Sevastyan Kaminski’s Personal Chambers (located on the Second Floor)

Sevastyan's lips had just made contact with her neck when he realized she had spoken in his native language, and rather well for apparently never having heard it save for a few times from his own mouth. Feeling she might think she said something wrong if he lingered for too long, which was entirely not the case, Sevastyan continued the trail of kisses up her neck. "You speak... very good Russian," he complimented in a whisper.

He was about to initiate the next step when he heard a loud crack somewhere from behind him. It was familiar but Sevastyan was too involved to really pay it any lasting heed...

"MISTRESS!" The high-pitched squeal of Nissy could have pierced not only his ears but his brain, too. Who needed mandrakes with an irate House-elf about to have a conniption fit right in the middle of one's quarters?

Of all the times they were interrupted tonight... at least the first two times had been intentional. Sevastyan mentally beseeched Merlin for a reason as to why now, when they needn't be interrupted any further, did the over-protective House-Elf do just that?!

Right after Viper whispered the foreign words, she felt quite nervous, fearful that she had said the wrong wording and quite possibly have uttered a different word. But as soon as his whispers reached her, she sighed, although whether from relief or from the sensations coursing through her, Viper couldn't say for sure. All she knew was that this was the now. Sevastyan and her together in their own little world, uninterrupted. Until...

CRACK

"MISTRESS!" the familiar high-pitched voice called out. Viper swore loudly as she reluctantly broke way from Sevastyan's embrace.

"Nissy, what is the matter with you?" she hissed.

"Mistress, what is you doing here . Especially with him?!?" the elf demanded, wildly gesturing around the room and to the room's owner as she approached Viper's side of the bed so she could "whisper". She gaped. "Where is you's clothes?!?!" she cried out in horror, her saucer-wide eyes burning holes at Viper and Sevastyan's lack of overrobes. "Not again..." she groaned in a very non-obedient un-house-elf-ish way.

Viper sighed, desperately trying to control her temper. "Nissy, I'm going to say this as nicely as I can. Get the hell out!" She threw a pleading look over to Sevastyan so he could try his hand at making the creature disappear.

Sevastyan barely flinched at Viper's exclamation, for he was spouting a rather colorful string of Russian vocabulary in accompaniment. It wasn't perhaps quite as vocal as Amaranth's but the fact remained that the words did not sound friendly at all. Gray eyes couldn't help but narrow as the elf demanded an explanation for why her mistress was with him.

Without even needing the look from Amaranth, but acknowledging it anyway, Sevastyan put his own two galleons into the response. "Vot your mistress chooses to do in her own free time should be no business of yours. Now, if you don't mind..." he said sourly, reaching to place his hand on Amaranth's hip, "Ve vould very much like to be left alone."


Nissy pursed her lips at the Russian, but said nothing. She looked like she did mind. With a look on her face to mirror his sour words, and a snap of her long fingers, she was gone in the usual puff of smoke left behind when an elf disapparated.


Sevastyan sighed pleasantly the moment it appeared that he and Viper were now alone in their little world. He leaned so that his lips were aligned with Amaranth's neck. "This unexpected interruption hasn't deflated the mood... has it?" he breathed softly, placing a gentle kiss upon the soft skin. It seemed as though, if it had, and if she would let him, Sevastyan was more than willing to rekindle the flames of passion.

((Different timeline... the morning Charles and Kiara meet))

Very Early in the morning....

A note entered Sevastyans Quarters and floated in mid air only paper was a short letter.

"Sevastyan it is urganty that you meet me in the fordidden forest I greatly need you assitiance. There is a map on the partchment for where I am...

and Sevastyan when you get there I want to say in advance I am sorry.

Your friend,
Kiara."

The wards Sevastyan placed on his chambers prodded him into awakeness: something had entered his quarters that he hadn't anticipated. It could have been anything from a letter to a person... Things were murky in his muddled mind as he took a sharp intake of breath and opened his eyes blearily. Gray eyes adjusted to the faint light of early morning filtering through the curtains as he glanced around, not yet moving from his position. The last thing he wanted to do was to disturb Viper from what he assumed was a peaceful sleep...

