| It had been a busy month for Rossalyn McConn-Kaminski, she had a deadline to keep for music company buying her song lyrics, and long hours in a hospital had made for a hectic weak for the young witch to say the least. Plus the fact she had the ever present illness didn’t help things one bit either.
She sighed, with her head against her left hand on her desk and her right hand writing fiercely with her a quill. She had a week to finish it, and get it to her editor, yet she wasn’t anywhere near finished or happy with what she had less far… as her quill ran out of ink she growled frustrated and muttered about having to get some muggle pens.. However do to the fact she was exhausted and running off of coffee.. Her hands shook and caused her to knock the ink bottle all over her written work up to that point.
Rossa chocked back tears and sat back in her chair, all that for nothing.. Not even magic could fix it now.. She waved her wand and cleaned all spilled ink on the parchment and table. She was about to start writing it over again when she looked at the clock..
“Oh ****!” She snapped as she jumped out of the chair and made a run for down stairs, she was later for her work shift at the hospital and she had yet to eat anything, mostly due to the fact she felt like she could keep nothing down…
However on her way down the stairs to the main floor, she started to feel very dizzy for a second, like the room was spinning. She clenched on to the railing to steady her self however her world went dark and she soon lost consciousness. Allowing her body to fall down to the bottom of the stairs, making a loud crash on her way down… and she remaind Quiet after that.

| Demyan was busily working on a complicated potion for his internship at an international potioneering research lab, a Japanese senior intern’s head bobbing cheerfully amidst flames of a floo. While he wasn’t nearly as dedicated to the craft as his mother, he was doing rather well in his learning. Not to mention he’d had loads of help from both parents as a child the moment he took interest in it.
“Okay, I think this is done. Thanks for your help, Akira,” Demyan said with a grin to his friend and colleague as he stoppered the phial. “That was one b**** of a potion!”
“Doo itashimashite, Kaminsuki-san! Dewa ashita,” the youth on the other side of the floo network replied.
“Dewa ashita... See you tomorrow,” Demyan replied, without even thinking, as he labeled the bottle with the pertinent information. Since most of the interns he worked with were Japanese, and because when he got to vote on vacation spots he’d always chosen Japan, Demyan picked up on the language quite rapidly.
He was about to start cleaning up the mess of preparing potions when he heard a series of thuds and a loud crash not too far away. Glancing to the clock, he noticed that Rossa would’ve left for work some time ago. Did they have an intruder?! Wand out, Demyan headed out into the hall and into the foyer. He ran a little faster when he seen someone lying at the bottom of the stairs...
“Rossa!” Demyan shouted when he realized it was his wife on the floor. He glanced about for an attacker, but judging by the state of things she had fallen... perhaps fainted. “Rossa... Rossa wake up!” he called to her again, tapping the side of her face in attempt to elicit some sort of reaction – a blink, a twitch. Something... Anything.
Panicked, he stepped around his wife and ran to the fireplace, tossing in a great deal more floo powder than was necessary. “Aunt Sveta!” he yelled to the flames, though had no idea whether his aunt was at home or at the hospital. He stuck his head into the flames and, sure enough, came face-to-face with his aunt and a colleague.
“Privyet, De-“ Svetlana Kaminski began to greet her nephew when she realized how pale and worried he looked. “What’s wrong?” she asked, turning deadly serious.
“It’s Rossa!” he blurted. “I-I think she fell or something... All I heard was a crash. Wh-when I went to see what happened she was on the floor. Could you just-“
“Move.”
“Wha-?”
“I said move, Demyan. I’m coming over right now!” Sveta replied and grabbed a few things from the nearest cabinet. A few clipped Russian phrases between her and a colleague were exchanged before the other witch left the room in a hurry.
Demyan pulled out of the grate and rushed back to Rossa, hearing the click of his aunt’s shoes along the floor not too far away. In his left hand he took Rossa’s right, and with the other he summoned a phial of potion that was the basic equivalent of muggle smelling salts. One flick of his wand and the cork was removed, however he insisted holding the bottle under his wife’s nose by hand.
Svetlana knelt at Rossalyn’s other side and murmured various spells to check for vital signs, broken bones, and other conditions that might have occurred after the fall. While the spells were doing their work, she removed her outer Healer’s robes and wadded them up to place under Rossa’s legs. “Take off your outermost robes, and use them to elevate her legs,” she told Demyan. While normally a sweet-natured woman, her tone suggested that despite how it was said her words were to be followed to the letter and at the very instant she’d finished speaking.
Reluctantly he set down the smelling salts, released Rossa’s hand, slipped off his potioneer’s outer-robes, and haphazardly tucked the garment under Rossa’s legs to keep them elevated. Green eyes whose pupils had turned to serpentine-like slits glanced between the pair with great concern. “Will she be alright?” he asked aloud, brushing a few strands of hair out of Rossa’s face since he couldn’t think of anything better to do that would help.

