| Ana's room. Also shaped kind of like an alcove. Ish. But bigger, obviously. A semicircle effectively. With the door in the straight side. The walls and ceiling are painted midnight blue, and a sprinkling of stars embellishes the top of the walls and the whole of the ceiling. The small three-pronged mini chandelier in the centre illuminates it all. In the left corner(upon entering) there is a coffin, a dark purple and blue with a design of an Ana vampire on it. Unsurprisingly, her parents chose the design. It is well-made, but not as artistically crafted as her brother's. The floor is covered with a thick blue carpet, fluffy and soft on the feet of anyone who enters. It is several centimetres thick and spongy. The far wall also has windows painted on it, by Ana herself, showing views of sunlight and the human world. These are covered by curtains should anyone enter, and constantly used for blackmail by Darien. There are three pictures on the walls, one of a young Ana, one of the whole family (mother, father, Darien and Ana) and the third depicting Ana gazing out at a sparkling sunset from a beach. But that one isn't a memory. It's a fantasy. On a small, slight, mahogany wood desk, a lamp, quills and other writing materials are stored. However, on the other end of this huge desk, there is a muggle computer. On the other side of the room there is also a muggle television and games console. Needless to say, her parents permit her these only until she becomes a fully fledged vampire. Then they shall get rid of them. The remainder of the walls are taken up by bookcases. Full of books. There are also two bookcases in the middle of the room, as all her various books overflowed into piles around the room. Now these two are also full, and more books are stacked on top of them, as they are only about a metre high. In the right corner (upon entering) there are two hooks. Between these two hooks, a hammock is hung, dark blue and spacious. This is described as a 'reading area' to her parents and Darien, but is in reality where Ana sleeps. She cannot stand sleeping in a coffin. However, the coffin does serve another purpose. Underneath it, there is a space where the carpet can be pulled up, the floorboard too, to expose a small area where she stores her prized possesions, away from Darien's hungry gaze. These include; her favourite book, her broom(shrunk), her wand (when not being used), a pocket watch inherited from her grandfather and a small torch. To enter this room, all one has to do is push the door. And turn the handle. Duh. However, there is also a notice of sorts scribbled here. Darkness blinds, a veil of night, The opposite is always light, It's said to burn through the dark With the sweetness of the morning lark, Yet before I become obscenely old, Can it ever fully free My eyes from their blindfold, So that I may see?

| Ana sighed as she lay in her hammock, skimming through the latest addition of Young Vampires, a small book "Pride and Prejudice" secreted amongst the pages.
She wasn't going to take any chances with her only normal, non-vampire book.
A loud slam jerked her back to reality and she shut the magazine in a flash. Literally. She might not approve of vampiric ideals, but that didn't mean she had none of the powers.
Darien stood, leaning his back against the doorframe. His smirk of triumph was broad. He always enjoyed delivering messages to Ana. Mostly because they usually upset her, saving him the bother of devising a way to upset her himself. He examined his favourite prey with an amused eye, a window to his soul, unrelenting and venomous.
"Hello there..." Using his abnormal speed, which was swift even for a vampire, he was beside her in an instant. He ripped the magazine from her hands and threw it across the room.
Ana yelled an incomprehensible curse and raced after it, crashing into her brother, who had beaten her to it. Not overly surprising.
He smirked, unaware of the muggle book within it, and threw it onto her coffin lid, which he proceeded to lean against. "You won't be needing that soon..."
"What do you mean?" Ana snapped, nerves set on edge by the close proximity of her brother and her cherished possessions.
"Don't take that tone with me!" Darien's eyes blazed a murderous orange and he struck her on the side of the face. Ana winced and stumbled, but didn't fall. Darien's eyes returned to their normal shade in an instant, his face now one of childish glee at the knowledge he possessed. "Or I won't tell you..."
"Darien, what are you talking about?" A slight edge of fear was in her voice. Faint, but easily detected by her elder brother.
Darien smiled, mocking her silently before walking casually back to the door. "I could tell you I suppose..." He halted at the door, feigning indecision to build suspense.
Ana swore as she felt her nervousness mounting. "What-"
"You have a surprise coming up."
"What...What do you mean?" Ana's voice shook. Please...please no...
Darien noticed the wobbling voice and spun around, heading back towards her with sweeping strides, cloak billowing slightly, like some sort of bat. "You are pathetic. Scared by something you don't even know about yet? Coward." He snarled at her. "You're such an embarrasment. Shameful."
Ana flinched slightly as his words cut into her like knives. She shouldn't be so easily hurt. But she was. Probably because his words had truth behind them.
Her eyes watered, only for a second, but long enough for Darien to smirk in triumph. He returned to his resting place against the door, leaning his shoulder against it, his back turned on his sister. "You want to know?"
"Yes." Ana's voice was quiet.
Darien's smirk widened. "Father's moved your initiation forwards. To a week today." His work completed, he vanished.
Ana froze. The worst news she could possibly have received. The news she had been dreading since her first lesson on transformations. Her nightmare. Finally real.
Only seven more days...Seven days...
How was she going to survive an initiation?! She couldn't kill- The thought was too repulsive. She shut the door, numb of all emotion except dread. She slowly sank down, her back against the cold, solid wood, as though it could somehow save her from her future.
Giving up entirely, she allowed tears to flow freely down her face. | |