His paranoia increased when nothing happened... no obvious intruder or irate, protective house-elf. Deciding it was best to investigate, Sevastyan carefully extricated himself from the embrace and tried his best not to wake Amaranth as he nearly rolled out of bed and onto his feet. He shivered slightly as the chilly air met the bare skin of his back and arms, though didn't bother with an overrobe as his bare feet padded across the carpets of his bedchamber and living room.

A pair of knuckles attacked a gray-irised eye, demanding the sleep accumulated in the corners of his eyes to leave him. Sevastyan walked right by the floating note before doing a double-take. Squinting for to focus on the parchment, Sevastyan reached forward and snatched it from its hovering. Squeezing his eyes shut and opening them again a couple of times, Sevastyan attempted to read the note...

A sense of dread came over him when he read the words 'I am sorry'

The surge of panic at seeing his sister-figure's name signed at the bottom urged him back into the bedroom at full speed, the phoenix pendant practically dancing in its place around his neck.

It was a good thing he had left the door open or the loud bang from running into it would likely have scared the wits out of Amaranth. But he wasn't thinking about that. In haste he took up his overrobe and, after slipping it on, gently but in a distinct panic shook the Head of Slytherin's shoulder.

"Amaranth? Amaranth, are you avake? Please vake up..." he requested urgently, still grasping the letter in a clenched hand.

In midst of a peaceful sleep and lovely dream, Viper was vaguely aware of the fact that Sevastyan had left the bed, although she didn't think too much of it, instead rolling over slightly into his middle half of the bed, snuggling into the warmth until the sourse of the heat returned.

However, instead of the slow re-entry she had expected, an unwelcome, albeit gentle shaking on her shoulder forced her into a state of awakeness. With a soft sigh, she glared -or at least tried to- at the cause of her broken sleep. "Sevastyan its late-er-early." she whined in a raspy sleep-drenched voice as she noticed the lights flitering into the room.

Viper turned on her other side, facing the room with her back to Sevastyan in an effort to return to her blissful dream. "Just stick the damn elf in the toilet.. Merlin knows we've told her to leave us alone enough times already..."she muttered, curling under the covers, assuming the reason Sevastyan was waking her was because of another interruption by Nissy.

Had this been any other time he would have smirked at her attempt to glare at him. "I'm sorry, but-" he tried to explain but was cut off as she turned away.

"Just stick the damn elf in the toilet.. Merlin knows we've told her to leave us alone enough times already..."

"This isn't about Nissy..." Sevastyan replied with an increased panic and grasped her shoulder in another gentle hold. "Amaranth, it is urgent! Ve need to hurry!" He really hated to wake her now that it seemed that her insomnia had lessened and enabled her to sleep better these days, but if fate had a habit of twisting things the way he feared then their timing would need to be impeccable if they were to be of any help at all.

Viper semi-groaned at Sevastyan's persistance, feeling a glimmer of annoyance at her dream being pushed further and further away. Taking a deep breath she turned around to face Sevastyan once more and replied in a voice as calmly as she could. "Sevastyan, you know I love this room and everything that happens in this room. Especially, and at the moment, above all: sleep! Now, with that said, please! Just wait until the weekend. I promise we can do whatever, whenever, wherever, however, then. But for now, I'd really to get back to that dream."

With that, she tossed to covers over her head, willing herself to fall asleep once more.

Sevastyan heaved a sigh, though whether it was of annoyance, being rejected, or something else, was difficult to pinpoint as the noise would have been the same regardless. Didn't she realize that if he had wanted that that he would have gotten back into bed and kissed her awake? Probably not, the Russian decided, remembering that she was likely still half asleep.

"Amaranth," he persisted, getting agitated as he crawled onto the bed in pursuit. "This can't vait until the veekend! It's about Kiara - she needs our help!" Sevastyan attempted to reason with the witch, which was a feat given how frantic he was at the moment.

Hearing the panic in Sevastyan's voice, Viper grudgingly emerged from the covers, sleepily sitting up. "Fine." she sighed. "You know when I said I wished people would come to me for help, I was thinking around the lines of reasonable hours when I was awake." She stated as she looked around the room for her shoes and overrobes. It was one of the drawbacks of going back and forth between quarters: the pair tended to lose things quite easily.

