"Would this be temporary?...I'd like to be able to control...well, myself."

"You would be controlling yourself. I would simply be instructing your mind to set up your own wards..."

"But do normal people have that?" Darien persisted.
He didn't want to have a permenant aid in his mind, he'd feel like an invalid.

Eglantine sighed. "Sometimes...I have several wards around my own mind, Mr. Vaight. Anyone who uses Occlumency does."

Darien bit his lip slightly and closed his eyes.
"Okay...That seems...okay...I guess..." He opened his eyes again.
"Please...Could you help me do that?"

Eglantine nodded. "I would be happy to Mr. Vaight. Whenever you are ready..."

Darien sat on the floor and crossed his legs.
"Okay...I think I'm ready."

"Try to remain calm, Mr. Vaight." Eglantine cleared her mind and then entered the boy's. It was fairly simple to avoid various strands of thought as she instructed his mind to erect the needed wards. The wolf part was rather persistent; but as the minutes morphed into a hour and then into two hours, she finally successfully watched as the wards were completed.

Pulling out of Mr. Vaight's mind, she collapsed against her wheelchair back, totally exhausted.

Darien opened his eyes blearily.
It was so..bright... He rubbed his eyes and glanced across at the Professor.
"Thanks...um...professor?"
He stood up wobbling, and fell back down again.

"Are you all right?" Eglantine asked, pushing away her own fatigue. He should have been fine, as she had carefully fed him energy through the process, but them again she had only done it twice before.

"Yeah...My leg just went to sleep or something." Darien shrugged.
"Are you okay Professor?"

"Oh, yes, Mr. Vaight. Just slightly tired. You can control the wards, can you not?" she asked.

Darien transformed into a wolf and back.
"I think so..." He prodded at the wards with his mind.

"Very good." Eglantine nodded.

Darien smiled gratefully. "Thanks..." he noticed a clock had appeared on the wall.
"Shoot!" Two hours had passed?! His eyes widened.
"Um...I've got to go. Thanks again professor!"
He turned and walked quickly out of the room.

Eglantine sighed, leaning back heavily against the chair. "You are most welcome, Mr. Vaight...most welcome." After sitting there for several minutes, she hovered out of the room, hoping it would not have to be used again, but prepared to assist again if needed.
