Viper's Pool Party

Diana stiffed a laugh as her duty as Prefect told her to try and stop this. "Vaight, please let your brother go."

Ana rolled her eyes.
"If you insist..."
The chair made it's way over the deepest part of the pool and Ana pointed her wand.
Darien saw his wand soaring towards him and snatched it out of the air. Then the chair disappeared.
He plunged intro the water, swimming effortlessly to the surface, grinning. His trunks were now the normal green and black.
"Thank you, you've been a great audience!"

Viper raised an eyebrow at Eglantine's comment. "Positions? Well, I suppose a few other's tend to go overboard with tattoos. But I'd like to think I did alright when choosing where to put the family symbol. Not to mention the fact that Grandfather was a bit controlling when determining where to place it." she smirked. "So you're a virgin in terms of body art? No tattoos, piercings?"

"Indeed." Eglantine answered, reaching out to grab Edwin again. He had somehow managed to pull on of the floaties off of his arms and was partially submerged in the water. "Both my mother and father had the dark mark." she whispered. "I decided when I saw them, that I did not ever want to have a tattoo or marking."

Viper nodded. "Lucky for you had a complete choice." She looked down at her feet before asking. "May I tell you a secret?"

"Of course." Eglantine charmed the floatation devices to stay on her son and then released him.

Viper raised herself out of the water to sit beside Eglantine. She drew her foot beside her knee and pointed to her ankle. On it was a miniature tatoo of the dark mark. "Talk about family devotion, eh?"

Eglantine nodded, her eyes only remaining on the tattoo for a split second.
"I take it you were not given a choice."

Viper shook her head. "I was two when my father burnt it into me."

"How awful..." Eglantine stated, despite the fact that she didn't sound appalled. It was not uncommon for wizarding families to do things like that to their young children.

Viper shrugged. "He did it deeper into me than the others. I wasn't his or my mother's favorite child. Disciplining me wasn't as much of an entertainment for him as it was with the others..." she thought of her siblings, two having died because of his disciplining styles.

Eglantine looked at Viper, her eyes clouded with horror. "There were others?' she asked softly.

Viper nodded, slightly alarmed by the horror evident in her face. "Yes...didn't you know? I was the seventh born..."

"The seventh?" Eglantine repeated. Did that mean that four young children had met their death leaving only three Vipers behind?

Viper nodded, diving back into the water but floating on her stomach so she may still carry on her conversation with Eglantine. "Yes, there were eight total live births: Leviathon, Xavier, Odessa, the twins Belial and Botis, Dracovan, me and then Ares. There were a few miscarriages afterwards, but I suppose those don't quite matter."

Eglantine nodded silently. The thought of so much death most of them probably children, hurt her terribly. She had only had one miscarriage; but it had been enough to make it impossible for her and her husband to try for another child. Richard had been greatly disappointed when it had become clear they would never have a child of their own. And now there was Edwin... she shook the thought away.

Viper raised an eyebrow at Eglantine's silence, desperate to change the subject. "How did you get so good with children?" she wondered, knowing how great of a mother Eglantine was, despite not having any previously before Edwin. After all, Viper didn't have any children either and she was a menace when it came to taking care of them. Even the ones she was specifically in charge of such as the younger serpents.

"I'm afraid I am not very good with children." Eglantine stated, making sure Edwin hadn't found a way to pull of his floaties again. "My parents were very busy and I had to raise my brother almost on my own."

Viper raised an eyebrow at Eglantine's modesty. To be frank, the woman was a godsend when it came to children. All of them loved her. Even a few Slytherins had a soft s[pot for her. She smiled gently at Edwin's playing form, noticing how he was getting frustrated with his floaties.

She gestured to him with her head. "May I?" she asked Eglantine.

Eglantine smiled. "Of course."

Tentively, Viper approached the swimming toddler and reached her hand out, seeing if he would agree to her offer and if he trusted her enough.

Edwin grabbed her outstretched hand, beaming up at Viper. "Watch!" he exclaimed proud of his abilities. Dipping his hand into the water, he levitated a large dripping amount of it up into the air.

Viper laughed as she took the toddler into her arms, swimming farther into the deep water so that Edwin may experience it. She smiled at his enthusiasm. "Would you like to go under?"

He shook his head vigorously. "Yes, peas!" Mama never let him go under the water during his baths and he had always wanted to.

Viper smiled. "All right, ready?" she asked him, knowing that chances were Eglantine did't approve of this during bath time. Oh well, there were many people around. She wouldn't murder Viper in front of so many witnesses. "One, two, three!" she saiod dropping down under but resurfacing a split second later.
