"What Bella does not know will not hurt me..." Reginald laughed. "Don't worry, she is doubtless mingling with her aunts and sisters somewhere, talking about irrelevant and pointless stuff..."
He sighed.
"I hope Ana can prove to them quite how much better she would be for the clan than her idiot brother. I'd disown him but then that imbecilic Ignatius would be leader after me...and I do not wish Ana to be short-changed that way. Darien is just not the heir he should be. But I am sure that I should not detain you any longer." He began to walk towards the arena. "I shall see you at some point I am sure, my dear Amaranth." He inclined his head and walked towards the top box.
Time to start hosting.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Vaights and honoured guests...You are all most welcome to the 495th annual duelling tournament! Now, the singles event shall commence momentarily. Please consult your programmes to see which court you have been assigned to and make your way to that court so the games can begin. The first duellers are written on the table located at the edges of the arenas. Thank you."
He sat back in his seat and waited for the ready signals from the five arenas.

Ana glanced at the programme.
"Hey, we are on this court anyway. No need to move." She got up. "I'll see who's duelling first. Are you four entering this half?" She inquired.
Darien detatched himself from Diana long enough to mutter a "no".

Amy turned to Ana, "Apperently the elders of your family are judging the competion"

"Of course...it's dad's way of making them feel included and not having to employ medi-wizards to replace their hip joints all the time." She laughed. People were starting to head towards the stands.
"I'll quickly look at who is duelling first..." She ran to check the timetable.

((Do you want a twin to duel first or shall I have Ana vs drunk guy? If so, which one and how evil do you want the opponant? lol))

Viper summoned her goblet and took a few sips, surveying the other competitors. She scowled when she noticed the intoxicated Parkinson making his way towards her. Before he could say a word she turned away. The top box didn't sound like a bad idea after all...

Ana ran back up the stairs.
"Amy...you're up first. Quick, you've got to get down there. I think they'll let Aiden sit on the benches near the ref...but we have to hurry... Jochem's already down there!"

Amy nodded, and her and Aiden when to the arena.

"Break a leg sis, not literally mind you"

Amy nodded and entered the dueling platform.

The entered her starting position.

Horatio glanced down at the note attatched by Reginald, explaining the twin situation. He cast wards around Aiden's bench to prevent him from assisting or being attacked and held out a hand for his wand.
"Just for the rulebook's sake."

Jochem stood at the other end of the platform. He was twenty-one, with a close cropped beard and dark green eyes. His hair and beard was ginger, and he was average height. He was the youngest son of Ignatius and Rose.
And he thought this would be an easy fight.
He smirked as he walked to the centre and waited for his opponant.

Aiden frownd but handed his wand to Mr, Vaight any way.

"Very well" Then he turned his attention to the fight and nodded to his sister,

"Break his leg Ams, and I meant that litterally!"

Amy smirked and held her wand at the ready.

"Do your worst"

Jochem grinned. "As you wish."
Horatio raised a hand and shot a splash of green into the air. They had to wait a few minutes until the other arenas were ready. A booming voice echoed across the arenas.
"You may begin!" Reginald shouted.
Jochem grinned as Horatio's wand made a sound like a gun shot. "Begin."
Jochem was fully confident as he cast protego and sent a stupefy at Amy.

Reginald turned and saw Viper entering the top box.
"Amaranth! Welcome to the top box...I believe one of your serpents is duelling my nephew at the moment...Amy Avalon I think."
He gestured to the side of the pentagonal box that faced arena five.

Amy easily dogded the stunner and sent a spell of her own.

"Expulso!!"

Jochem gasped as he was knocked backwards.
He glared at her.
"Sectumsempra!"

Amy frown and she jumped out of the way,

"So that is how you want to play huh?"

"Furnunculus!" she yelled flicking her wand and diving in to the libary of darker spells in her and Aiden's head.

Jochem blocked the curse and sent three simultaneous stunners at Amy.
"Terrifying. But I'm not a fifth year!"

Amy side stepped 2 curses and blocked the 3rd.

"Good I thought you were for second"

"Bombardo!!"

