"Oh try this purple one!" Helena said. "It's backless." She grinned wickedly.

"Thanks, Helena..." Zabby said, as she took it from the girl. She said, "Diana, can you come in and help me tie it up?"

"Sure," Diana said.

"See, Diana," Helena said. "She's a good sport."

"Hey, and what's that suppose to mean?"

"Means you don't try out fun dresses." Helena clearified.

"I'll try out whatever you choose." Diana said.

"Hey you heard her Zabby!" Helena said. "Haha, This is going to be fun!" And she dived into the dress racks to find something that Diana would never wear in a million years.

"I think I am going to regret that." Diana said looking at Zabby.

Zabby had slipped out of the turquoise one and into the purple one while Diana and Helena had been shouting over the door.

"I think you are going to regret it." She glanced at the door. "I heard you!"

She turned around to let Diana tie it. "Thanks, Diana. And it's rare that I try on dresses like this."

Diana did her set task. "It looks good on you though."

"That it does," Helena said. "Here Di," Helena threw a dress at Diana. "The dress is red too so enjoy."

Diana held it up and paled. "What dress? This is Lingerie!"

"Stop complaining and strip." Helena said.

"You don't honestly expect me to wear this?" Diana said.

"Zabby, you heard her say..." Helena said looking at Zabby.

"Fine I'll wear it." And she went into the dressing room.

Helena laughed somewhat evilly. "Wait until your boyfriend sees you in this."

Not for any particular reason, Darien walked into Gladrags.

"There," Diana said walking out wearing the barely there dress. "Happy?"

Helena for her part laughed wildly. "Oh my god, Diana, you should totally buy it!"

"I thought it was a dress-up event...Surely a dress of some description is required."
Darien didn't know where the comment came from, but was too annoyed to care.

Diana absolutely paled when she heard Darien's voice. "I..."

"Well speak of the devil and he shall come." Helena said.

Lycoris walked into the store. Seeing Darien and Diana looking at each other, Diana looking... different in her... clothing. She did the only thing she could think of. She promptly started laughing. "Helena," she spoke in between giggles, "is this somehow your doing?"

Helena noticed the tension between Diana and Darien and figured that they weren't exactly in the best of terms.

She put a finger to her lips to silence Lycoris.

Diana however, eyes only for Darien. "I... Darien, this isn't..."

Lycoris nodded. "I'm... going away now..." she hid behind a rack. She wasn't good at holding in her laughter at all.

"Isn't what Diana? Isn't what?"
His voice was hard as flint, words sharp. ((lol metaphore of randomness))
He met her gaze, eyes cold, veiling the hurt that lay beneath.

Darien's gaze went straight to her heart. He was angry at her.

Diana mentally curse herself. What a time to be inarticulate, in the middle of a semi-populated store, faced with her enstranged boyfriend, clad in... well she didn't seem very clad now did she?

"I'm not going to wear this..." She said finally.

"Sure you're not." Darien's face was blank except for the cynical edge to his voice echoing in his eyes.

That bit Diana. She went from her currently shamed state to that of anger and hurt.

"You think I would wear something like this?!" She gestured at her outfit. "To the ball? Do you honestly not know me at all?"

It wasn't fair. She didn't think she could be taken seriously with wearing something that showed of too much skin.

"Well Boris probably knows you better." Darien snapped.

That was a slap to Diana. She did not like his tone.

"What are you saying?" Diana's voice hit a high note. "Darien, what are you saying?"

"Oh don't you understand english any more? Been spending too much time with russians lately? Forgotten your mother tongue?"
He mocked coldly. Normally when he mocked people, he laughed. But not now. He was deadly serious.

Diana's eyes stung. She wasn't used to Darien being cruel. It was very unnerving. "Stop it Darien," she said but her voice lacked the ferocity.

"No. You stop it."
Darien was too cold and angry to notice Diana's pain.
"I'd understand it if he was...if he... if he wasn't Boris!"
He folded his arms.
"You want me to stop it? I am stopping it. As of now. Goodbye Diana."
He turned away, his back to his now ex-girlfriend.

"No," Diana's voiced cracked. "Darien..."

Then something inside her snapped. Why should she grovel? It was he's fault.

"Fine." She said but her voice was slightly weak. She mentally slapped herself for it. "Fine." She said louder this time.

"Fine!" Darien yelled back at her, storming out of the shop.
The door slammed shut behind him and he transformed, running as fast as he possibly could.
He raced on and on, wanting to run away from it all.

Tears were threating to fall but Diana wiped them away. "Can someone please get me out of this stupid dress?"

Zabby glared at Darien's retreating back. She mouthed to Helena, "You set this up?" She was angry. No one should treat anyone like that.

She put her arm around Diana's shoulders. "C'mon, Di..." she whispered, "Let's get you out of that dress..."

She handed Diana her robes as she untied the 'dress' in the back. "There you go..."

Still in the purple dress, she picked her skirts up and stalked out. "Helena...You didn't call Darien in here, did you?" she asked, suspiciously. She liked Helena... She seriously hoped not.
