kiara's observation on how long research took when one was finding a new path around a common problem. Though he had not heard of this Professor DeLanquar - to his sieve-like knowledge, anyway - Abraxas was all too familiar with the other so named. "Ah... so you know old Horatio, do you? He and I go back quite a ways... Good man," Abraxas asked cheerily. "And I shall have to pay a visit to this Professor DeLanquar at some point..." he nodded his thanks and enthusiasm for the two recommendations. Horatio was always an interesting fellow to research with.

Kiara smiled "Thank you very much Professor" she said happily.

At the mention of the Volcanos and lava Kiara's eyes flashed and the blue but heatless fire licked her skin.

"If you insist Professor" she said with a smirk.

At the vague explaintion Kiara rised her eye brow "I see.."

"Yes I know Horatio, he and Professor Delanquar are.... quite close if you know what I mean.. I am Professor Delanquars heir, she is my mother in a legal sense and Horatio well is a father type you could say"

Then it clicked when he mentioned he knew Horatio from "way back". "You are from the research group arn't you?" she asked.

"You are most welcome, my dear lady," Abraxas replied, though blinked in surprise at the brilliant blue flames that sprung about her. 'What a lovely Fire Trick, too!' he mused, though had a feeling that "Kiara's Fire Trick" was likely due to being bonded to a fire creature of some sort. The most obvious was a phoenix, but... well, being an old man, Abraxas learned not to assume too much at one time lest you get much too far ahead of yourself. Just like he had with Akemi... and a few of his other pre-marital lovers before he'd wed his first wife.

He wasn't quite sure what to make of Kiara's smirk, but smiled a small smile in return.

"Ah, that must be Eglantine! Yes... Horatio has mentioned something to that effect. And yes, I know perfectly well any and all implications that phrase can carry," Abraxas replied with a chuckle. "This old man has been married a grand total of three times, believe it or not!" While he didn't exactly say so, there was a look in the man's eyes that seemed to declare that he was overjoyed to hear Kiara's views on Horatio. The other centurian was single with no children of his own... and now look: here he was with a daughter-figure! And, what's more, there was no need to go through the 'Terrible Twos and Fours' as she was already a grown young lady.

((lol... oh, the irony of that thought, eh? XD))

Surprise once again overtook the elderly wizard's countenance at her apparent knowledge of the research group, but wasn't too worried. Horatio was a co-founder of said group, and knew the rules enough to obey them. "It would seem the cards reveal themselves: yes, that is correct. I have researched extensively with Horatio, and belong to the same group of like-minded wizards as he," Abraxas answered. "That is not a problem, is it?" he asked, partly out of courtesy and another part sheer curiosity at how much - or little - she knew about the group.

Kiara smiled, "I see, this will be my second time beleive it or not.." she mentioned. "I couldn't be happier"

She smiled at his surprised look "Result of long term bonding with Blue Pheonix, you should me her some time" she said.

She then smiled as she finally found the spell her was looking for, with a wave of her wand and copied the rune in the book.

"Ah perfect..." she said as the rune glowed a bright gold before fading again.

She blinked at him as she rose and levitated the book where she got it from.

"Heavens no why would I have a problem with it, I think it is facinating what you and Horatio do. I am envious, but I wish you luck with whatever secret project you are doing. Do pardon my curiousity, I tend to ask a lot of questions and am quite persisant at it without thinking" she said with a laugh.

"A blue phoenix? My my, those are quite rare and exquisitely beautiful birds! Yes, I would love to meet her. What is your lovely bird's name, my dear?" asked Abraxas cheerily. So... he'd been part right. But then again - blue flames, blue phoenix. He should have gone with his instincts.

Abraxas took note of the rune, but kept his expression neutral. He did find it curious that she was going to give someone a gift with a protection enchantment on it, but thought it best not to inquire too deeply. It wasn't too out of place, he supposed. Perhaps if he'd given Miranda Croft, his first wife, a trinket with a protection charm on it then perhaps she wouldn't have died in the accident...

