Advanced Spells 1

Kiara stood in the middle of the new classroom, she had managed to get the ministry to part with some funds and build a new classroom at hogwarts. It looked like an auditorium then anything.

Advanced spells was a new class at Hogwarts, it was an elective and not requiered that students take it, but she rather hoped a lot of them would.

After a few minutes student started filing into the class. After waiting for students to find their seats she started the lesson.

"Expecto Patronum!" she yelled as she pointed her wand infront of her.

A tigress jumped out of her wand circled around the auditorium for all the students to see.

After a full circle it returned back to her, bowed and then vanished into a whisp of light.

"That everyone was a Patronus, mainly they are used against Dementors, but it was discovered by Albus Dumbledore that they can be used as very effective messangers as well. They are not bound by the physical barriers and as each patronus is unique to the person who casts them messages can't be forged or intercepted. Casting a full Patronus charm is quite difficult to do. In order to cast one you must have a powerfull happy memory and a great deal of focus on your magic. Alright everyone on you feet and lets see what you can do, and If anyone here does have experince with casting a full Patronus successfuly let me see. If you do indeed cast one then you are dismissed if you want to leave. But I would be thankful if you would stay and help other students who might have trouble."

Flicking her wand she magicaly spelled the homework questions in to the air.

Diana watched interestedly the professor's Patronus went out of sight. It was always interesting to see someone's Patronus, it was kind of like seeing someone's Animagus form.

She'd already mastered conjuring the Patronus, however, it was within the classroom walls. Diana highly doubted she could consentrate if there was a real Dementor around.

Still she threw her head back and enchanted the spell.

"Expecto Patronum!" And immediately, a hawk flew out of her wand tip.

Kiara smiled when she saw the Hawk Patronus fly around the room.

"Wonderfully done Miss Casillas, may I ask who taught you the spell?" she asked.

"Oh, my mother did," Diana said sheepishly. "She was in the D. A. when she was in school here."

"Ah well that makes sense most of the members of the D.A. were taught how to cast a Patronus by Mr. Potter. Very well if want to go your dismissed Miss.Casillas or you can stay help me with those having trouble with it. Your choice"

"I think I'd rather help out with the other students." Diana said thinking of the homework pile she'd have to do otherwise.

"OOH! Pick me!" April stretched her hand into the air. "MISS! I want to try!"

Kiara chuckled at her students excitement.

"Of course, give it a try. Remember think of a happy memory, think back to a time when you were the most content. That is the key"

"Ok" Thinks of when she cast her first spell.

"Expecto Patronum!" A golden tiger leapt out of her wand and roared at everyone. Then it vanished again. "...Woah..."

Mark raised an eyebrow from where he was sitting. That was odd. A patronus wasn't supposed to be golden but misty white. He figured that the girl had slightly miscast the spell.

(Gah, the golden patronus cliche rears its ugly head! )

"Oh yeah! Must have been thinking of when my first spell went wrong! :-)" Giggles.

Kiara observed the golden tiger patronus and smiled.

"You did very well for your first cast. concentration help the spell last longer. The golden color was odd though. 5 points to Ravenclaw though that was a very good first try. Any one else want to try?"

Mark raised his hand.

Kiara nodded

"Go right a head Mr. Farland"

Mark nodded as he took out his wand and pointed it up at an angle. "Expecto Patronum!" he cried out and a large, silvery squid erupted from his wandtip, floating high above their heads and just below the ceiling.

His Patronus was actually a smaller version of his friend Bob, the giant squid that lived in the Hogwarts lake.

"Bravo, Mr. Farland very good, 10 points to Ravenclaw. I think I will have to come up with a more challenging topic for next class. You guys are to talented" said Kiara with a big smile on her face.

"EW! That's so gross! Ugh...(Squids!)" April shuddered. She hated squishy stuff.

"Professor! Can I try again?"

"Actually, to be honest, Professor Flitwick helped me perfect my Patronus during last summer break," Mark admitted.

"OMG! Professor! That is like, so unfair! He´s had a heads up!" April whined, stretching her hand high.

"Hey, it's not my fault I knew him from before he became a teacher here," Mark replied with a playful grin as his squid Patronus faded. "Besides, you've got to use every advantage you have, no?"

"Well...My mother knew him, but she didn´t go running to him for help did she?" April crossed her arms. "Anyway, lets get over this. We´re doing this for Ravenclaw." She gritted her teeth and whispered under her breath,"But if you wanna play dirty..."

"I'm not talking about Filius Flitwick, he retired a few years ago. I'm talking about Finn Flitwick, who's been teaching Charms for about four years now," Mark replied.

Kiara nodded

"If you have the opportunity take it you never know when you will need it. And of course you may try again Miss. Katelynne that is why we are here, to practice our skills and learn more. I expected a few students to already know how to preform this charm"

Kiara winked

"Next class should be even more interesting for everyone since what I will be teaching you isn't widely taught"

"Oh. Well I just came to Hogwarts, and my parents wanted me to go to Beaubaxtons so how would I know!?" April nodded at Headmistress Kiara.

"Expecto Patronum!" The tiger appeared once again, this time a silvery, not liquid nor solid, form. "Yay!"

"Very good Miss Katelynne, you learn fast 10 points to Ravenclaw"
