Vaight Manor - Entry by invitation only...(lol)

The two Vaights and Bob reappeared. Reginald threw some floo powder in the fire and removed the silencing spell.
"Hogwarts." He muttered, watching as his son vanished down the fireplace.
"Bob, go back to work."
"Yes Master."
Reginald walked out of the room, a steely glint in his eye.
He had a tournament to arrange.

---Four hours later---

Reginald put down his quill. The final invitation letter was finished. He summoned Bob and sent him to deliver them to all Vaight family members and friendly or allied families. He remembered giving Ana and Darien some slips for friends to come along as well and smiled slightly.
Hopefully, they would choose wisely.
The current champion and head of the Vaight family sighed. Another clan meeting, another family reunion.
He just hoped Darien wouldn't let him down this time.

---The Day of the Tournament---

Reginald walked around, surveying the newly constructed duelling pits, each containing a dais, and referee stand, benches surrounding the pit at ground level. Five pits, five referees. Reginald of course would remain in the Host's tent, when he was not checking arrangements or collecting scores. The eldest members of the family, would be required to referee. The scoresheets were ready, to record who won what, and now all left to arrive were the guests. All houselves were already present, having arrived ahead of their masters to prepare the dinner. Isabella was waiting at the gate to welcome the guests.
Reginald surveyed the area once more, then retreated into a large tent, where a newly-constructed fireplace stood for those travelling by floo powder. He waited patiently for his daughter, son and thier friends to arrive. He needed to brief Ana on how to organise and host the second half...
And he had to make sure Darien didn't embarass him.

Ana appeared in the fireplace and Reginald extended a hand to help her out.
"My daughter...Where are your brother and guests?"
"They're still at the castle father, I came early so I could find out the complexities of the second half which I shall be hosting."
Reginald beamed. "You brilliant girl. This way."
They walked into the sunlight, and towards the large stand at one end, where it could see all five duelling pits.
"It is simple in essentials, just annouce the begining, end, and settle any disputes between the competitiors and the referees. Then at the end, you announce all the scores and award the trophy to the winning group. I am sure you will manage it prefectly."
Ana smiled. "Thanks Dad."
"I trust you are competing in the first event?"
"Of course, Father."
Reginald hugged his daughter. "Now remember, be as courteous and polite as always, and don't be worried. Remember, the family loves you."
Ana smiled. "Is mother by the gates?"
"Yes I must join her directly, but you must remain here and wait for your friends."
Ana nodded and Reginald walked at a brisk pace to the front gate, where he and his wife stood waiting to greet the guests.

Darien took a deep breath as he arrived safely in Vaight Manor.
They were standing just outside the tent contining the fireplace, and he could hear Ana inside.
"We're here Ana. But I couldn't find the twins..."
Ana cursed, grabbed some floo powder and stepped into the flames.
"Slytherin Common Room."
She vanished and Darien turned to Diana.
"Are you okay?"

"Yes," Diana said but in truth Diana felt a bit ill. She wasn't entirely sure if it was from the apparation or the fact that she was going to be faced with a whole household of her family's foe. Not that they needed a reason to hex her. She was afterall in a dueling competition. 'What did I get myself into?'

"Don't worry, I won't let them touch you. And besides, they probably won't know who you are, just don't mention your surname... And steer clear of any Vaights who might have seen you ever."
He smiled at Diana.
"Relax, they're more likely to kill me than you..." His eyes flickered to someone over Diana's shoulder. "Oh...shine a- Ana! Gods...she's...oh...curses."
He realised he was being inaudible.
"That's my father's brother in law...he's a very violent man. Name of Ignatius...and I kinda tried to bite him, as a wolf, last time we met." Darien swore inwardly as Ignatius met his gaze and left his wife talking to an old aquaintance and walked towards them.
He was about forty years old, with a pale, wide face, with two large scars from his temple to his jaw bone. He walked quickly, but rather like a charging rhino. His whole person radiated power, and anger. His eyebrows were bushy and a dark brown, and his eyes were a dark green, that seemed to grow darker with anger as he approached them. He wore a long black cloak, black boots up to the knee, black robes, and his shirt had a green explosion in the middle, with a serpent's head, eyes glowing red, emblazened on the backdrop of green and black. His dark-brown hair was nearly down to his shoulders and he had a small goatee on his chin.
Darien wore inwardly again. Why did he always have to pick fights with the most violent person at the party.
Because there was no doubt, that Ignatius was the most violent man at this competition.