The old wizard shook his head. "Just a courtesy of mine to ask. And thank you - I too wish you luck with the gift you intend to make," Abraxas replied with another small bow. When she laughed, he did as well. "Not to worry, my dear: curiosity is the driving factor behind a lot of research, I find. And it never hurts to ask! My apologies for being so secretive."

Kiara smiled, " Her name is Saturn, and you would do good to remember it, only I can call her a flameing chicken" she said with a laugh.

Kiara sighed but kept a smile on her face, "Not to worry, I guess you could say I am used to secrets now. So no need to apologise Professor"

She looked down, and the looked up at him again "We all have secret and reasons for keeping them" she said with a mysterious but understanding tone in her voice.

"A flaming chicken?" Abraxas questioned with a laugh. "My word... I would not think to call such a noble creature by a lesser and vastly distant cousin." Amusement rang clear in his voice.

However, a flicker of uncertainty crossed his face at her next statement. Had he said something? Was his mannerism inconsiderate? The wizard decided to store this little tidbit of input for to mention to Horatio at some point. Perhaps Abraxas needed to be re-educated in the ways of social niceties, what after being mostly to himself and his research - not to mention a select few research friends - for the past fifty years or so...

The wizard smiled wanly at her mysterious yet understanding statement. "Yes, indeed. Circumstantial, tangible fear or shame, and even simple regulations are just a few, in fact. It is the last on that list that prevents me from disclosing much about the particular projects I'm working on in my off-duty hours. A rule of the research group Horatio and I belong to is to not share our research with the outside world.

"Otherwise, I assure you: I'd be babbling my lips off until you didn't care to hear any more of the subject!" Abraxas explained, his last sentence regaining a sense of his former amusement.

Kiara chuckled at his statment, "You don't have a wise old pheonix talking and lecturing you in your mind 24 hours a day.... or seen running form a kitten... to me she can be a flameing chicken sometimes" she said with smile.

Seeing the look on his face she explained, "I have had more the my fair share of expirence with secrets being kept from me... not to worry, this is nothing" she explined.

She nodded "Yes Horatio explained that to me, not to worry I understand." she said.

She laughed at his next statement, "Ah sounds like another professor here, teaches herbalogy but loves to chat just about any thing.. The thing is making him be quiet... " she said with wink.

"Ah, I see your point," Abraxas replied with a soft chuckle. "I've not yet had the fortune to have a familiar bound to me as of yet. Well, at least not recently. I used to be bound to a runespoor, but sadly they don't tend to live very long what with their three heads working against one another." The wizard sighed.

Abraxas looked pensive, and a bit skeptical, but nodded. In a way he felt terrible about keeping his secrets, as they were not dark and horrible things... but yet it was the rule of his group and one he had a tendency to stick to at least in his own dealings with people on the outside. Not that he exactly made frequent excursions...

"Is that so?" the wizard asked with a hint of amusement in his voice. "Well, that is good, I suppose. I've heard of a theory that plants grow better when you talk to them... perhaps that's one of his secrets to having a green thumb..." he said with a wink of his own. At the back of his mind, though, he decided to get the name of this professor and make note that he should not be sponsored to join the Altus Gnarus until he learns to quiet his apparently-waggling tongue... the thought made a small smile of amusement return to his lips.

"So when is the happy day for you and your betrothed?" Abraxas asked curiously.

Kiara frowned as she stood infornt of the old professor. "I am sorry to hear that" she said.

She sighed at the still less then happy look on the mans face. "It is fine really, it isn't like you are lying about it. You out right said you can't say, really I am fine with it" she said with a smile.

She then laughed at his statement about Ethan, "Perhapes that is why he is so good with plants.. Professor Addams has a real nack for plants." she said.

At his question she blushed and looked away, "Well I don't know yet exactly, I haven't met his parents yet even... I will meet them for the first time at christmas" she said as she bit her lip.
