Kiara nodded, " Yes.. not as nerve wracking as I thought it was going to be" she said. Keeping to her self how much the no telling them about who she really was bothered her. Yet her nerousness over what they would think of her if they did find out.

Eglantine nodded, nonchalantly pulling Edwin's hand out of the haggis. "Nein, Liebling." she muttered, pulling him with most of her strength into her lap. After all Edwin was a heavy three year old, and he hadn't wanted to be pulled away from lunch anyway.
"Stoppen." she whispered, cleaning his hands with a simple charm.
"Would ya be needing a nappy for him?" Lorna asked, holding out a napkin for Eglantine. Eglantine shook her head.
"No, no thank you."

Kiara sighed, and looked at Eglantine, "What about you? enjoying your self?" she asked, taking a sip of tea.

Eglantine sighed. "Quite..." she murmured, finally taking the cloth from Lorna to wipe imaginary haggis from Edwin's hands.
"Badminton for anyone that's interested!" Tav called running by.

Tav went along with his mum up to the cottage door, wondering briefly why they'd come to his grandparent's, but sighing as he remembered they'd forgotten his birthday as well. He could forgive them; since they were older and had so many grandchildren.

The dark interior lifted his eyebrows. His grandmother hated, hated a dark house. Alarm filled him and he looked up at Kiara just as the lights sprung on and a many voiced shout of "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" filled the air. Yelping in surprise, Tav nearly hid behind Kiara.

Ciaran chuckled as he wrapped an arm around his wife's waist and leaned down to pull his son out.
"Ya didn't think we had forgotten ya birthday did ya?" he teased, kissing Tav's forehead. Feeling stupid, Tav stood with his mouth open and his cheeks red.

Kiara chuckled at the look on Tav's face, "Well I would say he is surprised, wouldn't you Love? and the place looks great by the way" she said to Ciaran smileing before turning to Tav again.

"Sorry we put you around the bend honey, It is a surprise party" she said with a laugh and kissed his cheek.

"What do you think?" she asked him softly allowing him a moment to let the shock wear off. "Like it?"

Tav chuckled as two of his aunts' kissed him and he was lifted up into Horatio's arms to be whirled around.
"Oh yeah!" he cheered, leaning forward to kiss Kiara's forehead. "This is going to be the best ever." his grandmother tickled his tummy and his eyes widened greatly as he spotted the large cricket bat shaped cake. "WICKED!" he shouted, as Horatio set him down and he and a handful of his cousins rushed to inspect the chocolate confection.

"Looks like ya did a great job keepin him occupied, love." Ciaran murmured, kissing his wife's temple. "Thank ya."

A pile of presents were arranged on a table in the corner and one could hardly move for all the relatives and friends. Esis blew a party favour and winked as she approached Kiara, securing a gaudy orange and yellow party hat to the woman's head.
"I brought one of those muggle donkey things to hit with sticks." she beamed. "Filled it full of candy and flour."

Kiara laughed as Esis put the hat on her head and she beamed at Ciaran, " No need to thank me Love, I think I had just a much fun a he did" she said as she wrapped and arm around his back and watched Tav have the time of his life with his cousins and other extended family.

She loved Tav as her son, and it shone in her eyes.

"You know if there is one thing I learned today, it that Tav is quite a kid, I can aleady see him taking Hogwarts by storm when he turns 11" she said happily.

Then a spark entered her eyes, "Oh Tav helped me pick out a toy for Lav in the pet store" she said quietly with smirk.

Ciaran smiled, glad that his love for his wife and son was something they returned to each other. He knew Tav loved Kiara deeply and the little family was as happy as was possible.
"I'm glad ta hear that love." he murmured. "And aye, yar professor's al be havin their hands fill of that lad."

The mention of Lav... Kiara's feline terror... caused a wee bit of a colour drain in Ciaran's cheeks, but before he could comment on how "gulp-lovely' that was; Esis saved him.
"Tav is gonna just die when he sees what I got him!" she cooed, nearly bouncing with excitement.

Kiara chuckled at Esis, "Thats Grand Esis.. as long as we can revive him after" she siad in amusement...

