Only the red-rimmed eyes and eagerly drawn breaths of smoke stopped Horatio from immediately asking the potions' mistress why she would abandon both her students and colleagues... She had obviously given it great thought, he pondered, saddened by the announcement but controlling himself for the very reason of not wanting to upset her.

Sevastyan... for some strange and perhaps unbidden reason he found himself considering the chat they'd had within her empty classroom over love and prospective partners. She had mentioned a strain in their relationship and now he wondered if perhaps Amaranth was not abandoning her students or colleagues but rather was fleeing the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor... it was logical that they'd had a fight or worse. But he didn't voice those thoughts; not wanting to turn her kind farewell into an awkward or strained parting.

"I am sure you have given this great thought." he stated, sadness clouding his deep eyes. "Nonetheless I shall miss both your presence and smile. May the fates bless and guide you." he completed, reaching to gently take her delicate hand in his. Lifting it up as he bowed over, he kissed it and gave her a sincere smile.
