Yup, you guessed it, you've arrived in Darien's...lair. Or Domain.
Also Known As... *drum roll please...*
DARIEN'S BEDROOM!
...This is why I called it Darien's Domain...It just sounds so much better.
Anyway...Description...
Picture the
scene room.
A coffin, black and shiny, made of gleaming blackened wood rests in one corner. Pretty normal in shape, but an image has been painted expertly on the lid. It depicts a tall, princely and vampiric Darien, smirking in a way that perfectly shows off his sharp fangs, and wearing the amulet of his ancestors...as will be his right upon the demise of his father and his ascension to the coveted position of Head of the Vaight Vampire Clan. Unsurprisingly, Darien commisioned it himself.
The floor is covered with a thick black carpet, soft and silky, that is about five centimetres thick. This also effectively sound-proofs the room, along with the dark wooden panelling on the walls and the thick paint on the ceiling. There are no windows, hardly surprisingly as it's underground, and a vampire lair.
As for the rest of the furniture, along one of the five walls (It's a pentagonal room) there is a dark wood bookcase, covering the entire wall, both length and height. There is also a section of the room dedicated to Darien's other hobbies. These items include; a thick wooden bat, a thin handle and a large paddle on the other end, used for his training. There is also a desk with several quills, pots of ink and crumpled pieces of paper. This desk also provides a resting place for a new broomstick, leaning against the dark wood of the desk, as well as it's handbook and general supplies such as polish in one of the drawers of the desk.
There are several medium sized pictures along the walls, one of Darien as a child, one of Darien flying (without a broom), one of his initiation and a final one of him and his father departing on a hunt. These were not painted, but made using a pensieve. The memory was poured into the pensieve and then, with great concentration, a still moment from it was copied onto a blank canvas. These do not move, but serve to jog memories in his mind.
In the centre of the room there is a strange tangle of ropes all around a central circle of wood. These ropes extend along the ceiling and across the room, nailed into the floor, ceiling and walls in a variety of places. This is one of Darien's training exercises. To use it, he stands within the wooden circle and climbs up onto a rope. He then swings/walks/jumps around from rope to rope. Whenever he falls, which is usually when he tries an impossible leap, he has a habit of getting increasingly angry. If the rest of the lair is lucky, he will just fly out of the room, with or without his broom to vent his anger in a nearby village. However, he more often breaks something. Or a lot of somethings. Usually not his own.
So, that's Darien's room. And Darien may or may not be in it...So heed the warning carved into the door by it's owner...
Enter if you truly dare,
What you find inside may turn your hair
A nasty, mortal shade of grey.
So think before inside you stray,
Inside the Vampire Prince's lair.
And if you value coloured hair...
RUN.
