Kiara was out on the portch enjoying the warm sun emensely it was the day before her birthday, and she was trying to enjoy the last bits of 49 and the last peacful day before returning to hogwarts.

Rossa had gone with Kaylie shopping and to also babysit Caleb for a few hours afterward so she would be gone most fo the day.

She let out a breath and with a slight cough.. due to full moon rose and went to the kitchen..

"Ciaran! want some lemonade?" she asked since she was at the fridge anyway..

Hobbling, due to the fact he was both alone and unfortunately injured, Ciaran grimaced as he all but fell into his chair in the living room, just as Kiara's sweet voice called to him.
"Um... sure, darlin." he returned, easing off his boot and then sock to see his toe. It was swollen, at an odd angle and purple with a dark yellow pus forming on and around the slightly protruding bone. He sucked in a quick breath. Oh it hurt...

He had damaged it in a friendly duel with one of his fellow aurors and had not really noticed the pain due to adrenaline, excitement and other aching parts of his body until later that night- by then he had been so tired he had simply fallen asleep. Now two days of busy work and heavy nights had passed and it was infected and still very broken.

Thankfully he had been able to keep it from Kiara and everyone else. He didn't want anyone to make a fuss.

She poured two glasses of the sweet citriusy liquid and headed to the living room from which she heard her husbands voice.

She walked into the room to see Ciaran on the chair and something looked painfuly wrong with his big toe..

"Ciaran? what happened to your foot?" She asked putting the his glass of lemonade on the end table beside him before she knelt beside him to look at it his broken toe.

She winced sympathiticly it looked terribly painful.

"When did this happen?" she asked a mild amount of concern in her voice and eyes, it looked infected aswell as broken.

Caught... Ciaran would have blushed red, had he not already been from the combined pain of his foot and the long walk/apparation had reduced his fair face to a mirrored tomato.
"I caught it agin a stone durin a duel." He confessed, feeling oddly like a child despite Kiara being his wife and his current age... And she had to ask that question.
"Uh... just a wee while past, love. Hardly a day or two..." if only he'd kept that blasted sock on until he'd been in the bathroom...

Kiara's eyes widened a fraction when he mentioned it had been like this a day or two.

"Merlin.. how on earth did you walk on this for that long? Why didn't you say anything?" it puzzled her as to why he let it fester and get worse. he must have known it would not have healed on its own...

Kiara then noted his red face, almost matching his red hair... She sighed and squeezed his hand not wanting to embarrass anymore then he already was, she said nothing... her silly scot of a husband...

He shrugged, feeling terribly stupid to say the least.
"Gave it no time, love..." he confessed, remembering the few times he had even remembered it giving him pain. "I forgot it meself, not ta mention telling ya about it. Sorry." he murmured, etching a pattern into the arm of the chair he sat in with his finger.

Kiara was still puzzled on how he forgot it was there, had she known about it when he first got it she would have been able to mend it as good as new in a matter of moments. However now was a different story.. it was infected and likely more broke then it was to begin with...
He needed Skelegrow, as uncomfortable and disgusting as the stuff was it repaired bone quite effectively... and some Disenffectants one on the toe it self, which she was sorry to say would also hurt... and another that he would have to drink that would help fight off any of the infection that was in his blood stream, but alas.. it would taste awful as well.

"Not to worry love, we will get it mended and as good as new" she said with a comforting smile and a light kiss on the lips and a Caress on his red cheek.

She conjured a foot stool, obviously for Ciaran to rest his foot on... "Come on.. rest if on here love" she said.

She then got up and headed for the kitchen for her potions supply. "Be back in a moment Love, potions are needed." she said.patting him on his shouder as she got up.

Smiling, with his red tinge fading ever so slightly, Ciaran wiggled his good toes. It was rather a unique physical ability he had once been terribly embarrassed about... the singular movement of each toe; probably due to the fact he was also double-jointed, something he could thank his father's family for. It was a fact he had told Kiara in passing; if he remembered correctly. Not that it had much to do with his broken-infected-pained toe.

"Aye... yar love enough makes it numb." he winked, gently cupping the back of her head as she gently kissed him. Obedient, he settled his foot on the stool and watched intently, not wanting to bother whatever she was about to do to him... strike that thought, he grimaced, it made it sound as if she was about to hurt him... he sighed inwardly.

Not potions... he should have just cut the bloody appendage off and burnt it to staunch the bleeding. Anything to not have to endure any foul potions... knowing it was childish to think this way, he sighed, this time audibly.
"No need ta be rushin, love. It be only a toe."

Kiara smiled as she took her potions out of the cabinet, she really truely felt sorry for Ciaran, had it been treated right away... they wouldn't hae to do this...

" Yes it is a toe, and it has been waiting to be treated long enough, with it infected like that, it will get worse. You know that" she said returning with the dreaded potion vials, a goblet, and some medical supplies.

She really really didn't want to have to do this, even though she knew it was for his own good. She hated seeing him in pain, she wasn't sure which one of them it was going to hurt more, him or her.

She knelt down beside him and gave his hand a squeeze, "I will be as gental as I can love... I promise. Think about the bright side, after it is all done, it won't hurt anymore and we can read poetry... violin.. anything you want after okay?" she said, begining to feel really bad for causing him more pain then he was already in.

The she tured her attention to the vials, "which one first Love? the disinffectant for the toe, or the general disinffectant you drink to make sure the infection doesn't make you sick?" she said as she patted his hand.