Giving up the search, she summoned a new robe, slipping into it. "It really was a lovely dream..." Viper smiled as she smoothed down her mussed up raven locks.

"I am sorry," Sevastyan offered, mirroring the last few words of the letter as he climbed off the bed. He placed a hand on the small of her back in a kind of half embrace.

"But ven you see this... perhaps you'll see vy I vos so persistent," he added and handed over the letter with panicked eyes. Sevastyan then placed a quick kiss at her temple, both to show his love and his appreciation for her acquiescence despite the hour. He lingered for just a second before searching for his own overrobe. True, he was wearing a bath robe, and pajama bottoms... but it was December after all.

"I have no idea vot is going on, but I have a very bad feeling about this..." he stated grimly and slipped on his boots.

Viper leaned into the embrace as she grasped the letter, reading through it as best as she could in her barely-awake state. She adjusted the light in the room slightly with a whispered spell. The corners of her mouth twitched in appreciation of the affectionate gestures as green eyes followed each word, scanning the parchment.

"Damn..." she whispered and half-sighed as she finished the letter, slipping on her newly-acquired heels accompanied by a warming charm to protect them against the icy gale.

"Are you ready?" she asked Sevastyan as she pulled out the map, looking through it.

"Yes," Sevastyan practically whispered and swiftly returned to her side to scan the map. A nervous hand reached to briefly entwine his fingers with hers. "I just hope ve get there in time..."

With that said the Russian gently led Amaranth from his quarters, through the castle, and out onto the grounds... headed straight for the Forbidden Forest.

Kiara walked briskly to Sevastyan's quarters hoping Viper was there as well. She had she potion cloth over her mouth to let her breath as she all but ran most of the way to Sevastyan's Quarters.

As it was a emergency she by passed the passwords and knocked on the opened door as she called out..

"Sevastyan!! Viper you to in here? It is emergency!" she said with a note of panic in her voice.

Sevastyan, despite his normal habits of being up very early in the morning, was semi-awake and still in bed at six o'clock in the morning. He wouldn't say the relationship formed with Amaranth made him lazy... just a bit more mellow. The Russian greatly enjoyed waking up to find her there beside him, if not embracing her. This morning he found himself curled up behind Amaranth, her back to his chest and breathing softly against her ear. An arm of his was affectionately wrapped around her abdomen, elbow resting gently upon her hip.

"I suppose ve have to get up sometime, don't ve?" he asked Viper playfully, placing a kiss on her shoulder. Sevastyan's voice was somewhat thick with the sleep he hadn't yet been able to banish from his mind. It was a shame that his classes didn't take place down in the dungeons, too.


The sudden, panicked voice made Sevastyan jump and take a sharp breath of surprise. Calming down, Sevastyan managed a fairly collected, "Yes - ve're here. Ve'll be right out..."

Concern lined his face as he surveyed Amaranth's reaction to this wake up call of sorts. "So much for sleeping in just a little bit," he murmured quietly to her, adding a downward glance and a flirtatious smirk to his sentiment before leaning forward to place a quick kiss upon her lips. One could practically feel the reluctance as he left her side to at least put on a bath robe.

Another thing he really wanted to know was: How did Kiara find out he and Amaranth were sharing quarters now? However, that question was best kept for a different situation. If it were to be asked at all...

Viper sighed softly in her sleep-addled state, smiling at the affectionate gesture. "No, we don't..." she whispered in protest, turning around so she could curl into his chest.

She groaned audibly at the panicked voice coming closer and closer, willing it to go away only to be denied as she felt her love rise.

"Yes - ve're here"

"No we're not!" she protested, shaking her head at Sevastyan.

"Ve'll be right out..."

"No we won't!" she hissed half-heartedly, knowing that it was over and she had to get up.

She sighed, nodding at his murmur as she reluctantly rose and slipped on her robe. "You know, when I said I wished people would come to me more, I honestly meant during daytime hours!" She groaned, leaning her forhead against his chest.

"She better not have died again..." Viper muttered softly as she moved to open the bedroom door.

When Kiara saw the couple come out she rushed over to them. she was as white as a ghost as she unfolded the in her hand as she faced the two.

