Scars: Small crescent moon on right temple about 1 1/2 inches long and a quarter inch wide; "road map" like scars on outer left forearm; and a thin scar crossing the middle of left eyebrow.

General Appearance: At first glance, Abraxas comes off as an old man of middling height and weight with a tendency toward layered robes. His beard is slightly bushy, full, but short. There is clearly some Japanese influence in the way he dresses. His hair is slightly more salt than pepper. Dark eyes have the capacity to be as warm and soothing as a fireplace yet could turn to icy resolve not even a second later when the occasion calls for it. Abraxas has been tattooed, and has a few scars, but he never really liked the idea of piercings.

A tattoo of a fierce Chinese Fireball dragon graces his back from shoulders to just above the hips, on his back. He is rather fond of dragons.


The Magnus family crest is tattooed upon his right forearm. Within this work of art is a way to code and decode messages sent using that particular script. It is not easy to riddle out, and has a Rosetta Stone-like feel: The written code translates into something else... which needs to be translated into yet another code, and then finally the message can be decoded into something legible and coherent.

His Celtic Knot wristband is purely ornamentation these days, and was his first tattoo. He acquired it shortly after a handfasting ritual with Miranda Croft that united the two in wedlock. Miranda received the same tattoo, on the same wrist.


Usual Attire: It is rare to see Abraxas in anything other than wizard robes. He has been around the world a few times, and has invariably incorporated certain styles of dress into his wardrobe. However, as he often does not have anyone to dress up for he usually sticks to the plain and simple. Looking through his closet, one will find a lot of fine clothes that he rarely wears simply because he doesn't want them to get soiled in the labors of the every-day. He is known to layer robes especially in winter, and mostly wears garments of cotton, denim, and silk.

Upon his robes, Abraxas has a special medallion relating to his Family crest embroidered in two places: a small one on the left breast, and again in a larger size on the back:


The wizard only wears a hat or sweatband-type bandana whenever he is involved in rigorous work, or cooking over an open flame. Cloak hoods are, however, a whole different story. A lot of Abraxas's shoes have a distinct curl at the toe.

Family History: The Magnus Family is a pureblooded dynasty of Greco-Roman origin. Julius Magnus is the oldest recorded member of this family, who was born in the year 1296. Ideals on bloodstatus wavered from person to person, but there were more that cared rather than those that didn't. Open-mindedness is one of the family's noted virtues.

Personal History: Abraxas Corvinus Magnus is the second-born son of Scottish/Welsh witch Kenna Murdoch and Grecian/Italian wizard Silas Magnus on the twenty-fourth of May, in the year 1908. His elder brother, Salazaar, had died the year before he was born at the age of seven years. While Salazaar had been born in Wales, Abraxas was born in Greece while his parents were en route to Italy. Two years later, in Italy, the Magnus family was blessed with a third child: a daughter whom they named Gaia Magnus.

When he was a boy, Abraxas had a rather large fascination with books as well as numbers. He excelled in “muggle” mathematic practices meant for those at least twice his age. Since he had such an interest to learn, the lad’s parents began teaching him in the Magnus family practices, and the basics he would eventually be learning at Hogwarts. Needless to say, by the time he started Hogwarts he had a fair bit of knowledge under his belt. Summer of the year 1919, an excited Abraxas received his letter to go to Hogwarts while living on his parents’ Scottish homestead. Kenna thought for sure her little boy would follow Murdoch tradition and be sorted into Ravenclaw, for his wit. However, it turned out he went the Magnus route and was sorted promptly into Slytherin.

During the summer of 1921, when he had recently turned 13, the Magnus family patriarch Apostolos saw fit to have the lad undergo his rite of passage ceremony three years early. The reason for this was because he found the boy to be much more mature than others around his age, and thus earned and deserved the right to bear the tattooed marking early. Four years later, when he became of age, he was given the Magnus Athame. Because his elder brother had died, that made Abraxas immediately next in line for the heirloom. The Athame was the key to Magnus Tower, which he would also inherit upon his parents’ deaths. He would later use this same technique to fortify his second place of residence. By 1926, Abraxas was finished with school and was turned loose to get a feel for the outside world and all it had to offer.

The chance to get out there and learn, and hopefully make a name and place for himself, nearly overwhelmed him.


Abraxas nearly did travel to every country around the world, or at least back then he felt as if he had. However, his parents’ deaths in 1928 had him returning home in a hurry. The cause of death was never ascertained, but regardless he had inherited the Tower where he and his sister would reside. It was also at this time that Abraxas took up rigorous self-study in the fields of Arithmancy and Alchemy, in the hopes to one day be considered a master in both skills. However, this was not the only thing going on in the young man’s life. While he had been in England, Abraxas met and fell in love with a lovely young lady by the name of Miranda Croft. She was three years his junior, and a legal adult in the wizarding world. He married the witch one year later, and eventually had two children with her: Glen Altair and Pandora Alecto. An accident in Abraxas’s alchemical lab within the tower caused a massive explosion, leaving Glen severely injured, Pandora mildly injured, and Abraxas himself badly burned. Miranda, who had been closest to the experiment, did not survive the blast. Quite frankly, neither did Magnus Tower.