| Rossa soon started to come around, the spells from Sveta revealing a sprained wrist, a fractured rib and a broken ankle that she sustained from the fall. Her pulse was on the weaker then average side.. Yet not dangerously low..
She blinked her green eyes opened… massive confusion entering her eyes , why was she on the floor? And not in bed?
She looked to her right and saw her worried looking husband…
“Demy? W. what…” she asked. Then she looked to her left and saw Sveta.
“Aunt Sveta?…” she muttered even more confused.. Then she remembered the days events in a rush… her hurry to get the song done in time for next weeks deadline and completely ruining it…
Feeling ill and everything this past few weeks… and oh yeah being horribly late for work… Then it suddenly dawned on her that she must have passed out for some reason while going to down the stairs… a realization she would have rather not had..
“Oh Merlin… “ she muttered covering her face with embarrassment. .
“I’m sorry…I..” she said as she attempted to sit up, not a wise move as her face paled once again and see looked as if she would faint again… and the pain from her various injuries started to make them selves known and she winced and swore under her breath… She felt like she had been run over by the knight bus a few times… and then sat on….
“Ow…” was the only sound she made before she lay back down again..
She looked at Demyan, the love of her life and squeezed his hand as if apologizing for worrying him so…
The she sent a look to Sveta, as if to say.. “if you have bad news say it now…. Or forever hold your peace” there had to be reason why she felt like this.. Something had to be wrong with her… and it wasn’t from her hectic work either… this was worse then that… granted her working so much this month likely didn’t help… but it couldn’t be the reason behind her fainting…
Of course the idea she now had another life inside her didn’t cross her mind.. So caught up her mind was…

| Sveta glanced at the runes and began tending to what she could. “Demyan, try not to fret. It vos just a little tumble, and nothing I can’t handle. Although...” she said, trailing off.
”Although?” he questioned her in Parseltongue, a pair of teeth elongating into snake-like fangs to match his transformed eyes. However, all thoughts of wondering what his aunt was talking about vanished when he heard his name spoken by his wife’s lips. Instinctively, he placed a comforting hand on his wife’s shoulder. “Rossa... Merlin, are you alright?!” he asked, checking her eyes briefly.
The Russian witch glanced to her niece-in-law and nodded. “You had a little fall, dear. Not to vorry: I’m on it. But, you’ll have to rest for a few days and take it easy,” Sveta said calmly.
“Oh Merlin… I’m sorry…I..”
“Rossa, it’s alright...” Demyan began to say, though paused upon noticing how quickly she paled. He gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders as Sveta pressed to urge Rossa back into a reclined position. Both Sveta and Demyan were relieved she eventually did lay back again, Demyan gently trying to assist. Svetlana was actually rather glad she was treating Rossa and not Demyan or Sevastyan: both men tended to stubbornly protest treatment unless they were dying or were too weakened to care. Praskovya called it ‘Kaminski stubbornness’...
Demyan squeezed Rossa’s hand in reply, his serpentine features standing down now that his wife was conscious and seemed alright, all things considered. Slowly he brought her hand to his lips and placed a kiss upon it, thankful to whatever deity out there responsible that the love of his life was not too grievously injured. If his aunt said there was no need to worry, then all would surely be alright... or was she just trying to keep them calm? Only time would tell.
Svetlana used a combination of spells and salves to do what she could for Rossa’s wrist, rib, and ankle. While spells had reversed the damage to a degree, Sveta still cast further incantations to wrap the wounds so that the rest of the healing could happen on its own. Nothing a day or two of downtime wouldn’t accomplish. Now to contemplate the weaker pulse... obviously Rossa had fainted and thus that would mess with her pulse a bit. But there was something else. After running a further, very quick test, Sveta smiled sweetly.
The witch nearly burst out laughing at the look she was bestowed with, though managed to keep it under control and patted Rossa’s shoulder instead. “The bad news is you have a sprained wrist, a fractured rib, and a broken ankle. I’ve mended them as much as I can vith spells alone, but a couple of special potions and some bedrest should do it. But, there’s something else, also...”
Her smile expanded to cover from ear to ear, pleasantly sweet as was her general disposition. “I recommend you take it easy for a vhile, Rossa... Days can be particularly draining ven vone has a baby on the vay,” she said, glancing between her nephew and niece-in-law to see how they received this news.
Demyan could’ve sworn he’d heard and felt his jaw hit the floor beside his wife.

| Rossa bit her lip, seeing her husbands serpantine features, since it made little sence that he was mad or doing it for fun she concluded that she had Scared him with her fall.
She nodded to Sveta, "Okay.... I guess I have little choice at the moment" she said softly as Sveta worked on her injuries. It could have been worse she knew.... and she had been going a little to hard lately.... She should have known better... but then one of her instructors Healers were always the last to seak medical help with something... Still it had been rather stupib of her..
When Demyan kissed her hand she let out a breath, and gave him a smile, she was also happy to note he seemed more relaxed and less snake like. Not there was anything she didn't like about his snake form. It of course worried or bothered her when he transformed cause of Fear or anger. Gentle she moved her hand to caress his cheek, the next best thing she could do since she couldn't really sit up and kiss him back yet, though she wanted to....
Rossa nodded to her Aunt in law about she injuries, so she would only be off her feet for afew days... at most.. But then she caught the "Something else" end of the sentense.
She gave Sveta another confused look... Why was Sveta smiling when she had something else wrong with her?
"What?..."
“I recommend you take it easy for a vhile, Rossa... Days can be particularly draining ven vone has a baby on the vay,”
It took a moment for her Aunts words to sink in most of the way, and the look on her face mirrored her husbands.
"A... Baby? You.. ya mean.. I am..?" she asked, so in shock tired to sit up again, protesting tender rib or not. She looked at Demyan, and her hand seem to automatic glide over her still flat stomach.
"I am pregnant?" she murmereed as the tell tail sighs floated into place in her mind and how stupid she felt for not seeing it or even suspecting it first.
Already knowing the answer to her own question she looked at Sveta again. "Is the baby alright? I didn't harm it or anything with the fall or over working did I?" she asked as her hand sought Demyan. She would never be able to forgive her self if something happened to their child casue of her folishness.
