COMC Class 1: Salamanders

Kiara walked out on the grounds to start the first COMC class. She loved magical creatures, she had a knack with them. And she believed the students at Hogwarts should have a great respect for them.

"Welcome to Care of magical creatures class everyone. Today we will be looking a rather interesting Creature, a Salamander, Not the muggle one, we will be looking at the magical breed."

Waving her wand several suits appeared in front of the students.

"I advise you to put them on, Salamanders like it hot, these suits will protect you from the heat"

Kiara led the students in to a cave, the deeper they went the hotter it got, although if you were wearing a Protective suit you wouldn't notice.

At the end of the cave there were fires all around the ground with small brightly glowing lizards in the middle of them.

"This cave is charmed to be the perfect habitat for Salamanders, Hot, dry and plenty of fire."

Casting a fire proofing charm over her clothing Kiara bent down and picked up on of the small lizards out of a fire, with her bare hands on less and fed the lizard black pellets.

"For those of you wondering I have a magical resistance to fire so I can't be burned, You guys however can be severely burned if you try what I am doing right now. However if you are wearing dragon hide gloves you can pick them up. In the pockets of you suits is a hand full of back pepper feed it to them if you pick them up"

Place the Salamander back into its fire Kiara continued.

"But place them back into the fire after you are done looking, Salamanders can survive outside out of the flames that birthed them for up to six hours if fed on pepper, but no longer. They are born out of the flames of fire, and appear to be blue or red depending on the heat of the flames. They live as long as the flames that spawned them."

Salamander blood has powerful regenerative and curative properties, their blood can be extracted painlessly without killing them. So they are not mistreated for those of who may be concerned. Alright this ends today's lesson, you will find the homework assignment outside the cave.

Looking around the cave of fires Casey placed her hand on her head, her family name wasn't just for show. There was a reason behind it, she could understand and hear many different types of languages. Including beast speak, and the conversations going on the cave between the Salamanders were giving her a headache.

Picking one of the Salamanders up and feeding it some pepper she hissed to it.

"Could you please tell your friends to be quiet?"

There was a flood of murmurs of what sound like "she is a beast speaker. silence"

Then there was quiet...

"Thank you"

Nicolas glanced around the cave. "Alec," he said talking to his salamander in his robe pocket, "look! There are loads of you around!"

He sccoped up Alec from his pocket and put him down. Immediately one of the other salamanders went and investigated Alec, who for his part stared back.

Nicolas chuckled. He put his palm right where Alec was and Alec immediately went to it. "Aw, don't be anti-social Alec, I'm sure they're nice."

"Look how about this nice red one." Nick said touching it. "Ow." It was really hot. "Alright maybe not so nice."
