Miranda Maecer's Office

Its a small, cozy room with a neat and tidy work desk, Although Miranda rarely does work in the desk, opting to sit on the floor to do paperwork. Because of her preference the whole floor is a soft, sapphire carpet. There is a fireplace in the back of the room with a small sitting area consisting of a white couch and two armchairs. There is also a yoga ball and yoga mat.

All the way at the back of the office leads to a small garden area with a small waterfall and pond full of small fish where Miranda may mediate with incense when she feels the need to.

The door to her office is always open for any who wish to speak to her.

Horatio McKevin, along with the love of his life, Eglantine DeLanquar, knocked on the office door.
"I've always enjoyed meeting new people, my dear. I don't see why you seem to be annoyed." he all but whined his deep voice making it sound odd. Eglantine sat in her wheelchair and sighed. Horatio had all but dragged her down to the counselor's office for what he refers to as "greeting support". Not annoyed at seeing Miranda again, but more so annoyed that she had been given no say in the matter, she decided to remain quiet and let him believe she was annoyed.

Hearing the knock at the door, Miranda's face immediately brightenedm her eyes shining with curiousity. "Come In," she called out as placed her book to the side of her desk.

Horatio opened the door and entered the office, holding the door open for Eglantine's wheelchair.
"Greetings!" He stated cheerfully. "I am Horatio McKevin, the History of Magic professor. You've already met, Eglantine DeLanquar, the love of my life." Eglantine sighed softly.

"Ah, Professor Delanquar, Professor McKevin, hello! How are you?" MIranda asked as she lead them to the small sittting area by the fireplace. "Might I tempt you with some tea and biscuits?"

Horatio nodded his head vigorously. Tempt? Hardly, Horatio needed only to smell food in order to be more than willing to partake of it.

"I hope we are not interrupting anything." Eglantine stated softly, her wheelchair hovering into the room. Horatio sat down and sighed.

"Lovely office you have here." He remarked, sincerely.

Miranda chuckled softly at Horatio's reply, waving her wand and conjuring a tray with a steaming pot of chamomile tea and ginger newts.

"Oh, don't be silly Professor. My door is always open to visitors," she replied, as she stirred the piping hot liquid. "Thank you, Professor. I do try to stray from the mundane." she nodded, sipping the liquid, seemingly unaware or unfazed by the temperature.

Horatio took a ginger newt, obviously already at home and offered the plate to Eglantine. She politely declined and he returned the plate to the table.
"So who in the staff have you met so far?" Horatio asked, after he had finished chewing. Despite his great love of speech, he had manners.

"Well, I've met Kiara, of course, along with Professor Delanquar," she inclined her head slightly in Eglantine's direction. "Followed by Sevastyan, and a very brief introduction to Professor Viper."

Eglantine nodded. So Miranda was making excellent progress in getting to know the rest of the staff.

Horatio leaned back and folded his arms. "So that only leaves, Professor Ethan Addams, Nurse Juria,..." he trailed off, looking to Eglantine for assistance.

"Professor Palmer and Professor Salvador." She assisted. Horatio nodded.
"And a few others, whose names escape me at the moment." he chuckled. "Age is only friendly if you happen to be potato salad."

Miranda giggled lightly. "Indeed. Have you worked here very long yourself, Professor McKevin?"

Horatio pulled his pipe from his pocket. "No, not that long. About...oh a." he paused. "About two months now I suppose." Eglantine nodded slightly to assure him.

"You are all right with smoke, eh?" he asked, gesturing toward his unlit pipe.

"Oh how lovely, and you've already found the love your life!" Miranda beamed, genuinely happy for the two. After all, everyone needed somebody out in the world.

"And please, go right ahead. Smoke doesn't bother me at all." Quite the opposite, in fact. Smoke reminded her of her beloved late husband Malachite, bringing happier memories to her mind.

Horatio nodded happily, lighting his pipe and sticking it into his mouth. "Yes, Eglantine is indeed a rare find. I'm over a hundred and fifty, and never have a found a woman who could tolerate me. And then I meet a tiny slip of a woman who paled when I suggest she call me by my first name and I'm putty in those delicate hands." Eglantine paled and turned away, both embarrassed and flattered.

"I take it you like your position here so far?" he asked, anxious to learn something about the kind looking woman.

Miranda smiled softly, observing the two. They certainly were sweet together.

"Oh yes, indeed. It is lovely to be back in England. Especially back here at Hogwarts."

Horatio nodded blowing out a smoke castle, complete with banners fluttering in the wind.
"So where did you go that took you away from jolly ole England? I myself was in America and Canada."

"Various schools throughout Europe: France and Sweden to name a few." Her eyes brightened at the mention of America. Just before she had returned to Hogwarts she had been staying with Odessa and her husband in Vermont.

The couple had relocated there shortly after the incidents with the dark lord and with a few helpful memory inducing charms, were able to fill in Miranda all that had happened, especially Amaranth's role, making Miranda even more thankful that she had sought out Odessa shortly after Malachite disowned her. Why, the couple and Miranda had even lived in Miranda's condo after the Viper Banishment.

"Ah lovely." Horatio nodded. "I've been to France in the summer before, to Sweden too. If I recall correctly I was chasing a dragon."

Eglantine cocked her head to the side. "A dragon?" she asked softly. Horatio nodded, chuckling.

A raven eyebrow arched. "I managed to do many local activities during my time in Sweden, unfortunetly chasing a dragon was not one of them. Professor, how did you manage to place yourself in that position?" Miranda asked, her curiousity peaking.

Eglantine looked at him just as curious and Horatio who needed no more prodding, launched into his story.

"My friend had ordered a dragon for a pet, despite everyone's protests...this was about fifty years ago... and when it arrived, it broke out of its pen and flew off. What were we to do other than mount of brooms and fly after it. We chased it for three weeks; and finally caught it hiding in a cave in Asia. Rather funny."

Miranda chuckled at the wizard's tale. "Oh dear..." she managed between laughter, placing her teacup on the table to compose herself.

"How did you find Sweden, Professor?"

Horatio sighed, "I mainly saw it from a broom, but loved the scenery. How'd you find it?"

"Simply beautiful. Out of all the countries I worked in, it was my favorite and the longest post I held." Miranda replied.

Horatio smiled. "I may have to visit there again someday. See the ground view, so to speak." He chuckled, and took another ginger newt. "Had any counseling sessions yet?"

Miranda shook her head. "No, I haven't." she laughed. "A blessing and a curse, is it not?"