Jochem blocked the spell, but was pushed backwards about a step.
He cursed, and non-verbally made a jet of fire burst out of his wand tip and circle Amy. He then sent another stunner and a petrifying curse at her, although the stunner flew over his shoulder.

Amy jumped and summer sulted out of the fire though it had burnt her arms slightly.

"You like fire huh?"

" Lacarnum Inflamarae! Ventus!!!"

Jochem was absorbed by fire and blown backwards, wand falling to the floor.
Horatio stood up. "Halt!" He summoned both wands and quenched the fire.
"The winner is Amy Avalon!" He handed her back her wand and threw Jochem's wand to him.
Jochem stormed away and back into the crowded stands.
Ana and Darien were cheering in the stands.

Reginald smiled grimly. "Well, that was quite impressive."

Amy ran back Aiden and both of them went to meet Ana and Darien in the stands.

"Whew, he was a chocky brat, bet he didn't see that coming" said Amy smiling ear to ear.

Darien laughed.
"That was amazing!" Ana smiled. "And I think dad was watching too." She indicated to the 'top box' high above them.
"Hey, Viper's up there!" Darien exclaimed.
"Wow, that's so unlikely considering she's Dad's friend." Ana replied sarcastically.
"Well, I'm next I think...against that drunken fool from the ministry...Parkinson I think."
She got up and pulled out her wand. "Hope I do half as well as you, Amy."

"Against that drunken fool? You'll wip good Ana, not to worry about it." said Amy still smiling

Ana laughed. "I hope so."
She walked carefully into the arena, pulled her wand from her sleeve and stepped onto the dais.
Horatio waited until Parkinson had manage to descend into the pit before sending the ready signal.
"You may begin!" Reginald's voice boomed once more.
Ana's eyes narrowed as Parkinson sent a continual stream of stunners in her general direction...although his inebriated state ensured that may went in completely the wrong direction.
"Protego...Expelliarmus!"
Somehow, Parkinson managed to block her attack.
"Verbal is for children!" He spat across the dais.
Ana's eyes narrowed dangerously and she non-verbally cast Everte Statum, followed by Immobulus and petrificus totalus.
Parkinson was thrown backwards, tied up and petrified.
Ana lazily summoned his wand and threw it to Horatio.
"Ana Vaight wins!" Horatio smiled at Ana as he unbound Parkinson with a flick of the wrist. Ana wandered back up to the stands.
"Well that was fun."

Reginald beamed. "Now that was amusing, wouldn't you agree my dear?" He asked Viper.

Amy laughed "I told you, you would wip him, everyone know you are not suposed to drink and duel, never works"

"Very good Ana" said Aiden.

"Aiden, I think you're up next." Ana said as she sat back down on the stands.

Aiden nodded "Wish me luck guys" with Amy going in to the referee box


Aiden moved out on to the platform, to see his oponant, the guy was huge, over six feet at least. And his face was cover in scars.

"Oh fresh meat" he growled.

"Don't bet your money on it buddy, or is it"

At the sound of the starting gun Aiden started.

"Langlock"
The tongue of his opponet got stuck so he could say incantation, but still let out a verbalss stunner.

Aiden doged the stunner and rolled up close

"Serpensortia!"

A gray rattler came out of his wand and it bared his fangs at the giant man.

The man stumbled backward and Vanished the snake.

"Aw your now fun..."

"Everte Statum, Expulso"

The man flipped throught the air and landed hard on his back.
"Stupfiy" he yelled finally breaking the tongue sticking curse.

Aiden jumped out of the way, seeing statue near by he tranfigured it into a lion.

"Attack" aiden yelled.

The Lion pounced on man as quick as lightning.


"Halt! Aiden Avalon wins!!" yelled Horatio as the lion was vanished.

Ana and Darien clapped loudly as Aiden pounded his opponant.
"Nice transfig Aiden!" Darien yelled loudly, earning his glares from the people in front. He grinned sheepishly and shut up.
"Nice one." Ana smiled. "Wow, we all won our matches...but that was only the first round. We'll have to wait until everyone else on this court has duelled before we can go again."
She glanced around. That could be a long wait, maybe nearly an hour!
She smiled evilly. "Anyone fancy a trip to the top box?"
