Corridor at Night

Kiara sighed and placed hand on Eglantines shoulder, "The rest of the students and everyone else will be fine Eglantine, have activated the wards around the great hall, the common room, and personal quarters. They are safe in those areas" she explained.

"Now as much I don't want to I have to deal with this" she motioned to the student under the cloth.

As much as she wanted to sit and cry over the curlness of it all, she couldn't she had her job to do.

"After I am finshed talking with Juria and sent out the notifications I will take you back to your quarters, alright?" she said.

Eglantine nodded, her eyes drifting down to the body once more.
"That is good." she murmured. So soon after such violence, it felt odd to speak and yet it felt even stranger to stand in silence.
She wasn't sure if she truly wanted Kiara to take her back to her chambers... after all Horatio was there and although he would attempt to comfort her...he would fail.

He had no true experience with death other than that of a friend who went as fate directed.
"Very well, thank you." After Kiara took her to her quarters...she would take Excessum out for a hunt...

Kiara nodded as she numbly went through the halls, tried to push thoughts of other children or person this fate may have fallen on.

She didn't know what she would have done of this had been Tav, or Edwin. Couldn't have been able to bare it as she was now, Auror training or not.

Eglantine followed after, her fingers curled tightly around Excessum's carved side. As a professor, each child was hers in a way...to teach, mold and assist. Parents entrusted the teachers and staff of Hogwarts to protect their children as well as to teach them... this was not the first time nor would it be the last that that trust had fallen...

Viper's smile widened slightly in response, though it still held a hint of meloncholy within it. Merlin, we haven't even hit a fraction to the distance of my rooms and I'm already struggling not to tell him the truth... she thought to herself, biting her lip lightly both out of guilt and to physically preventing herself from having a slip-out.

"I will. I promise." she nodded in affirmation, before gently cupping the side of Sevastyan's face with her hand, enjoying the feel of the roughness of his beard against her palm. "I'll be all right. You're healing skills, or any skill for that matter, are more than adequate." she replied with an affectionate nudge from her forehead to his.

Her eyes fluttered briefly upon feeling the rough texture that had been on her palm, not gently grazing her forehead in an even gentler and loving kiss. Emerald eyes opened once more, inhaling sharply as her eyes and Sevastyan's locked. "Sevastyan, I..." she trailed off, before realizing that she was on the verge of confessing all she knew. "I love you." she finished. While her words weren't what she had originally intended, they were sincere and heartfelt nonetheless.

Comforted that Viper would humor him at least, the corners of Sevastyan's mouth twitched upward slightly as he leaned into the contact of her hand against the side of his face. "I vould like to think so..." he murmured softly and mirrored the nudge she bestowed him. The wizard was rather flattered that the current love of his life thought 'all of his skills' were were above average in her opinion.

For a fleeting instant, Sevastyan wondered if his kissing her forehead might have hurt and hence caused the sharp inhalation from Amaranth. That of course had not been his goal, and thus he dismissed the thought. Surely if it was bothersome, she would have said something about it long before now. He stared into her eyes curiously as she appeared to hesitate for a moment.

When the last part of her statement reached his ears, Sevastyan couldn't help but smile warmly at the woman who had become the first true romantic interest he'd had since breaking up with Roxane. "And I you..." he replied softly in a voice little louder than a whisper, and reached up with a free hand to brush a stray lock of hair from her eyes.

"I missed you last night, after you vent on patrol," Sevastyan confessed with a bit of a smirk. "Is there anything I can get for you, vonce ve're there? To help you rest?"

"I've lied to my family. I've lied to my friends. I've lied to my colleagues. I've lied to various superiors, the entire Wizengamot Court, the Wizarding Society, occassionally even through the influence of truth spells and potions. Why not to him? It doesn't even have to be a real lie, just a lack of truth... Why can't I do it?" Viper thought to herself, leaning into Sevastyan's affection, and reveling in the emotion displayed.

A soft smile graced her face at his confession. "Likewise..." she whispered softly with her own miniature smirk, though she shook her head at his question. "No. I have everything I will ever need right here." she replied, squeezing his hand lightly.

Her leaning into his affectionate actions, after being injured as much as she had been, spoke volumes to Sevastyan. Yet at the same time he knew she needed rest and thus possibly leaned on him for support as well. Whatever her reasoning, the result of her reciprocated actions was a positive one. It strengthened the closeness that was already there.

The arm around Viper's waist tightened slightly at her single-word confirmation that she had missed him. There really wasn't any verbal way to respond to such a thing. Sevastyan contemplated the possibilities of the pair of them going on patrol together. As far as any more surprise attacks from Kazimir, well... they'd worry about that when or if it happened. But yet... he didn't want to make her think she couldn't handle herself, or smother her with his presence to the point of being an annoyance.

Sevastyan's smile widened, if such a thing were possible, upon hearing Amaranth's last statement. He lightly squeezed her hand in return. "As do I..." he whispered into her ear, kissing the area immediately nearby.

"Do you know how long you vere... there...?" the wizard asked with curious concern. Now that Amaranth seemed back to normal, Sevastyan couldn't help but feel as though he should have been there to assist her in the battle with whatever had attacked her.
