Full Name: Michael Owen Blackwood
Age: 15 (almost 16; placed in 5th year)
Born: November 15, 2003
Description: Michael stands about 5 feet, 6 inches; with narrow shoulders and a build that is between lanky and slightly athletic. His eyes are blue, but in the right light they can appear to be very dark brown or almost black. The jaw line appears to slightly square out, though his chin remains a strong, curved point. His nose seems to fit well in the scheme of his face and tapers outward, the tip appearing only very slightly hooked. A mop of layered, straight dark brown hair covers his head, though he occasionally will dye ((have it dyed, more like)) the lion-share of it a yellow blond-ish hue.
When he doesn’t have to conform to uniforms – something that drives him a little crazy – Michael prefers to wear bellbottomed jeans and generally a tee shirt or tank top depending on the weather, though the style of tops tends to vary from day to day. A leather jacket and motorcycle boots finishes his general ensemble. A single earring - consisting of a smallish multifaceted red, gold, and teal bead with a real runespoor (snake) fang suspended from it – adorns his left ear, though the helix (outer cartilage rim) of both ears are adorned with cuff rings that are simply pinched on. There are two cuffs per side – one in the approximate center between top and lobe, and one almost at the top of the ear.
Michael often wears his earring and cuffs in conjunction with his uniform, in an attempt to be different from the rest. He also wears a bright red cloth wristband on his right that shows his support for the Japanese Quidditch Team: the Toyohashi Tengu. The name of the team is emblazoned on the band in gold-colored thread.

History: Michael was born to two Half-blood parents: Treasa Irene Dolan and Lucas Allen Blackwood, both residents of the United States. Treasa, of Irish descent, lived in Maryland while Lucas – a British, French, and Italian ethnic mix – hailed from Chicago, Illinois. They met at a Weird Sisters concert in Virginia, via some friends of Lucas’ that had moved to Maryland but still kept in touch with their Chicagoan roots and acquaintances.
The Dolans were renowned in Ireland as great Seers, Astronomers, and Arithmancers. Most of the Blackwood clan considered the various forms of Divination to be fraudulent, and so they did their best to get the two to split up out of fear that Treasa would deceive Lucas and take all she could get from the relationship. It escalated to such levels that Treasa and Lucas eloped, both to stop the hassling and to prevent a feud from breaking out over their love for the other. They then decided to relocate to Portland, Maine somewhere both had always intended to live one day. Their house was situated neatly into both worlds: the Magical, and the Muggle.
Michael was the firstborn son of the Treasa and Lucas. His maternal grandfather foresaw greatness, but one of his maternal aunts claimed she saw danger in store for him at every turn (but she was always the more dramatic type, anyways xD). Isabel was born four years after him, and though he’d wanted a sibling he’d had a brother in mind. All predictions for her were bright and rosy – with the exception of the same aunt that had foretold trouble on the way for Michael, but that was nothing new.
When Michael was a young boy he was bitten by a runespoor (it only had one head – the “critical” left one with extremely poisonous fangs) while playing in his own back yard. Somehow, during his attempt to get free, Michael had separated the serpent from one of its fangs which finally caused it to let go. His father, being a Healer, managed to tend and treat his son with herbs and a couple of healing spells and potions, though his right calf would be forever scarred with two prominent puncture wounds and the veins slightly discolored within a two-inch radius of the wounds. As a further testament to this ordeal, Lucas reluctantly allowed his son to keep the fang – after it was cleaned and once any traces of venom removed.
Michael attended a magical school in America, though because his month of birth was so late in the academic year he had to wait until he was nearly twelve in order to start school. Michael’s mother was working as a Cursebreaker’s Aide for the local wizarding bank establishment, and Lucas’ calling happened to involve the Healing arts. Things were going good, and Michael even had a close association that was like a girlfriend even though both were fourteen and really too young to go about such things with any kind of seriousness.
And then Lucas got a promotion, though the new status required a family move . . . to London, England. He never really told either child why, just that they were moving.
To say that Michael did not take the news very well would be a large understatement. Oddly enough, and to make matters worse, he was the only one that seemed against it. He didn’t want to go and end up leaving his friends (and his “girlfriend”) behind. In the end there was nothing to be gained by arguing, so they all packed up and headed to England. Arrangements were made for Michael to transfer to Hogwarts, and for Isabel to attend the following year as she would be 11 by then.
Roads of relationships were roughened as the family settled in – Treasa and Lucas argued behind closed doors, Michael fought openly with Lucas and only argued mildly with Treasa; more than once Michael and Isabel got into squabbles over various things from the trivial to the viably reasonable. It was the fall of that year when Michael used his own funds to dye the majority of his hair blonde, leaving some brown tastefully behind, and got his left ear pierced. Lucas and Treasa were highly unimpressed.
His first year at Hogwarts – technically his fourth year of magical education – had been a little awkward. He was there the day before the rest of the students and given an early sorting. He didn’t really feel there really was much of a specific place for him, but the Hat seemed confident in its decision of Hufflepuff House.
For his fifth year, Michael decided to fashion an earring out of the old snake fang he had kept all these years, and would wear this handmade piece of jewelry with pride and in subtle defiance of the uniform system. In addition he has also added ear cuffs – two to each side – to his miscellaneous apparel.
Though he owns a magically-enhanced moped, see picture here, Michael is saving up his money to buy parts to build his own “real motorcycle,” which at the present time is about one-eigth to one-quarter of the way finished. He hopes to have it completed within the next two years based on his allowances and from the money he earns while playing music at certain establishments, despite his young age. Michael’s trunk has some “extra room” for small parts and things that he can work on during his free time at school.
