Vampire SlayersVampire Slayers are born not made. One can be trained to kill Vampires, but true Vampire Slayers come from a Line. They are stronger, faster, better than any normal Witch or Wizard. Their blood is mixed with centuries old magic making them immune to Vampire charm, as well as giving them a few charms of their own. Recently, though, only in the last century, there has been a phenomenon that is known as the Recruitment. They are outsiders, non-family members that are recruited to Line. They aren’t as good as the actual members of the Slayer Line but a Vampire wouldn’t want to cross paths with them anyway. However, most Slayer Lines tend to stay pure and only recruit sparingly. There are several Lines that are active today. One of them, one of the best is the Casillas Clan.
History of the Casillas ClanCenturies ago, the Casillas was a noble family based in Sevilla, Spain. They were good to their people, ambivalent and generous. They cared deeply for their keep. However, one night, Sevilla was attacked by savages, human-like creatures that had angelic beauty yet in the blink of an eye, they became demons, demons that fed on humans. These creatures were called Vampires.
The Casillas’ fought bravely with the people to fight them off, but they were simply no match. They were unprepared for vampires that were immune to their bows and arrows, to their iron swords, and medieval weaponry.
The Casillas’ decided to divide the Village up. The remaining women and children would escape in the underground passage right at the Casillas’ Castle, while the men would attempt to kill the beasts, ending their reign of terror.
It was a brave endeavor, but it unfortunately failed. Only one Casillas’ was left. Celso took a long look at the pillaged village before him, the village he had called his home. Blood and bodies littered the ground, bodies of small little children, little children that would never see the light of day again. He roared in anger and stabbed his enemy with a stake. The vampire was destroyed but, Celso was unable to block the attack that came from behind. He glared at his attacker, and with his last breath vowed that his heirs would not stop until all of the vampires that shared the blood of the vampire clan who killed his family and his village were dead. The vampire clan is known now as the Vaight. This vow was a very powerful spell, more powerful than the Unbreakable Vow, after all, the muse that fuels revenge is a vicious old thing. It allowed anyone with Casillas' blood running through their veins to receive enhanced senses, strength to rival the vampire's, and the ability to be immune to their charms.
That is how the Casillas' Vampire Slayer Line was created.
Slayer TrialsThe non-family recruitments are labeled simply as Potentials. Those born in the Slayer family Line are known as Heirs. Before a Potential or an Heir become a full-fledged Vampire Slayer, they must go through the Trials. This usually happens when the Heir turns of age. However, special cases do tend to happen.
In the case of a Potential, they are trained with an Official Slayer, this Slayer is known as the Keeper. When the Keeper feels a Potential is ready, they allow them to do the Trials.
Slayer MarkA magical black mark marks the Slayers from everyone else. Only the Elders of a Line are able to give the Slayer Mark, it is a sign of a true Slayer. On the night that a Potential or an Heir becomes an Official Slayer, the marking ceremony is done. The Mark appears, on the back of the Slayer, just before the nape of the neck ends.
The Slayer Mark is seen below:
Slayer Marks may differ from each Line but it is always in the same location.
Slayer BloodThere is a ritual that would allow a Line to share blood with a certain individual so that that individual would share the same enhanced abilities to those of the line and then some. However, Slayer Blood is extremely powerful and an overdose would prove fatal. Also, since most Lines would like to keep their power in check, they don’t adverse this fact to anyone. In fact, the secret on how to do the ritual has already died. It is written in an old text, buried in the Hunter Quarter Archives in the Restricted Section, but no one knows that.
Another fun fact: Slayer Blood is sweeter to the vampire tongue. It gives them a high, a momentary boost of power. So good in fact that some vampires would do anything to get a taste of it...