Indeed Ciaran knew his toe was infected; in fact infected was an understatement. But he still had no desire to take the potions or anything else that may assist him. Ah the things one did for love.

"Can't feel a thing, love." he muttered, partially truthful, since his toe was so swollen it was for the most part numb. The afterwards part sounded perfectly lovely and he chuckled. "Couldn't we just be skipping to the later part?" he teased. "I'll take the general and swallow her down." he caved in, hand reaching down for the potion vial. It was by no sheer chance of nature that a "vial" sounded exactly as a word with different spelling...

Kiara gave a small chuckle at her husband and obvious reluctence to take his medicen.

" Love you are just as bad if not worse then the children, when it comes to taking medicen.." she said kissing his forehead before getting the direct disineffectant.. She poured a bit into a cloth, and looked to Ciaran again.

"Let me know when you are ready, I am very sorry to say this may sting a bit" she said sincerly wishing she had noticed something earlier..

Gulping down the potion in two swallows, Ciaran bravely, or at least in his opinion, prepared himself for the stinging that would no doubt tickle its way up his foot and leg.
"Just as bad?" he queried, finding the revelation not to his liking. "Ah... worse, I can handle." he chuckled, wishing she'd kissed his lips again instead of his forehead. Maybe a bit of passionate snogging would perhaps force Kiara to forget what she was doing and tada he'd be free of the disinfectant.

"Ready." he mumbled.

Kiara nodded and sighed how she wished she could have someone else do this...

" Alright love, I could hold your hand eh?" she said giving him a small smile.

Being as gentle as humanly possible she applied the disinffectant, and then as soon as she did she reached over and held his hand.

"Aye, it'd help, lass." he murmured, a playful glint to his eyes as he offered his hand to her for his comfort. It did hurt... but far less than he had thought it might; mainly due to the numbness. He was an auror; trained to handle pain and through experience fairly expert at it. But for the sheer fun of it, he screwed his face into a visage of agony unwritable and gasped loudly. However, the fact he only gently squeezed her hand gave away his true level of discomfort.

Kiara give a smile and squeezed his hand back, " There not so bad afterall hmm?" she said. Then as a "reward" she gave him kiss on the lips, a rather passionte one to hopefully distract him from her next action.. setting the bone in his toe.. after that he had to have the skelegrow, to mend the broken bone.

" I need to set the bone now" she said quietly as she pulled away from the kiss.

Then her hand moved swiftly and fast with a audioble snap!.. the bone was back in place.

Ciaran shook his head, holding back a long laugh, which was well kept when he felt Kiara's lips on his. His attempts to deepen said kiss and perhaps even pull her into in lap were foiled however when she pulled back and whispered something about the bone.

Casting a silent numbing spell on his toe, he watched as she snapped it back into place.
"Aye, lass ya truly missed yar calling." he murmured. "Many a man has missed ya at St Mungos..." he teased, pulling her into his lap and kissing her. "Thank ya."

Kiara laughed softly,and allowed her self to be pulled in to his lap.

"Aww, hey don't thanking me yet" she said as she kissed his cheek and reached over and picked up the dreaded Skelegrow.

"Think you could make me forget about this? Silly man" she said as she kissed him and ran her hand through his hair.

"Come love drink up.. then you may thank me" she said in a slightly teasing voice.

Ah the third potion he had all but forgotten about... unfortunately Kiara had not forgotten about it, not even with his kisses.
"Must be losing me touch..." he pouted, more than happy when he felt her gentle hand through his hair along with her sweet kiss. Ah again mentioned, the things one did for love. Drinking back the potion, he gagged most dramatically, even adding a few twitches.

Kiara rubbed his shoulders as he gagged back the potion, "There all done love" she said as she conjured a bandage around Ciarans toe to make sure the skelegrow got a chance to do its job.

She chuckled, "And you weren't that bad a patient either, even with your clever attempts to distract me" she said with a smiled as she kissed him.

"You should know me, I can't be distracted when I know the person I love most in this world is injured" she said as she looked into his bright blue eyes.

"Aye... and I still hold me thanks." he whispered, enjoying the ministrations to his shoulders. As the bandage snugly fit around his toe he chuckled. "All better, aye?"

"Of course not, me love. Anything ta be getting a week bit of yar love..." he tipped her into his arms and soundly kissed her lips before trailing his way down her neck. "Ah... true, love, true." Ciaran agreed, wiggling his eyebrows at her.

She smiled brightly and let out a laugh as he tipped her in to his arms.. she always loved being in his arms... Sometimes.. when she thought back to before she met Ciaran.. she never imagined she marry again... or have children again. There were time when is seemed like she was dreaming and she would wake up at any moment and find it never happened...

If that turned out to be the case... she wanted to enjoy every moment they had together.

Her hand gently ran down the side of his face and slide her arm around the back of his neck.

"For you my love... you get a lot more then a "wee" bit.. I love you a whole lot..." she said quietly before kissing him back rather deeply.

"I do hope so..." he growled suggestively, gathering her up into his arms and standing, paying no heed to his toe, which now proved to have been a wonderful diversion from the usual mundane day talk. He returned the kiss with due passion, finding that holding Kiara was only made better by kissing her at the same time. Fortune had smiled upon him indeed and he believed he was the luckiest man alive.