Diana saw Ignatius through her periferal vision. Darien was right, even by the looks of him, he radiated danger. "Will he be dueling at the second half?"

"Both halves..." Darien whispered to Diana, his uncle was getting nearer. "Last time, he was disqualified for breaking his twin's friend's nephew's leg. Unsurprisingly, that family hasn't turned up at one of these since. Dad was really mad- Hello Uncle Ignatius...How are you?"
Ignatius snorted. "Darien. Hi. And don't pretend to care boy, it can be very wearing." Darien was silent.
"Well, you imbecilic pile of useless slime, aren't you going to introduce your uncle to your...friend?"
Darien kept his temper and smiled frostily.
"Of course. Diana, this is my...uncle Ignatius, Uncle Ignatius this is my girlfriend, Diana. She goes to Hogwarts as well."
"Are you competing?" Ignatius boomed the question at Diana. Even Ignatius' voice was violent...

Diana nodded, wondering what she should say if her last name came up. Now that she thought of it, she's heard Ignatius' name before under the curse of one of her uncles. "Yes, sir, but only in the couples tournatment."

Ignatius nodded slightly. "I presume you're going with Darien for that then?" There was scorn directed at both children in his voice.
"Yes we shall duel together. Are you entering that section of the tournament Uncle?" Darien fought to keep his voice polite.
"Of course I am! Don't think I'm up to it or something like that?!" Ignatius glared down at his nephew.
"Darling who are you-Oh." A short woman with fake-tanned skin and light brown eye had appeared at his shoulder.
"Aunt Gloria."
"Darien...And who is this?"
Darien almost sighed, but stopped himself in time. "This is my girlfriend, Diana Casillas. Diana, this is my aunt Gloria."
Gloria smiled, although it was clear didn't really care. "Come along darling, we must be going. We'll see you sometime I suppose." She pulled her husband's arm and he reluctantly followed, glaring at Darien over his shoulder until he collided with the side of a tent.
There was a glow of magic and the side of the tent was blasted away. As soon as Ignatius was safely out of sight, Darien pointed his wand at the tent and repaired it.
"Sorry about that..." He winced. "Uncle Ig...is...well...violent. Whatever you do, hope you don't duel against him in the singles, and we'll have to make sure he doesn't challenge us...which is likely." He sighed.
"Where's Ana when you need her? He loves Ana...believe it or not. She seems to be the only person he and gloria can actually stand to be near."
He glanced over his shoulder and saw Ana beckoning to them from the doorway of the tent.
"Come on, let's go in the tent and wait."

As they left, she was grateful that the couple didn't seem to notice her last name.

"Yes, well Ana does seem to be more their type." Diana said.

"Alright," Diana said letting herself be dragged into the tents.

The twins arrived by floo and placed a sheild charm around them selves just in case any decided to use them as target practice.

"HI! Amy, Aiden over here!" Ana called to the twins.
Then she turned to Darien. "Now what the hell were you thinking Darien?"
"What?"
"Well, standing in the middle of the crowd intent on talking to people...Bit thick. In here, we greet, and that is it."
Darien rolled his eyes. "Too late, already cornered by Uncle Ig."
Ana pouted. "You are always complaining about Gloria and Ig...really, it is kinda your fault. If you hadn't tried to bite him, he wouldn't insist on hating you so much."
Darien rolled his eyes.

The twins walked up to Darien and Ana.

"Uncle Ig? Isn't that the violent one?" Amy asked.

"Yes. The evil mindless fight-picking violent one."
Ana rolled her eyes. "Yes, he's violent...but Darien did make him crazy by trying to bite him! He wouldn't keep picking on you if you hadn't..."
"Oh shut up Ana."
Ana glanced at the list in her hands. "Yes, everyone is accounted for. All the younger cousins arrived before or side-along apparition. Bob!"
Bob appeared. "Please tell Dad that everyone has arrived through the Floo." Bob bowed and vanished.
Ana extinquished the fire and turned back to the others. "Okay we have...a few hours until the singles duels, for mingling etc..."
"Great." Darien said, extraordinarily sarcastically.
"Okay, we need a plan."
"Hm...how about, we just stand behind Ana all the time."
Ana gave him a withering look. "No. We can go to the stands at the farthest arena, barely anyone will be there."
"And on the way we hide behind you."
Ana rolled her eyes and walked briskly out the tent. Darien braced himself and followed.