"Sorry for waking you both but this is urgent. Sevastyan remember when we talked in my office about the purgers and who may be targets? Well our fear are confirmed." she said as she handed the list over for both Sevastyan and Viper to see.

"This is the list sent to me this morning, I came straight here so you could warn your family Sevastyan, and the two of you as well. You are both on it" she said the seriousness in her voice could not be missed.

This was no joke.

Sevastyan in his still-not-fully-awake state was a bit slow on the uptake, still nodding his head as the list was handed to him. However, at the word 'fear', an arm snaked around Amaranth's hips and protectively held her close. Or, rather, as close as they could be standing precisely side-to-side.

"Who vould be sending post so early?" he yawned and blinked, forcing himself to concentrate on reading. Brows furrowed with concern as Kiara said something about warning his family. The fact of hearing that both he and Amaranth were on the list brought him right back to full awareness: startled entirely out of sleep.

The color drained from his face as he glanced to Kiara, to the list, and back again. A look that seemed to say 'You must be joking!' crossed his face, but was immediately erased upon examining the Headmistress's own countenance. Feeling as though he were about to preview his own gravemarker, Sevastyan lowered his gray orbs to the parchment.


((He's reading the parchment in his head and making notes...))

Kiara Riddle .......... 'No surprise there, given vot just happened recently and the fact that she shares the name vith Voldemort.' They'd already assessed this much, though Sevastyan felt his still had right to be worried.

Malachite Viper, Andromache Viper, Lucifer Viper, Maximus Viper, Anette Dolohov-Viper, Leviathon Viper, Xavier Viper.................. 'I know none of these people... but I know somevone they're related to...' Sevastyan glanced over to Viper briefly before returning his attention to the list.

Dracovan Viper ................. 'Already dead, from vot I've heard.'

Amaranth Viper ............... 'There she is...' A pain shot through him seeing her name there. Sevastyan leaned his head toward Viper's in a show of affection and support.

Cedwyn Rosier, Brisa Malfoy-Rosier, Eglantine Rosier-DeLanquar, Edmund Rosier, Vivian Black-Rosier, Erin Rosier, Severus Rosier, Corin Rosier .............. 'Only vone name sticks out here, and ve've already been over vy.'

The next bunch on the list were like slaps to the face to him:

Svetlana Maksimovna Kaminskaya .................. 'M-my family...' Sevastyan's mind-voice stuttered with shock. 'Sveta's never even touched the dark arts...... she's done so much good vith her life! She vouldn't even hurt a flobbervorm for its mucous if she did not have to!' A cold fury swept about his eyes, and the hand holding one corner of the parchment shook. Why couldn't this just be another one of his nightmares?! He was certainly breathing heavily like he usually was in his nightmares...


Ethan Addams ................. 'Now, there's a shock. Vot is he doing on this list? He might be annoying, but not enough to varrant death...'

Horatio McKevin .................... 'He is but an old man. An entertaining, certainly energetic and therefore powverful old man. Really, this is ridiculous...'

Juria Gandera ................ 'Great Merlin, even the school nurse?!?'


"The Damned... are ve?" Sevastyan gasped, releasing his hold on the parchment. Fear was clearly etched into his eyes. Though he'd been taught to not reveal his emotions in front of enemies, he felt he had the right to be worried in front of his love and his friend. "This is likely not even the full list!"



"I... I need to... please excuse me," Sevastyan choked out in his panic, his throat suddenly very tight. He gave Amaranth a very quick kiss on the cheek before leaving her side and strode over to the fireplace to make a very desperate, wizarding-version of a phone call...

Now all he needed to do was find the Floo powder. Magical flames sprung to life just as he grabbed a pinch of the powder. As he tossed it in, and the emerald flames rose, Sevastyan shouted: "Praskovya Kaminski - Kaminski Family Dacha!" and stuck his head into the grate for to speak with his mother.

He wasn't aware that his mother's sobs, followed up quickly by a greeting in Russian, could be heard by the other two women in the room with him.

From her position in Sevastyan's embrace, Viper looked at the list with a raised eyebrow, leaning against Sevastyan's chest as she read.



