"Uh-huh." He nodded slightly, then lunged forwards, leaping off the platform. He caught the fly in his mouth and grinned widely. Then his human side gagged and he spat out the fly into a corner.
He hurridly bounced back onto the platform.
"It was...distracting me so I...disposed of it. And yes I have completed the task."

Closing her eyes, Eglantine took a stabilizing breath. The boy had a attention span of two nanoseconds.

"Very well. Now in your mind transfigure a cup into a bird." opening her eyes, she continued. "And try not to act like a fly swatter this time."

Darien sat still and tried to focus all his energy on the cup, turning into a bird.
Then he got bored.
"Done it."

Eglantine raised an eyebrow.
"Very good. Now transfigure back into your human form."

Darien strained and struggled inwardly.
After about three minutes, he managed to change back into his human form, apart from his ears.
He glared at his ears, trying to change them to human ears.
When they finally stopped being awkward, he realised he still had a tail. He snarled and focused, changing into a complete human form.

Eglantine sighed.
"Return here again tomorrow and we will continue this. However, Mr. Vaight...I can only help you if you wish me to." she reminded.

"Yes Professor...um...thanks."
He stood up and left the room.

"You are welcome." Eglantine returned, glancing around the room. Already she was beginning to wonder if she had indeed helped him...

Darien stormed into the room, eyes blazing and a three inch cut on one arm.
Blood was slowly staining his robe sleeve, and he didn't appear to have noticed.
His face was locked in a determined, almost aggresive expression, but when he spoke, his voice was pleading and almost afraid.
"Professor....I think I need help."

Eglantine had been waiting for him, but was still surprised to see him storm in looking so damaged.
"What happened to you?" she asked, rolling closer to him. "You hurt your arm, please sit down and I will treat it." She already had her wand out, pointing it at the cut.

Darien didn't move.

His gaze was unfocused.

His mind was in turmoil.

"I-What-"

His thoughts were fleeting, dissolving without reason. He didn't move...he couldn't lose the limited control he had.

"Mr. Vaight?" Eglantine placed her hand on his forehead, checking to see if he was feverish.
"Tell me what is wrong."

"I-don't-I..I can't-"
Darien shut his eyes, trying to hold onto his human mind.
It wasn't working.
He could feel his control slipping.
He backed up to the wall, and sank onto the floor, holding his head in his hands.

When he opened his eyes again, he was no longer human.

Relief seeped through him as the wolf was content with just being in form. His human mind was free to think around it.

He took a deep breath in and relaxed slightly. The internal war was over...for the moment.

Eglantine watched Mr. Vaight transfigure into a wolf, sighing with relief as he appeared to have some control over his actions.
"Would you mind telling me what happened now, Mr. Vaight."

"I was...well, I was duelling Boris...And...I lost control." He glanced up from the floor.
"Not normal losing control. I didn't notice this," he pointed at the cut on his arm.
"I dropped my wand! I thought I was finally able to control this!"
His eyes flashed momentarily with anger.

Eglantine finished healing the cut on his arm or foreleg as the case may be.

"We will need to continue with your lessons then, Mr Vaight. You can learn to control yourself." Of course she could help him much faster by simply entering his mind and erecting a few wards to help him control the wolf transfigurations...but she was not about to enter his mind unless he asked her too.

Darien persistantly blocked the memories that threatened to devour him.
"How long will it take Professor? I'm sick of trying to bite people."

She raised an eyebrow. "It should not take very long. You must simply "beat" your mind into submission...in other words you must not allow it to consume you."

Darien groaned inwardly. He got the feeling his mind was a much better fighter than he was.
"Should I return to human form now Professor?" THe internal war had stopped, the wolf locked away again.

She nodded. "I teach human students, not wolves." Sighing she added, "Although at times, some students act like wolves." Dry...but nonetheless a bit of humour.

Darien smiled slightly and managed to change back to human form, sat with his back to the wall.
"Okay, I'm ready."

"All right. Very good. Now let's try something more tactile this time. I brought with me an apple, an orange and a pomegranate. Please transfigure each into stone and then back."

Darien pointed his wand first at the apple.
Concentrating, he transfigured the fruit to a stone and back.
"Was that okay?"
