A Day In the Life! - 9th of February 2023

Yes, it is thrilling. Fly on the wall and all that.

A nice little residence, with a young Fitzwilliam, an even younger (at least 2months old) Eliza and a year of peace...in comparison with what is to come.

Twas a dark and stormy night...

Calista sat upright in bed. That dream again...Of Armando, Will and Eliza disappearing into the distance, as though they were being dragged away. She sighed and rubbed a hand across her tired eyes. She rested her head back on the pillow and listened carefully. Usually when she woke up in the middle of the night, Eliza was-

Yes, the sound of a crying Eliza reached her ears.

Sighing again, she slipped out of bed and put on her slippers.

Meanwhile...
Eliza wailed. Where were those 'parents' of hers when she needed them?

She was hungry...and there was nothing to eat in this cage!

Gimme food! Gimme food! ...But not those mushed up orange things...No one in their right mind would eat that. Although, she wouldn't say no to one of those bowls full of milk and little blobs of 'cereal'. It looked cool...and it snapped, crackled and popped.

Gimme fooood! Gimme FOOOOOOD! She screamed, her wails echoing around the room.

Were all adults this deaf?!

"Is it your turn or my turn?" Armando asked his wife, his eyes still closed.

"I think it's mine." Calista leaned over to kiss Armando on the forehead.

Eliza's piercing wail echoed around.

Where was her 'Mummy' person?
Where was 'Daddy'?

She liked Daddy...He was funny.
And she liked Mummy...She was kind.

And she liked them both a whole lot more when they gave her FOOD!

His eyes still closed Armando pulled Calista into a real kiss when she bowed down to kiss him.

"Better go hurry, we don't want Fitz to wake up as well."

"No, we don't." Calista smiled, before heading to Eliza's cot.

"Shhh Eliza, shhh..." She picked Eliza up in her arms and held her close, rocking her gently.

"What's wrong? Did you have a scary dream?"

No! You silly person! I am hungry! HUNGRY!

"Are you not quite clean down below?" Calista frowned slightly, sniffing.

I think I know if I've pooped my pants!...Well nappy...Whatever! I'd know! And i know I haven't! And you know why? COS I'M HUNGRY!

"No? Well then...You must be hungry!"

EUREKA! And so food was discovered!

Five minutes later, Eliza yawned and sniffed, fitting her thumb into her mouth again.

"Is baby ready to sleep?"

Yep, that's why I yawned.

Calista lay Eliza down in her cot and kissed her forehead. "Night darling."

Night Mummy.

Calista slipped her slippers off and slipped back into bed. "She was hungry."

Armando shifted to make way for Calista, eager to have heat back in the bed. "That's good to know."

Calista sighed.

"Well...It could be worse. Do you think we should check on Fitz?...Sorry, just being a bit of a worrier..."

Armando breathed out. "Alright, I take it it's my turn then?"

"Well if you'd rather not...I just...Oh I don't know. Maybe it's all this purger talk...making me uneasy." She sighed.

"I'll check," Armando said getting up. "Just in case."

"Thanks..." Calista replied gratefully, smiling at her husband.

Armando left their room and headed to young Will's which was just across the hall. He clasped the door handle quietly and peered in. Fitzwilliam was tucked comfortably in his bed, his little security blanket wrapped tightly around him.

Armando sighed and gave Will a small kiss on the forehead before closing the room and heading back to Calista.

He crawled neatly back into the warm bed.

"He's fast asleep." Armando reported.

"Good." Calista sighed, relieved. "Now maybe we can finally get some sleep too."

"Yes sleeeeep... Sleep is goooood." Armando said hugging Calista close to him.

Calista laughed quietly. "Yes, sometimes it takes losing something to really realise how good it is. And think of all the sleep we've lost..." She yawned and snuggled close to Armando.
