2029-A Dramatic Plot twist occurs! (Fixed Future)

A few hours later...

Diana had managed to fall asleep but it was very light and at the quiet creek of the door, she woke immediately. She was half-expecting, half-wanting it to be Darien, and though, she wished to be angry with him further, she really wasn't and she wouldn't have turned him away.

"Mummy?" A tiny voice said.

"Darius what are you doing still up?" Diana sat up.

"I had a night-hair," Darius said fearfully. "I couldn't go back to sleep in there."

Diana nodded in understanding, scooped him up and laid him next to her in the bed. Darius immediately cuddled to her pillow and Diana kissed his cheek and curled up beside him.

Darius was already drifting off to sleep, finding comfort in the warmth of the bed and feeling very safe (those stupid little boy eating cows wouldn't dare come to him here!) something occurred to him. "Mummy?"

"Hmm?"

"Where's Daddy?"

"He's downstairs."

"Why?"

Diana bit her lip. "He's... he's... not sleepy yet."

"Mmmkay Mummy..." Darius yawned. "Good night."

"Good night Darius." Diana said but he was already asleep. She hugged Darius close and she found that she started to drift off to sleep too.

Darien gave up battling to sleep, and as his mind jerked back into action, he thought he detected a creak from upstairs.

He was slipping silently up the stairs in moments, and headed straight to Darius' room.

A swift glance inside showed a sleeping Zeph and...an empty bed.

Darien began to freak out, hurrying to Diana's room. The thought of his son having a nightmare did not even occur to him as ideas of kidnapping plagued him.

Diana re-awoke to the sound of footsteps. She sat up carefully so that she would not waken Darius.

"Darien?" She whispered. "Is that you?"

"Darius is gone! He's not---" Darien barged in, noticed the sleeping boy and trailed off. "...in...his...bed..."

Diana carefully stood up and was now glaring at Darien. "Stop making that ruckus!" Her angry state was somehow soften because she was whispering. "You'll wake him up!"

However, Darius slept on.

Darien shut up, similar to a clam.

"...Sorry...I-I thought..."

Diana sighed and looked back at Darius' sleeping form. "It's alright, he's still asleep."

Darien tiptoed over. "Good."

"He had a nightmare." Diana explained.

Darien nodded. "Makes sense." He was grateful for the darkness which hid his flushed face.

Diana looked at Darius then back at Darien, unsure what else to say.

Darien sighed. "What's going to happen now?"

"What do you mean? Diana said quietly. Sensing this meant more, she gestured for Darien and her to step outside so they would not wake up Darius.

Darien slipped outside the door. "I mean...Zeph...I mean, he's not mine right?"

Diana sighed. "I don't know..." She looked at him thoughtfully.

Darien groaned. "I just wish I could know for sure...Can't we test him or something?"

"We could..." Diana said nodding slowing. "In the morning... I think St. Mungos might be able to help us there."

"...Good...But what about...Celina." He scowled as he uttered her name. The woman was ruining his life...

Diana frowned. "What about her...?" It was dark so she couldn't quite see his scowl. She detested that woman for doing this to them.

"She's coming back in the morning...I...She might try and stop us."

"It doesn't matter, one way or another, the truth will come out." Diana said. "Listen, why don't we sleep now, and we'll talk about all of this in the morning?"

Darien nodded. "Alright...I'll see you in the morning then." He turned back towards the stairs.

"Darien wait," Diana called after him.

Darien paused. "Yes?"

He turned to face her again.

Diana suggested. "Why don't you sleep here with m - us... Darius had been looking for you." Course what she wanted to say was, 'I can't sleep without you.'