"What did you get him anyway?" She asked just remembering Esis had a certian ecentricity when it came to getting things

Esis roared with laughter, as if Kiara had in fact stated the most funny of all jests. Nervously chuckling, Ciaran wondered the same thing as Kiara. What would they have to suffer through thanks to the batty witch.

Eyes twinkling, Esis wagged her finger at the couple.
"Surprises are not to be told, you silly kids." she teased, lifting a hefty bottle to her lips and gulping back a bit. "WHO'S UP FOR THE CANDY!?" she cheered, waving her wand and setting up a muggle piñata.

Laugher and giggles filled the air as the children and quite a few adults hurried over to take turns beating the papier mâché dog.

Kiara sighed and let out a laugh, she suppose she trusted Esis not to get anything to outrageous..

She turned to Ciaran, "I guess we will be surprised what Tav got the same time Tav is" she said.

She then hugged him for a moment, " I am so glad he is happy ..." she said more quietly to him before kissing him.

The spark came back to her eyes, " You know.. one learns alot spending an afternoon with your son." she said with a playful smile with her arms still gently on his shoudlers. She found Ciaran was awfuly cute while nervous.

Ciaran nodded, scratching his beard as a nervous habit. He knew that Esis had gotten Edwin a puppy; much to Eglantine's horror and heaven help the eccentric witch should she get anything alive for his own son.
"Aye, but it couldn't be too bad..." he murmured, half to assure himself as much as Kiara.
Oh yes it could... a tiny voice in the back of his mind whispered.

Returning the hug, he smiled and kissed her, loving the fact that she was happy because Tav was happy and all the more happy for it.

"Oh, how's that?" he chuckled, kissing her forehead after her lips.

Kiara couldn't help but be slightly nervous about what Esis got Tav... she could handle a animal... though she wasn't sure her dear husband could.

She giggled and said in a mild tone as she half watched the festivies and talked..

"We were in the pet store... playing with the cats and... it somehow came up you were scared of Eglantine cause of her cat form... any truth to that?" she said merely kidding around.. not really expecting a serious answer.

"Oh speaking of cats... " she started her face more sincer then earlier.

"I was thinking... since us getting another pet won't work out... there is a animal shelter I used to volunteer at when I was a teenager.. Was thinking Tav might like it." she said voiceing the idea she had earlier to him... it did occure to her becuse of his low opinion of cats it might not mean much to him... but perhaps it would mean something right? it was something to her..

Screams of delight and surprise filled the room as candy mixed with flour spilt out onto everyone's heads. Ciaran pulled Kiara away before she could get covered and so they could talk.

Paling slightly at the mention of playing with cats, Ciaran patted away an invisible speck of flour. "Ah... well, um, ya see, darlin." he began. Tav and that big mouth of his, he mulled. "Maybe a wee bit, but only that." he assured her. There was nothing scary about the petite blonde witch... nothing in the slightest.

He liked the sound of the animal shelter.
"Sounds lovely." he murmured, kissing her cheek. Any way that Tav could enjoy the company of his mother and animals without his having to be involved with the horrors of the beasts... it sounded wonderful.

Kiara chuckled but her face sofened and she hugged him again. They all had there fears she supposed.

"Fair enough" she said before taking his hand and back out to the party.

" Oh and your son has guts to, he called me old" She said quite indignantly, though the light in her eye told she had fun with that spat.

Ciaran rubbed her back when she hugged him, grateful she hadn't pressed the question. He had perfectly good reasons for fearing her mother...

Surprised at her words, he pulled her back to look into her sparkling eyes.
"Honestly? Aye, me son is a regular Slytherin." he chuckled, trying to imagine why his son would have said such obvious falsehoods.

"Do you have something against Slytherin?" Eglantine asked, appearing as if by magic beside the embracing couple. She had the newest McConn arrival sleeping against her shoulder with a bright patch of red hair that screamed his blood-line. Ciaran shook his head instantly, nervously chuckling.
"Just a joke." he murmured.
"Ah..." Eglantine didn't sound in the least amused. "Tavish seems to be enjoying himself."
The proud father nodded, squeezing Kiara's shoulders.
"Aye, that he is."