No suprises there, given her ancestry and recent events... Viper thought to herself. The witch laughed inwardly noticing her various family members on the list.



Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. Not much more to be done there. It was odd, Viper thought, to see names written in crimson, names that meant so much, yet at the same time nothing at all. True, they were Viper's kin, part of the dynasty, yet when it got right down to it, for the most part the names meant nothing to Viper. There were no memories with half of those on the list, just hollow names, erased, rooted legacies.



She had to laugh inwardly at this. What else could she expect? After all she had done it would be insane if she was suprised at such a repercussion.



Yes, she knew of those names, some being deceased as well. Once again, she was not suprised and remained expressionless. Feeling rather bored with the list, she skimmed further done, not realizing what clan she had skipped.


However, her attention soon refocused as she realized the names of others on the list. Names that did hold memories for her...




Ethan? For what, growing illegal plants? That's absurd! If ever he had gotten caught it would be a misdemeanor, a smear on his record, maybe a hefty fine. Not a death sentence! Viper mused, biting her lip in nervousness for her friend. More likely than not, her only friend here at Hogwarts.



Alright, that could be a bit more believable, considering the man was old enough to be alive at nearly every promenient Dark Lord's reign.



Maybe Viper's original suspicions were correct, maybe she did have a dark past...


Breaking from her reverie, Viper opened her mouth to speak when she heard Sevastyan's panicked voice and a quick kiss on her cheek. Wondering the reason for it, Viper returned her gaze to the list, seeing what exactly she had missed. Green eyes widened slightly as the answer unfolded for her.



Sevastyan's family... And immediate family, judging by the names...

Tearing her gaze from the paper, she glanced up just in time to see Sevastyan activating the Floo Network, consoling who Viper assumed was his grieving Mother. Wincing at the sound, Viper stood still for a moment, unsure of what to do. Viper wanted to go over to Sevastyan, try to help him in any way she could, but she wasn't quite sure if it would be entirely appropriate. After all, Viper had yet to meet any of the other Kaminskis and she didn't think a person would want some random person attempting to console them.

She stood in silence for a moment, paying attention to the conversation occuring in effort to comprehend what had happened to lead Sevastyan's mother into such a state.

Kiara bit her lip when she heard the sobs on the other end of the floo.

The reason she came to warn Sevastyan and Viper first was for Sevastyan to warn his family about mostly. Viper she was sure wouldn't be surprised by her name on the list concidering her entire family mosty followed Voldemort or practiced some form of Dark Arts.

Sevastyan's family however lived in Russia and if the conversation she had with Sevastyan in her office was any indication. They had no idea how strict or deadly these purgers were.

She had the dreadful feeling they had just found out the hard way.

"Please no" she whispered.

"Mother, vot is wrong?" Sevastyan asked, concern evident in his voice. "Miroslav? Matryona?"

"Dmitri мертво!" came the feminine shriek of Matryona Kaminskaya. Dmitri is dead!

"Vot?! How?!" Sevastyan demanded. "Please, кузен, cousin tell me. How did he die?"

Two female voices wailed at his final word. Sevastyan visibly flinched in his spot at the grate. The sound of footfalls could be heard shortly thereafter, followed by a booming masculine voice.

"Sevastyan, чего вы делаете здесь?!" Sevastyan, what are you doing here?!

"Father," Sevastyan offered, his voice tight and a few degrees colder.

"And vot is vith the English?! Can't you speak your Mother Tongue anymore?!" Maksim shouted at his son.

"I have company vith me, and I vould not dishonor them by speaking vords they as yet are not familiar vith," Sevastyan explained with barely-concealed irritation. "Now please tell me vot in Merlin's name is going on?!"

"AND YOU VOULD LET THEM EAVESDROP?!?!?!?!?!?" Maksim shouted, boots clicking on the floor as he apparently stepped closer to the flames.

"They are just as much involved so you can either back the hell off and explain to me vot is going on, or I vill not say another vord until you leave the ****ing room... Father." Intimidation infused with worry and fear etched Sevastyan's voice. "Now: how did this happen? I must know!"

Quiet but angry footsteps could be heard from someone retreating from the room. The next voice to be heard was a soft but pain-filled masculine voice. The voice of Miroslav Kaminski.