The twins followed Ana and Darien into the tent, awaiting the reunion with their distnant relives.

Diana followed Darien closely behind.

Relative spotting time! Ana thought to the twins.
Darien rolled his eyes and ignored the Ana's commentary.
"Ana! Darling! Darien, my favourite nephew!"
Aunt Rose...About the only relative who likes Darien. The woman smiled toothily and waved, pulling her husband towards the little group. She was young, wearing bright robes and lots of beads and jewellery. Her husband was fat and maroon in the face from drinking too much alcohol. Even now he had a martini in his hand.
As he stumbled over, already fairly tipsy, Ana smiled and Darien managed to avoid showing the dismay at being seen and stopped so early.
"Aunt Rose...Uncle Harry..."
"Darlings! Oh, and who are you three? Introductions darlings! Introductions are so very important."
She's kind of crazy...
"Aunt and Uncle this is-"
"Darling, you must let them speak for themselves!" Aunt Rose laughed and Harry downed his martini and clicked fingers at a house-elf for another.
"I'll start shall I? I am Rose Vaight, and this is my husband Harold. I am Reginald's sister." She looked expectantly at the twins and Diana.

Twins nodded at the only aunt who seemed normal.

"We are Amy...

"and Aiden Avalon, it is a pleasure to meet you "

Rose smiled, and Harry grunted, forehead wrinkled in thought as he examined his drink.
"Well met. And what's your name my dear?" She turned to Diana.
Darien cursed inwardly.

"I'm Diana...." she wondered if she should lie and say a different name. Diana inwardly shook her head, might as well be honest. "Casillas."

Harry's eyes refocused slowly onto Diana. Rose immediatly placed a hand on his arm, as though in a warning.
Darien draped an arm over Diana's shoulders protectivly and Ana watched Harry's expression like a hawk.
Be ready to run...This could get ugly.
"A Casillas? Here? At a Vaight event? YOu have guts girl. I congratulate you on that..." Harry passed his glass to Rose who shot an apologetic glance at Darien.
Harry coughed. "Darien, get away from the Casillas."
Darien stood up straighter, towering over his uncle. "No." He stepped in front of Diana, arms folded.
Ana watched her aunt's expression. It was almost pitying, and as she met Ana's gaze she grimaced apologetically.
"Uncle Harry, let's be reasonable about this..."
Harry reached into his pocket and pulled out a short, thick wand. Darien pulled his wand out of an inside pocket.
"Please...please can we just-"
"Quiet Ana." Harry and Darien commanded at the same time.
Oh gods...Did any other relatives hear that? Ana anxiously thought to the twins.

Diana's eyes widened with the way things played out.

All of this because of a stupid name.

"Darien..." She didn't really know what to say, but she had a feeling this wasn't going to be good.

Ana glanced at Diana and shook her head slightly, apologetically. There was nothing she could do. Only Reginald could ever get Harry out of his tempers, and he was at the entrance.
How could they snap Harry out of this?!
Rose seemed to be trying to tell her something, by nodding at her then Harry. Darien was too annoyed to notice. This had been stressing him out all day.
Was she trying to tell her it was hopeless?
A voice pressed against her mental barriers. Ana, be more like your father.
What? Oh.
Ana tried to remember what to do...
"Harry! Harry!" She walked forwards between Darien and Harry and pushed against her uncle's shoulders. "Harry snap out of it." She remembered her father's voice, commanding and powerful.
"Harry...stop it. Now."
Darien raised an eyebrow. Well, that was unexpected. She almost sounded like...Dad.
Rose stepped forwards and pulled a confused Harry back.

Amy and Aiden pulled out their wands just in case an riot started.

"We will find out momentarily Ana" thought Aiden.

Diana was very confused about all of this but she pulled Darien back just as Rose pulled Harry back.
