Martial Status:Description: A jolly looking older man with red cheeks, a soft belly and wild white hair and beard, Eberhard has the appearance of jovial Scottish grandfather. He is tall, a touch over six feet, but slouches normally so he appears shorter. Usually he is attired in a tasteful dressing-gown atop a yellowed set of white robes that don't even remember the last time they were washed, muggle or magical. Personality: Born into a world that did not understand magic or like it, Eberhard worked hard and suffered horribly through the many years of his life. Nevertheless he is a calm and gentle man. He likes peace and quiet, the soft cool mountain air or the salty seaside. Detesting violence, he is usually one to retreat instead of fight. Needless to say, this often comes to haunt him and he lives with many ghosts of the things he wishes he had done differently. A great lover of literature and philosophy, he delights in reading and does a great deal of writing as well, all in thick tome like journals that are organized by date. He likes children and occasionally visits the orphanage in the nearest town to entertain the children with some sleight of hand. History:A full history for this elderly man would take a very long time to write, if proper credit was to be given it... therefore, for the reader's benefit, a condensed version is offered. Born to wealthy parents as the only child, Eberhard was well loved and grew up with a proper education and a deep love of life. He married three times during his long life and fathered seven children. He lost track of most of his family long ago... as they are many and only a few keep up with him. Most lives muggle lives as well, instead of magical like himself.
During the wars with Voldemort, Eberhard developed many dangerous grey spells to combat the growing evil. However he never had the chance to offer them to the ministry as he developed dragon pox and by the time he was strong enough to send a letter... the war was over. The receiver of the letter saw the potential that his experiments had and decided to take them for more personal use. When Eberhard refused to give his work over, he was hunted by aurors until he finally hid himself away in a secluded cottage... Protected by an ancient shield charm, he can only hope he can remain safe and unfound.
Against his first wishes, he befriended an older widow, Victoria McRanne who is his closest neighbour. Since she is a muggle and lives with her young grandson and granddaughter, Aaron and Eliza, he is always careful to keep his own living as muggle as possible. | |