"By the looks of the marks and gore, it vos a manticore. However... there are no tracks - none of the appropriate kind - for such savagery. Only human footprints..."

Sevastyan squirmed uncomfortably in his place, but eventually could be heard saying, "Go on."

"Ve can only assume then, since there is not even a manticore corpse here, that it vos the grizzly vork of a vizard that clearly vanted him dead... perhaps an animagus that turns into a manticore, I don't know," Miroslav went on as prompted, but his voice shook.

"My son vos only tventy-eight, Sevastyan! TVENTY EIGHT YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!" Masculine sobs could be heard now, but Sevastyan's body was not shaking. It was Miroslav crying. "No vone saw anything. And if they did, they are not coming forvard!" the other man continued through his tears.

"Miroslav, listen to me..." Sevastyan's voice was firm but clearly afraid. "You must, for me, gather all of the Kaminskis here at the manor. It is unplottable... and heavily fortified.... hopefully they vill be safe. Blackmail my father if you have to, if he von't let them stay."

"Vot of you?"

"I must remain vhere I am. But I vill be there for our family event, if it is still on?"

"Yes... even vith my son's death...... he vould not vant us to grieve as ve are. Dmitri did not fear death - nor do the rest of his kin..."

"No... no, ve don't," Sevastyan agreed. 'At least, I don't fear my own death...' he mused. The deaths of those he cared about were another story.

"Vot is going on for you to make an appearance now?" Miroslav was calmer now, but not by much.

Sevastyan then proceeded to explain to his cousin the whole ordeal, or at least the parts of it that he knew, in rapid-fire Russian so that it would be easier to understand for Miroslav in his distraught state. After a moderate-length talk, Sevastyan pulled himself from the grate, ashen-faced and slightly covered in soot.

The Defense Professor stood there, awkward, not sure where to go or what to do. Gray orbs lowered to the floor. "They are varned... but ve vere just a little too late for vone of them..." Sevastyan reported in a hollow voice.

Kiara winced what the yell from the floo yelled something about eassdropping, and she rurned her head away.

But a the sound of sobs coming from the floo Kiara froze they were to late... why else would there be such a reaction?

When Sevastyan came back and told them in a hollow voice she had never heard him talk in before..

"but ve vere just a little too late for vone of them..."

Kiara looked down and tightened her fists, before looking at Sevastyan with saddness.

"I am so sorry Sevastyan...." she didn't know what else to say, Other then the fact she was turnly sorry that this had had happened.

The first thing that crossed Viper's mind upon hearing Sevastyan's father speak was that he would get on wonderfully well with her own father Lucifer Viper. Her musings were soon cut off by the sounds of more sobbing echoing through. Nervously, Viper bit her lip, awaiting for Sevastyan

Upon seeing the look on Sevastyan's face and hearing the hollow cadence of his voice, a voice she had yet to hear from him, Viper immediately closed the remaining distance between them. She kissed his cheek gently, brushing stray hairs away from his face before wrapping her arms around him as though she was trying to absorb all the grief and sadness from him, sending a nonverbal message that she is and always would be here for him.

Sevastyan nodded to Kiara's condolences, not quite sure what to say, himself. Dmitri had been the eldest of the other set of three siblings in the family line. It seemed to him like a sign that if Sevastyan wasn't careful, he'd be next. After all, he was the eldest of the first set of three siblings... Not that he was afraid of dying. Leaving those he loved behind was not an attractive option. Nor, quite frankly, was the thought of those he loved being picked off one by one. Were they in Russia, doing their deeds there now, or was this just a warning? The uncertainty was maddening, and exhausting.

Gray eyes fluttered open briefly at Amaranth's kiss, though closed again as she brushed away a loose strand of hair. He tried to stand there, strong as stone, the way he'd been raised. However, as Viper's arms wrapped around him, Sevastyan couldn't just ignore the gesture. The Russian's movements were slightly stiff from having been kneeling at the fireplace. That didn't stop Sevastyan at all from leaning into the embrace like she often did and wrapping his arms around her. He rested his chin upon Amaranth's shoulder, his head resting against hers.
